I bought this looking for a good budget bfs reel. For about $30 with a double spool, this looked like a impossible option. I also wanted to give sea knight another try as I tried one of their other reels which was horrendous. Right off the bat, I noticed that the side plate paint job was the most amateur job I've ever seen. I can clearly see a circular line that's in the shape of the magnetic brakes system. On top of that, there's a big dent looking thing where the side plate meets the body. I figured that's just a manufacturing defect so I decided to give a replacement a try. After a lot of waiting the replacement came. Although it was slightly better, it still has those defects. On top of that, the replacement made a light squeaky sound when turning the handle in a specific angle. Other issue included magnetic brake control knob that was difficult to use and it was designed so that internal gears were exposed to water and elements, and the magnetic braking system didn't do a whole lot when set to max either. Returning this was truly horrifying. I can return the original at one place but it wouldn't let me return the replacement at the same location. They only offered me to return about 10 miles away. On top of that, it took 2 weeks for Amazon to get it for some reason even though my other return got there in less than 3 days. Then it took another 4 days before then refunded me, even though the return page says 2 to 3 days after they receive. And that was after contacting them twice. I bought this reel for bait finesse system fishing using the large diameter spool , I miss read the description thinking it has both magnetic and mechanical braking system so you can really fine tune the reel to throw very light jigs , well all it has is magnetic . It took a while but was able to throw 1/8 jig with out backlashing not as far as I hope but as I use it maybe it will free up and do better. Other that that its very smooth plenty of drag works great. Landed a nice 4 lb plus spotted bass with no complaints .It's not a $250 Daiwa but still a good real . ... show more

I ordered this reel on a Wednesday night, it was in my mailbox Thursday afternoon. Immediately out of the box it was light, and tight, meaning it didn't rattle. I own both a Shimano Curado, and a Shimano Chronarch. This reel easily competes with them for only a fraction of the price. Smooth castability! I can cast this reel well over 100 feet. The retrieve is smooth as well. Also, I had it dialed in by the tenth cast. It's not easy to backlash, but it is possible until you make your adjustments. Only suggestion I have is, when you unbox it, go ahead and apply extra reel grease. You'll need it. Overall, incredible quality for an awesome price. Highly recommend. ... show more

Falcan2, as you can see I have it on my dobyns fury and dang it’s smooth. Casting was smooth and reeling it in was smooth. Btw I went for stripers and caught my limit of 2 with this reel. Buy it, try it for you to know it. Affordable also.
