I’ve been trying many different mats for camping and every time my comfort was meh at best. I realized air mattresses were not comfortable to me at all, I tried many with the last one being a Nemo Tensor. While the Nemo tensor is lighter and packs down smaller I much rather sacrifice some space in my backpack and add 2 pounds to get a comfortable sleep. I love it, I can use this comfort plus S.I mattress alone on the floor directly or on top of my nature hike cot. You will need to add air to make it firmer, it self inflates to a point and more air is needed to increase the firmness. I’m a side sleeper that likes to star fish sleep. This mattress paired with my Nemo Disco spoon shape sleeping bag is a perfect fit for me. My boyfriend who loves his Nemo Tensor decided to make the switch also, the comfort is worth it to us to add a little more weight. The camp comfort plus mattress is supposed to be a little more durable but I feel like this comfort plus is pretty durable as it is currently. The first inflation straight out of the box scared me a little. It didn't want to inflate at all. I let it sit for over an hour and it was still flat. Used a hand pump to blow it up and stretch it out since i didn't want to get moisture inside it. Now it inflates by itself within 3 minutes. Super comfortable and I felt my body heat being reflected back at me. added a half a pump after it's done just for personal preference. I prefer this over my bed. ... show more

Wish it was wider and not so bulky, hard to pack in backpack, but best for sleeping. Never had to blow up in several days of sleeping and sitting on. Good price as well. Stayed warm

This pad was very comfortable to sleep on and easy to inflate and deflate. Packs down Small enough to pack in your kayak for overnight trips. You probably could find a pad that would pack down smaller, but I didn’t want to risk not getting a good nights sleep.

    • Honestly if you're a bigger guy/gal or a side sleeper, you're going to want this - comfort galore
While this is a heavier sleeping pad (coming in at almost 3 lbs), the weight increase is 100% worth it based on the comfort it provides. The weight actually doesn't bother me too much, the problem is that it's a bit large when rolled up so you're pretty much limited to 45L + packs. You could probably manage to fit it into a slightly smaller pack but after including your tent, sleeping bag, and other backpacking supplies you won't have enough room. The pad itself feels well-built. I camped on a mesa with cacti and needles strewn all over the dirt below my tent recently. I had a thick footprint and a durable tent bottom but this pad was poked a few times by these needles and withstood it. Also, I'm 300 lbs and this pad stayed inflated for multiple nights on my last backpacking trip with my full weight on it. I'm sort of glad that I got the large tapered version since the large rectangular model adds even more weight and probably makes packing it into medium sized backpacks even tougher. Using it at night I don't even feel like I'm missing out on a bunch of space near my legs but again I'm a side sleeper so ymmv. If you're a side sleeper looking for some real cushion or a heavier person looking for a solid pad that'll hold you up, this is the pad to get. ... show more

While the sleeping pad has more weight than I like to carry while backpacking, it is worth it. I used it for four days in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota and it stayed inflated and kept me noticeably warm at night.

I need to sleep comfortably when camping/backpacking and this pad is amazing. Much better than others I have slept on. Pros: Super easy to inflate. Basically does it all by itself, I only help in the very end with a breath or two. Easy to pack back up. Ample space. Sturdy. Cons: Does take more space than a simple inflatable pad but totally worth it for these older bones.
