  • Great and reliable
I've been buying refurbished drives for a few years now and they're all still doing well. I bought this for my Plex server and 8 months later it's still going well. Only regret is I didn't by more. I got it for 280 in August. Now it's $600. Boycott a.i. slop people

  • Seagate Exos 24 TB Drive - Factory Recertified by Seagate
I was happy with the quality and price on this item. I have been using only Seagate IronWolf drives in this NAS. When I needed to add another 24 TB, I couldn't justify the cost of IronWolf. After reviewing the specs of the Exos line I decided to save some money on this one. It powered up and was recognized by the OS. I was able to configure it and copy over the data to be populated on this unit quickly and easily. It's been behaving for three days with no issues and the logs are clean. ... show more

  • Defective 24TB Hardware: High Bad Sector Count. 90-Day Warranty is Not Enough for a Failing Drive.
I purchased two of these "Renewed" 24TB Seagate Exos in July 2025 for use in a UniFi NVR (19 streams). It is important to note that this specific drive model was only released in 2024 and is engineered as enterprise-grade hardware with a 5-year manufacturer rating. Despite being built for 24/7 data center reliability, this unit developed 21 physical bad sectors in less than 9 months of use (approximately 6,500 power-on hours). When I contacted the seller regarding this hardware defect, they declined to provide any support, citing a 90-day warranty limit. It is highly concerning for a flagship enterprise drive—released only a couple years ago—to experience a terminal failure this early. This suggests that the "Renewed" inspection process may not be screening for long-term drive health or that the hardware was mishandled prior to sale. If you are utilizing this for mission-critical storage or surveillance, be aware that the 90-day coverage is insufficient for the expected lifespan of this equipment. I recommend buyers look for a vendor that stands behind the quality of their enterprise hardware beyond a few months. ... show more

  • Great capacity and easy to install
Used in home server for storage of media only. I was nervous to get a recert drive but I haven't had any issues with this drive since installing. If the time comes to add more storage, I will look for this again. Pros: Capacity Easy to install No software issues Cons: Can be noisy on spin up but not enough to remove a star. Just wanted to share in case someone has a silent system. ... show more

  • So far so good...and I run them hard
Always a risk to not buy new but given the durability and hour ratings why not save a few buck each since I am using raid as back up and also a hot swappable drive. If not using those than may not be worth the risk. I have 7 drives running 24/7 on 16 4k cameras and have had zero issues, thankfully

  • No issues so far
I have two of these in Raid 0 with 2 nvme as cache. As far as I know thats about as fast as you can NAS them and they have been solid so far. Been running them about 2 months now with frequent media streaming and transfers/ backups of 20-70 GB files. Makes the speed coming out of my PC ethernet to NAS at 250 MB / s ... show more

  • Testing on these not great
I ordered two 24 TB drives for a raid. All I needed was a mirrored raid and when I was asked why I always bought two. I told wI told work because you know one's going to fail. Within about 4 hours of installation I heard one of the drives make a weird noise like they do when they start up. By the time the drive was one day old and had roughly six terabytes of data on it. It was making that noise regularly. You drive even with adequate ventilation, was running hot and smelled strange and died on day three. Fortunately I had the mirror and the project goes on and it is now updating on a different drive because there were no more of these to risk a factory refurbishment on ... show more

  • Actually still working after ~6 months!
I altered my review. You have to be very careful with high capacity drives such as this 24 TB drive. My previous review said that it didn't spin up after 4 months but in the end that result was due to using it in a USB enclosure. When I put it into a Ugreen NAS it worked fine. I did try it in two different USB enclosures but it did not spin up in either of them. One of them was supposedly suitable for such high capacity drives and it did actually spin up once but only once. I'm glad I didn't throw it out! ... show more
