  • Compact and capable- ready to weld!
Color: Blue
I'll start this review with I am hardly even a welder by any stretch of the imagination. I did some stick welding in high school shop class, and I've done a small bit of research over the years on other forms of welding with no hands on experience. Okay. You know my experience and where I stand, let me begin. I have been considering one of these smaller portable welding machines for the past year. I've ran into several things that could have used a welder but just never had one on hand. I was given the chance to receive the SEESII welder, a brand I recognized and use, so I jumped on it. I am happy I did. I started with one simple job. Exhaust work on my truck. I've been putting this off for a while because, a. no welder, and b. I don't want to pay a shop thousands to do the job for me. I purchased a simple exhaust kit and did a bit of research. I had it done on a Saturday evening. It might be be the prettiest to look at but no one is looking at it anyway. Since then I've just been going out of my way to find ways to use it. The latest job was removing from stuck bolts that had snapped off when I was working on an old vehicle. This was one thing I wish I had a welder for in the past. I do a lot of DIY work on older vehicles and bolts like to shear off. A welder made it so simple to back them out. No longer will I drill into a bolt. As far as the welder itself, it doesn't pretend to be industrial but for what it is, it seems to punch well above it's weight class. For a lightweight machine, the build quality is much better than expected. The case feels strong and durable. This doesn't look or feel like a toy. It feels like a legitimate entry level machine designed for DIYers like me. It's compatibility with materials is great. It's flexible with the most common consumables. The size is small and compact. It's very lightweight which makes it incredibly easy to carry around. You can easily move it around with one hand, store it on a garage shelf, in a vehicle to a job site, etc. If you have limited space, this is such a huge advantage. They include several useful accessories, not just a bunch of filler stuff you won't ever use. It's essentially a complete starter kit. As long as if you have stuff like a mask, gloves, etc. You can unbox this and have it set up to weld within minutes. Someone already mentioned this in a review, and they are entirely correct when they say, you need to make sure you know what outlets you're using with this machine. You do not want to risk running this on any outlets under 30 amps. A lot of older households will have 20 amp, and you're running a risk by using this with that outlet. Just be aware and know what you have. So pros: Ready to use out of the box. Lightweight but solid. Smooth arc performance for the price. Extremely portable. "Cons:" No TIG torch included. Limited by 110V power, so not for heavy industrial work. Duty cycle isn't meant for long continuous welding. If you're a DIYer/beginner like me, or just need a small reliable welder for small to medium size jobs, this is a fantastic choice. It's affordable, capable and actually convenient to use which is what most people want from this type of welder. ... show more

  • Wonderful little welder Wonderful little welder

Another KNOCKOUT Seesii product! For being so incredibly tiny, this packs are big punch. Not in the way you're thinking, it's not going to weld up 1" plate or anything like that. But for on the go repairs or anything under 1/2" or doesnt need a ton of penetration it works amazing. It does well at those things, but the best use I've found for it so far is for those parts that you just can't weld with a full size welder. I'm talking thin metals like a broken bed frame, cheap hand rails, kayak racks, etc. Or things in hard to reach areas, or areas you cant bring your regular welder to, like under a car when you can't pull it into your garage. Things you can't repair with glue, but also probably can't hit with a 220v Miller, but you also can't afford to just replace every time it breaks. Its also amazing for when you don't have space for a bigger welder, or maybe dont have 220 access. I run this with a heavy gauge extension cord out the window from a normal 110 outlet in my kitchen. Is an extension cord recommended? Absolutely not. But the power draw isn't enough for me to worry about it much. Now, don't get me wrong, this thing will work on thicker metal and bigger projects as well. I have some 1/8" plate I've used it with and penetration was fine. I switched it over from mig mode to arc, and used a 6013 rod. The ability to switch like that makes this incredibly useful and versatile. It can even handle tig, however it does not come with the parts needed for that. It does come with mig, arc, and ground connections, as well as a small roll of wire and a brush/hammer combo, plus instructions. Does not come with gloves or helmet. I'd recommend this for anyone in an apartment, or without a garage, or without access to a welder. Also anyone handy that doesn't have a ton of money, and anyone new that wants to learn for cheap. It will save you a ton of money and time to repair your own stuff rather than buying new (such as those cheap bed frames, fences, car parts, etc). ... show more

  • Awesome little welder at a great price!
Color: Blue
We are having a lot of fun with this welder. Keep in mind that you should not plug this into any old outlet, you want to use a 30 amp outlet and most regular house outlets are just 20 amps. Many new houses may have 30 amp outlet set up for an air conditioner that can be used but others won't and many older houses don't. And while I do not recommend this at all, we did briefly test it carefully on a regular 20 amp outlet for only light work and never using it near max power and it worked just fine. But if you are going to use a 20 amp and say 'it works fine,' keep in mind that if you use it for more difficult power sucking jobs or if your house circuit is not up to it, you may trip the house breaker and/or damage your machine, so it is not recommended. We actually have a generator that can put out 30 amps that we use for such things and we did most of our testing that way. Also keep in mind that you MUST use a suitable welding helmet or welding eye protection so that your retinas are not damaged by this too bright light. This is actually essential, it's not one of those less important safety issues you can sorta get by without. You have to protect your vision, don't fry your retinas, you may not even feel it while you damage them. Ok so I'm truly a beginner, I've never welded and did not know mig from tig. But I have a friend who is a skilled and seasoned welder that helped sort it all out. I'd say for someone like me, you'd need to either watch a lot of videos or get some help because you are not going to just get any kind of 'beginner' machine like this and know how to use it quickly with any kind of correctness. There's a number of little details and some learning curve first. However as someone's first machine or just to do light duty work or to have a more portable unit, this thing is great and I had tons of fun using the MIG function welding bits of scrap metal together. With some tips on speed, etc, I was able to do an ok job pretty fast but it helped a ton to have someone there guiding me. However, I turned to my friend for what he thinks about this particular machine compared to the many others that he's used. With his guidance, here is some review info about this particular machine. Success welding on the 20 amps outlet up to 3/8 inch steel but did not try anything harder. On the correct 30 amps power source (the generator), we did both stick welding and TIG on 3/8 inch steel with no problems, so the listing description was completely accurate if not a little conservative there. We also did some TIG on aluminum using CO2 and that also went well. My friend especially appreciated the inverter worked crisply so that all arc starts were quick and smooth with no laboring. He felt the quality of this machine was similar to name brand high end welders that he has. We went through every statement on the listing description and he verified all were very accurate and realistic statements on the real functionality of this unit. The video also is accurate, there were no exaggerations. He did not have any real cons to offer about this machine other than since it is smaller, all the parts are closer together which makes it a little harder to load wire and fidget with some of the controls, but that would be true for all small machines anyway. So yeah, we both like this machine a lot and he was very surprised to find out it was only $94 for this machine which we feel is a super awesome deal. So our review is two thumbs way up, this is a great little rig at a great price and value. ... show more

Great item. Small form factor is a plus. I'm a novice..so when I seen this I had to pick it up and try my hand at learning the skill. So this review is from a novice perspective. With that being said..my main points are regarding build quality. I can't comment too much on function just yet. I did notice that the marketing is pretty slick. At first glance I thought this was a 4-in-1 machine since MIG was in the model name. But it does not do MIG welding.. so a bit of slick advertising there. Otherwise I found this thing is a tank. It's built very well and the parts do not appear cheap. The instructions are clear which is highly important from my perspective; good enough to get the rookie welder started and confident in what he's doing. The weight of this is light and easy to transport. I found no issues, cracks, dings or any missing parts. From a value perspective I say it's priced nicely and In line with other brands. Overall I am excited to give this a try and learn as I go. No complaints. ... show more
