I really love the fertilizers and complete replacement of the sponges. The whole kit is over kill since the plastic holders can be reused. Wish I could get just sponges or just the firtilizer separate. But over all this is a great item as is the indoor hydroponic machine. I plan on getting a few more of them bc I like mine so well.

I'm starting to wonder what they are made out of or how they are manufactured, because I recently had one pod develop some kind of spore which quickly killed off my budding seedling. Will update my review as I go on in the season if I see this continues. In fact, I will likely return the product if it continues. A pod that kills off seedlings is kind of pointless.

I used these in our Areo Garden as replacements to the ones that I came with it. These fit well into the cone holders but that’s about it. These are more of a sponge material and after seeds sprouted, these were very hard to separate the plant and roots out for planting. I damaged quite a few root stems trying to separate it. I finally decided against trying to separate the pods and roots and finally just planted the whole thing. The green beans I planted from starts with these pods seemed and still seem to lack in productivity from the others that I started from seed.

Well. I used these in 2 hydroponic garden units... one with only these and one with these and another brand (aerogarden brand) and every single one of these sponges i used had Fungus gnat larvae crawling around in it within a few weeks... pulled them out assuming it was the water... cleaned everything planted some more... and same result a few weeks later... I believe my batch have Fungus gnat eggs/larvae in the foam inserts
