I should have gotten one a long time ago. I upgraded my security system from 2tb. Now can run 4k on 6 cameras with high resolution and bit rate and have a lot of storage space. Works as it should, no noise, and is priced within reason

Some have said that this hard drive is noisy but it was simple to install and startup was as easy after formatting the drive and then turning the power off and on it was ready to go. I can stand in front of the nvr at 2 feet and I cannot hear the drive making any kind of noise. I go back as far as it had recorded and call on the playback and I still hear nothing and see a very clear display. I have now bought 2 additional 8GB drives like this and have installed one of them with no problem or noise. The cost seems reasonable and the compatibility is there with no noise should be running without overheating then it should last for a long time. Have not had the drive for very long but will buy this drive for any additional needs that I have. If I have any problems I will update but for now I am happy with the purchase. ... show more

I just installed this in a new Eufy S4 Max NVR. It runs all the time, even when it should be idle, making a noise that's crazy, like some rock'n roll drummer gone mad doing a forever solo back in the 70s! It's a Sunday so I'll see if Seagate has an answer tomorrow. Before all that I had to format it in the NVR first, after a few minutes it reported done, but the drumming kept on going like it was still formatting so I thought the "done" message was false. In fact formatting was successful, it's the noise that's an unwelcome feature. I subsequently figured out the internal clatter was being amplified by the cupboard it was sitting on. Reliable heavy-duty drive for nonstop NVR recording

Why I ordered this item: We run a small NVR setup at the office with a bunch of cameras recording around the clock, and I needed a drive that could keep up with that kind of write load without choking. Likes: * This thing doesn't drop frames. I've got it feeding four cameras at once and playback is smooth, no stutter anywhere in the timeline. * It's rated for a crazy amount of workload per year, and it's chewing through four camera streams recording nonstop like it's no big deal. * The health management software gives me useful info instead of just a blinking light. I can see drive temp and status without digging through the NVR menus. * Noise level is low for a drive doing this much work. I was expecting more clicking and grinding, but it's mostly quiet. * Five year warranty plus the recovery service is a nice cushion for a drive that's basically never allowed to rest. No likes: * It runs warm. Not alarmingly so, but if your enclosure has bad airflow this thing will let you know. * The price is outrageous for a single drive, especially when you need multiple for a real NVR setup. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: This is a drive built for cameras running nonstop, not a general storage drive. If you're stuffing a bunch of security feeds onto one disk, this one just keeps recording without dropping anything. Fantastic large Hard Drive for a great price !!!

Replaced my 2 TB hard drive in my Eufy NVR system with six combo PTZ and fixed S4 max cameras. This 16 TB hard drive was very easy to replace fit right in with four little screws and then plugged in the data and power cable. Had the NVR all hooked up with the ethernets, lan and power and ready to go in about 15 minutes. The 16 TB drive went through its formatting in a couple of minutes and then was fully up and running recording all motion video from all six cameras, very seamless. It is a touch louder than the Western Digital 2 TB drive that came with the system, but not unacceptable. All-in-all a nice large drive made exactly for this NVR system with AI and 512 MB cache and 6Gb/s transfer rate, for a very good price. Highly recommend !!! ... show more
