What is the right size of a hard disk today? 2TB? Too small. 20TB and above? Nice for archival storage, but it will take you days to populate. So 16 TB is just right. This Seagate Disc is solid with no defects. Good price and delivered on time.

    • Seems fine, but no SMART data
So far the drive seems fine, although a bit noisier than other large drives like this. Read/Write speeds are about 280/260MBs. My biggest gripe is the reseller goHardDrive erased all the SMART data, so I have no idea how long this drive has been hammered on for. I HIGHLY doubt this is a new drive. I will try to update if this drive fails at some point. ... show more

    • Renewed test continues after a week
Four units, all renewed. First week was intermittent use tests (computer was up-and-down with office hours), and limited 4-8tb COPY processes, all at 180-220mbs - good speeds for an old drive's USB to these new SATA drives. For the last two days, they are running 28/8 - 28 hours a day, 8 days a week. This will be their semi-normal life from here on. I have ZERO faith in Seagate (much preferring HGST, pre-WD but since those days are dead 'n gone... well...) so these will be on constant watch/constant backup service. We will get many more although the price increase over other drives means these are not a good value. ... show more

Just don't waste your time with these HDDs, I bought 2 of them, and both of them are dead. It worths the money to get a brand new retail drive with a full warranty!
