  • All You Can Eat Sprouts!
Color: White
I'd been looking at this kind of product for a while now but was really on the fence about it. First, it seemed too simple and easy to be true. Second, I'm the only person in my household that really enjoys bean and alfalfa sprouts. Everyone else eats the beans when I do stir-fry but otherwise won't touch them. Alfalfa's been a little difficult for me to find fresh locally to the point I don't really look but bean sprouts, I can get. While not expensive, my problem is that being the only person eating them, I'd end up throwing park of a container out once they started to get slimy so the ability to make them for myself at the portion sizes I wanted to was appealing. Then the question became, do I want to pay the slight premium for a two jar version and sacrifice a little more counter space or do I go for the single jar? Getting the opportunity to review this through vine, my first question stopped mattering so I ordered this along with a bag of 2 pound mung beans and followed the instructions. Attached to this review is a picture of my results and I'm BEYOND thrilled! These little guys sprouted in under a day and a half and watching them grow a lttle more each day was a satisfying experience. We grow plenty of stuff at home including with hydroponics. Harvesting our own lettuce and other small staple items is nothing new but the satisfaction from the immediacy of the progress on these is really tangible. I didn't really involve my son with this first round and I wish I had because it would have been a fun project. I'm thinking about pretending it's the first time to do over with him on the next batch. Nothing in the packaging explains the point of the black neoprene covers but in the case of the bean sprouts, it's if you want them to come out like the store-bought ones. If they're exposed to light, they'll begin to grow little leaves at the end which are entirely edible, too but if you want them to be all white, the covers will make sure they grow like that. You may notice a little green in my picture and that's mostly just the hulls of the original beans still in the jar. As for getting the single or double jar version, it comes down to either frequency or if you want to grow more than one sprout at a time. It takes about five days to get two tablespoons of beans to the size you see in that jar and then they have a little less than a week of refrigerated shelf life after that, I'd say. So with that in mind, if you really eat a bunch, you might want to have two going at alternating schedules so something's always half way through the cycle. Since it's just me eating them, I'm probably not going to do that but now that I know it really works,I'll be ordering alfalfa and being able to do the two overlapping is the appeal there for me. Even with bean sprouts not being expensive, the beans are cheap and this set will pay for itself in no time if you eat them regularly so if sprouts are your thing, I'd say take the plunge! ... show more

  • Very easy to grow things
Color: White
I hate buying bean sprouts at the market because if you don't use it within 2-3 days, it is rotten already. And I have thrown so much away, I am reluctant to buy anymore. This is the solution. So far I have grown bean sprouts and alfalfa sprouts. Both are so easy to grow, although it takes about 6-7 days to do it. Now the sprouts do not get as long as the ones you buy at the store, but it is convenient growing your own at your kitchen counter top. Now I keep it growing to replenish and have on hand whenever I need them. ... show more

  • Easy and inexpensive way to make your own sprouts
Color: White
This was not my first experience with sprouts. I have had a few sprout starter kits that came with a cardboard tray and growing medium + seeds and while that was pretty easy to grow and failproof, it wasn't something you could reuse. You had to buy a whole new kit and they weren't cheap. I have also tried sprouting mung beans using an enameled tray with holes and covering the sprouts with a towel that I was supposed to keep moist. Well that was a mess: the sprouts grew into the towel and were hard to remove and I'm pretty sure there was some mold, too, so I threw them away. Then I saw someone on social media talk about these sprouting jars and how this new concept is the best because it keeps the sprouts moist but prevents mold from growing. So I knew I had to give this a try. The concept is great, indeed and easy to use. I had a seed mix that contained mustard greens and a few types of radishes, that was supposed to take about 10 days to sprout. The mix was a little old so not all the seeds sprouted. The instructions didn't talk about the black sleeve so I wasn't really sure how to use it. As far as I know, it helps to keep the seeds in a dark environment until they sprout. But after that, they need light to grow. So I kept the sleeve on for a few days, then I took it off, even though about half of the seeds hadn't sprouted. Well, anyway, I only had 1 TBSP of seeds, so the sprouts barely took any room in the jar. I think my next attempt will be more successful if I buy some fresh seeds. If there was one thing I would change about the kit, it would be the tray. I think it should have some rubber feet so it doesn't slide back and forth on the counter, when you remove the jar and place it back. Other than that, no complaints. This is a great idea and it is worth the money. Sprouts can be very expensive and this is a very easy way to make your own. ... show more

  • Good quality sprouting kit
Color: Gray
This sprouting kit seems to be good quality. The box is well packed to keep the jars protected. I didn't like that the seal was cut, but everything appears to be inside the box. I do wish this came with a starter seed pack. I'm considering giving sprout growing kits like this for Christmas gifts, and having seeds included would make this even better. I'll update the review after I buy seeds and am able to try it out. ... show more

I enjoy sprouts on my sandwiches, and saw some videos on tiktok on how to grow sprouts using these jars. I follow the video instructions, and am growing them. I am looking forward to fresh sprouts on my sandwiches and salads.
