I got this cooler backpack to use for a weekend road trip to keep drinks and food cold. It worked great. PROS: It performs as well as you would expect from a typical consumer grade plastic cooler. Probably not as well as the fancy "yeti" coolers. But at this price I was not expecting that. I put ice, drinks and snacks in the cooler in the morning. It worked great on our trip. We used it through the road trip. When we got to our destination and I forgot the cooler in the car. The next day the drinks were still cold, and a mixture of ice and water filled the cooler some 30 hours later. I would guess the ambient temperature average around 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It's about the same size as a small plastic cooler and will easily hold a 12 pack of drinks and ice. It also has an insulated top pocket for small snacks, and a few other non-insulated pockets around the pack. Size wise it was easy to carry. The size of a typical backpack. It's about the same size as the 15 inch laptop pack I use for work. (see pix) The pack works better than a cooler whit wheels for me. It's easier to throw a pack on my back, than to wheel a cooler around. I will say a 12 pack of drinks and ice can be a bit heavy. But its manageable. It doesn’t leak, and the water proof membrane in the pack seem pretty tough. (I've only used the pack a couple of times but its held up great). CONS: The pack must stay upright. The zipper looks like a waterproof zipper….but it's **NOT WATERPROOF**. Also the hinge between the top and main compartment is not waterproof. If this bag tips over, it will leak (like most coolers with no latch and gasket). The bottle opener is annoying, and gets in the way. I'm going to just remove it. It's awkward on the strap and just gets in the way when removing and putting the pack on. It needs a back pad. Drinks and bottles can shift awkwardly in the pack while in use. It's not really too bad, but a pad would solve this problem completely. Build quality is OK for the price. I'm spoiled lately and have used "bullet proof" lifetime warranty packs from OSPREY and TIMBUK2 . The quality of this pack is not like those, but neither is the price. The materials and zippers and build quality don’t look like they will fail anytime soon, they are just adequate and not overbuilt, It reminds me of a JANSPORT pack build quality wise.

I searched high and low and this backpack cooler fit my needs perfectly. I needed something that I could pack cold lunches/drinks for 6 people for a visit to the zoo. I started out by putting this bag in the freezer overnight. Most people will keep their coolers in the garage where it can be 100 degrees plus and think the cooler is crappy because all the ice melted. Prepping any cooler is vital for optimal results. I put a 6 mil trash bag in the inside of the cooler before placing 5lbs of ice. I don’t doubt this cooler is waterproof, I just didn’t want to find out at the zoo. Plus you can compress the cold down with the trash bag and put more items above that doesn’t need to be chilled. All together I had over 23lbs of food/drinks in the cooler. Having the zipper pockets for plates/wipes was nice. And the two bottle holders were big enough for (2) 16oz water bottles a piece. Temperatures were hovering around 90degrees all day and the cooler preformed well. The food stayed cool and at the end of the day (8.5hrs) the cooler had approx 1.5lbs of ice left. The money I saved from not having to buy food at the zoo more than payed for this cooler. If you are looking for a backpack cooler that won’t break the bank, I would strongly give this one a look. Also while I did bring a wagon to the zoo, I had the bag on for approx 2 hrs and did not feel uncomfortable/sweaty. Two thumbs up!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I used this backpack on a 4.2 mile hike. I love the idea of a cooler backpack that I can take drinks and snacks with. This backpack is perfect for the beach, park, or just going over to a friend's house. I wanted to test it out on a hike. I packed it with a gallon of water bottle, two salad containers, and ice so I could see if it leaks when the ice melts. This backpack is leak proof and kept everything cool. The ice melted by the time I got two miles in to my hike, it was a really hot day. But still no leaks. Some of the features I love are the many perfectly placed pockets, the utility bottle opener, and how the inside lining of the backpack pulls out completely so when you are done, you can dry the inside of the backpack. That was a smart move. The only thing for me is I have narrow shoulders and the straps on this backpack are quite thick and took over my entire shoulder so it pinched a little. Can't wait to keep using this backpack on many more adventures!
