I planted this seed last year and it was divine. The neighbors were enchanted as well. I re-ordered and just planted today (July 10, 2022) Zone 8b. The reason for the "delay" is that we have had very cool temperatures. These seeds will germinate in about 12 days. I direct seed and have not had issues. They grow about 6 feet tall which is perfect for me. I usually soak the seeds in water (not a requirement) and then plant them directly into seedling soil (1/2" deep) that I have put out where I want the flowers to grow. I had issues getting these seeds to sprout I planted as directed in a area i tilled and raked out than placed thin layer of straw. I didn’t get any germinated out of the area I planted none Sprouted. I will note I had a flock of birds in going through the area where I planted the seeds. I Will order from this brand again in the future.due to success with other sunflower strains. ... show more

I love that these are so easy to grow, and they were beautiful while they lasted this summer, I was a bit disappointed that the coloration wasn't as vibrant as on the package or pictures, I thought they would be quite red in the center fading to yellow at the ends of the petals but they were more a yellow w/ VERY pale reddish spots in center and intense yellow at ends of petals. OVERALL very nice sunflowers, I would grow them again, great customer service with this shop. I'll look for some more vibrant red sunflowers for next year. ... show more

These sunflowers bloom a deep red with yellow tips! Stunning in the garden. Plus, the honeybees love them. They are drought resistant too (the summer of 2023 was a hot 🥵 and smoky one here in NY!)
