Top Amazon Reviews

πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The desk appears to be well received, with repeat mentions of its sturdiness and great overall size. It offers a lot of working space and accommodates tech gadgets well, with provision for dual monitors. It also comes with commendable features like ample shelving, adjustable shelf levels, cable holes and a metal frame where you can place magnets. However, some concerns have been raised such as the included LED strip breaking down shortly after setup, the need for careful assembly, and a lack of wall bracing.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Sturdy and spacious enough for dual monitors
  • πŸ‘ Ample shelving and desktop space
  • πŸ‘ Adjustable shelf levels
  • πŸ‘ Comes with cable holes and metal frame for magnets

Cons

  • πŸ‘Ž Assembly can be complex and time-consuming
  • πŸ‘Ž The provided LED strip has been reported to stop working shortly after purchase
  • πŸ‘Ž No built-in wall bracing

Should I Buy It?

If you need a heavy-duty, spacesaving desk with many desirable features, this should be a top consideration. The LED strip's quirk could be a minor setback, considering it's not the key feature of the product, and most assembly woes can be avoided by closely following the instructions. Overall, this seems like a good buy.

  • Solid desk, good overall size
Color: Rustic Brown
This was an excellent upgrade to my previous desk. Everything was received well within the shipping timeline and all the parts were there. It comes in a single, flat box that was pretty heavy. I would recommend sliding it and having two people if you need to move it up or down a stairway. The box had some cosmetic damage, and one board inside had a small chip along an edge (shipping company's handling - not the manufacturer). The materials were packed with styrofoam sheets. I'm not a big fan of this stuff, and cardboard or some other foam material would have been better. There were no odd smells when unpacked. You will see some drill dust fall from holes on occasion, so a quick vacuum and/or wipe-down is advisable. The finish on the metal components was black, powder coated, and was in good condition. The shelving and desk surface are MDF (medium density fiberboard) with paper covering, and were relatively well made. Be aware of what you are getting here. MDF, if exposed and untreated, can absorb moisture and will expand and fall apart. Fix any chips or scratches immediately using a good two-part wood filler and flat primer - seriously, do not tempt the furniture gremlins. Don't let anything wet just sit on the surface of shelving (like a sweating glass or a plant pot). Use coasters or something similar. I'd also recommend a writing pad to protect the surface you use most frequently. Be careful not to gouge the surface or drop anything heavy on it that has edges. Large chips are very difficult to fix on this stuff. Keep the surface clean using an occasional wipe-down with a slightly damp rag and make sure the surface dries entirely before replacing items. You could substitute wood shelves with a visit to a lumber/home store and some work. Good luck finding something that isn't warped and chipped, but I digress (glares at THAT store). Assembly was simple, though I cheated and used an electric driver (highly recommended). However, be very, very careful. Take your time and pay attention to the admittedly spare instructions. Don't tighten anything until the major components are fully assembled. Then use the supplied allen wrench to hand-tighten. I also used the allen wrench to start screws. Look carefully to how the legs are set, so you don't have to swap one around like I did half way through the assembly (I needed more coffee). This can be assembled by one person - if I can do it, so can you. I would recommend assembly near where you plan to place the desk as it is a little awkward to move and might be a bit wide for some doorways (23-5/8 inches deep). The guide and most photos on here show the bottom shelf of the hutch assembly close to the desk surface. You can actually move that up about 14-1/2 inches to another set of pre-drilled holes if you prefer. You can assemble the hutch separately. It attaches via the legs of the hutch to the top surface of the main desk with screws and is secure enough. Assuming you're using this as a computer desk, it will accommodate some fairly good-sized monitors. I was able to fix my 27" and 32" (diagonal) LG monitors. The 32" was a tight fit and slightly challenging. I had to angle it way forward to get it below the supports, and then could adjust the tilt back to vertical. The space between the lower shelf and upper shelf is 20-1/2 inches, but it's only 19-5/8 inches to the bottom of the support. The shelf for my monitors was just a bit on the narrow side at 8-7/8 inches deep, so the monitor feet sit just a touch off the edge as I have them set at an obtuse angle instead of straight across the shelf. Not a huge deal and they're still well supported. I don't think this would fit two 32" well, or it would be a very tight fit with the feet off the edges quite a bit. It depends on how much adjustment you have with your monitor's mounting system. The bottom shelves aren't super wide, so fitting some desktop system towers could be a challenge. My giant Lian Li case sits on it's own table adjacent to the desk. There's two cable holes in the desk surface at the rear. I'd recommend using just the center of the plastic inserts to guard the edges of the holes from scuffing. One of the centers broke while I was fiddling with it (my fault), but it actually worked better without the center - so I "fixed" the other one too. The desk is stable, but please note that it does not come with any wall bracing. It will sit fairly flush with a wall once completed, though you might want a little space to accommodate cords or a baseboard. It might be a good idea to pick something up or order something off amazon if you have climbers or just want some security. Search the term "furniture wall anchor" and you'll have a lot of options. Also, I would recommend some Command (3M) cable clips to help get cords off the floor or just organize them a bit. Update: It's almost 2 years later! The desk is still intact and in good condition. It survived movers with no issues. No issues at all. I found it useful to buy a small piece of trim and tack it on the back of the upper shelves to keep things from accidentally being pushed back. I also got some small sticky felt circles (technically for furniture feet) that I stuck along the front of the shelves as a stop for pictures and such so they won't fall off the front. Not required by any means, but if I bump the desk, it keeps things from falling. Back to work! ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised
Color: Rustic Brown
You never know what you’re gonna get for construction with these types of desks, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s very sturdy, and the natural top makes it look more expensive than it is. I like the lower shelf to put the printer and laptop on, keeping the lower desktop clear as a work space. I didn’t use the light strip, so I can’t judge that. Oh, I also love the height of the desk, the keyboard tray height, and the wide leg cutout. It works great for my 6’4” spouse and still manageable for me. ... show more

  • Nice gaming desk
Color: White
Sturdy and simple, this desk has a lot of room for tech but also all your toys. I appreciate how spacious the desktop space is. I didn't install the keyboard shelf since I didn't need it, but is a nice option. Because there aren't any drawers, I recommend getting IKEA Kuggis boxes as they fit the dimensions really well. Also like that I can put magnets on the metal frame for placing notes and hanging stuff. My biggest complaint is that the LED strip included stopped working within a couple months. Granted I didn't buy this desk for the LED strip, but still a bummer. The strip in the photo is one I already had for the past 7 years (just a comparison of how long I expected the one included to last)! Still recommend the desk but don't count on the LED strip. ... show more

  • Great size!
Color: White
I am able to fit two 27” monitors side by side while also keeping some of my favorite nicknacks on the shelves above! The height of the desk is great and I love putting magnets along the metal bars as well! The bottom right shelf also fits most mid tower pcs so it’s *chef’s kiss*

  • Looks great. I can't wait to set everything up!
Color: Rustic Brown
I did not buy this for gaming, I bought this for my business and I can not wait to get it set up. I did have an issue with the bottom rod under the desk stripping screws and I was not able to add the screw so I put mounting tape up until I can figure out how to fix it. Other than that it wasn't too bad to assemble by myself. ... show more
