  • Works great and easy to use.
Style: Auto + Manual
I'm a complete newbie to this and i only needed to weld two sets of batteries together a 3 pack for a wireless multipurpose pump to inflate tubes, balls ect other is 6 pack of 18650 batteries for a stick vacuum that died first year of ownership where the company wouldn't honor the warranty then up and vanished. I tried to solder the batteries together it was too hard and i couldn't do it fast enough due to lack of experience so instead of killing the batteries with heat i opted for this welder and dam i am glad i did, i knocked my 2 projects out in 20 minutes now i'm looking for more lol this is a very easy to use and handy item hope it has longevity. it comes with replacement tips, a file, and 2 small rolls of nickel sheets .15 mil this kit will probably last me a lifetime alone glad i bought it. • So far it works great and has a good range of heat for different materials.
Style: Auto + Manual
So far so good. I charged it right out of the box then put it to use. It had no problems welding the nickel strips to my 18650 batteries, bringing new life to my old flood light. I did have to play around with the settings. At first it was too weak and my heart sunk. Then I turned it up too high and had hopes it would work. Then I got it dialed in and it was awesome. ... show more

  • Decent, with some caveats
Style: Auto + Manual
Good cheap welder with some caveats. Play around with angle and pressure on a junk battery to get your welds solid. Remember ohm's law: as voltage goes down amperage goes up. What might need gear 70 at 4 volts will need gear 50 at 3.2. I blew through a cell my first time not realizing this. Also this is a cheap welder with a small battery. My first pack was 20 cells, 8 welds per cell, so 160 welds and I had to charge it twice. ... show more

  • Great spot welder! Wish I had purchased this sooner.
Style: Auto + Manual
Makes great welds! Has more power than I need, but allows the user to increase or decrease depending on the project. Easy to use! Had never used one of these, but the learning curve was quick! The battery life is ridiculously long considering the power this welder puts out. I was amazed at the extras that were provided in order to make this a very functional device. This welder is very sophisticated electronically, yet easy to figure out. I use this to weld batteries together to make inexpensive battery packs, and save a lot of money rather than buying OEM packs. Ie. 6 lithium CR123 3v batteries for about $15, makes 3 6v battery packs that would otherwise cost around $50 a piece. I definitely recommend this item! ... show more

  • It works but it is extremely inconsistent and charges very slow
Style: Auto + Manual
After charging the unit and welding my first 15 or so batteries I was about to leave a 5 star review. However, after getting to battery 30ish, it blew a hole through one of my batteries causing it to leak. I had turned the power down to 25ms for most of the welds on .15 strips. I had tried on .2 strips but had issues getting solid welds, but it was working well on .15. If anyone welds battery packs, you know the issues with a blown out battery and trying to get it out when its in the middle of a half welded pack. Anyhow I continued on being cautious of the varying weld power. Long story short, you never know what power you are getting on each weld no matter what setting you choose. It can be turned up high and barely weld a battery, or you can have it turned down to 20 and blow a hole in a battery. I welded a total of 3 13s8p packs and 1 13s6p pack. I had a total of 5 random blow outs causing leaks, and 3 that blew the wire strip completely off with tons of sparks, but didnt appear to penetrate the battery. This item does work, but you have to be careful and maybe not use it for large projects. The battery lasts about 60 welds at 20-30ms. Takes hours to charge though. ... show more

  • Very short battery life, makes nice stong neat welds
Style: Auto + Manual
Some of the reviews of this welder talk about it having a decent battery life, but if you read all the reviews a significant portion mentioning having to recharge the welder after just a few welds. In my experience with mine, it can do about four welds and then needs to go back on the charger for about 20 minutes to do four more. I was upgrading all 5 cells in a 20v Max drill battery, meaning I had ten welds to make, requiring me to recharge the unit twice. Pretty frustrating. On the upside, when charged the unit makes quick strong welds with no sparks or splatter, and was up to the task. It came with a nice selection of nickel straps and replacement tips. ... show more

  • First time spot-welder; learned a lot; got the job done
Style: Auto + Manual
First time spot welder. Got this to build a new battery pack for my Flume water meter device. I had some old Energizer Lithium batteries sitting around so thought I'd just build my own. The other reviews were very helpful in preparing me for what to expect but it still was more difficult than I originally though. Definitely play/practice with it before doing the real job. The instructions indicated a "Recommended Setting" of 70 for 0.15 mm Nickel-Plated Sheet which I assume is for the Gear setting in ms. For me 70 seemed way too high and sparks would fly and I'd often make holes in the sheet. I ended up getting successful welds at 4ms if I made sure there was good contact and tips were clean! Thanks to the reviewer with the video who indicated he was using such low numbers. The comments about the tips needing to be cleaned were helpful....I was using the included file but didn't realize until later that the small circular pad is for cleaning/sanding the tips as well (this would have been better for lightly charred tips since the file is more crude/rough). I only used the Auto mode with delay set pretty high which seemed helpful. I'm usually looking at the tip but noticed later that the delay box on the screen will start filling up when it detects the contact and when the box meter gets full then that's when it initiates the weld. Got the job done, learned a lot, hopefully the next time will be better. Sorta wish the tips were a little closer together when trying to weld the positive small bump side of normal batteries. ... show more
