Although these are supposed to be submerged in an aquarium, these are also useful in my bonsai pot. Not too sure, because they feel a little light, if they would do well in an aquarium though. I would have thought that each piece would be more 'bottom heavy' to keep it from tipping as the water swirls around. They are in my bonsai because they are so nicely carved/constructed to show enough detail, rather than putting into water where it would be difficult to see the subtleties. ... show more

This are great for a nano or micro tank, i included an air stone for comparison, anything bigger than a 10 gallon and they will disappear unless you are doing a diorama.

I added one piece to the Bonsai we received as a gift at our wedding, 27 years ago, and it looks fine, maybe a little big. This is a small Bonsai. I also added a couple to my 75 gallon reef aquarium. Now you might think they are too small for that size of aquarium, but the miniature figures are not the center piece, but a nice accent piece that the observer will notice when they look more closely at the tank. Generally I placed them in out of the way places, but one was placed next to a plating coral and I look forward to the coral covering the figure in time. ... show more

These are beautiful little miniatures. The color is a dark green/gray with a speckled finish. They look exactly like the listing. They're light, but heavy enough to stay where you put them without tipping over. I'm very happy with these figurines. I am very impressed by these mini Japanese lanterns! They feel and look like they are made from fine, grey granite with a level of detail I didn't expect. They don't look or feel at all like plastic. They look very much like the full-sized lanterns I have seen in Japanese gardens, except they aren't hollow. The workmanship is very detailed -- I don't see or feel any flaws or burrs from production. I have to say the packaging is also great -- each lantern is wrapped in plastic and then placed in a separate compartment in a foam tray, and the tray fits perfectly in a box. This attention to detail ensured that none of the lanterns arrived with any chips or damage. There are three shorter lanterns, each about 2" tall. These are so sweet. I will be using them outside in my fairy gardens when the weather warms up. They will add a darling touch. I will make mini spots for them where the fairies will really enjoy them. My daughter in law loves fairies too and I let her have one for her garden. They look like stone and mimic the larger “real” pagoda lamps. They were packaged in a very safe way and none of them were broken. I adore them and truly, there is nothing to complain about. I've been on a hunt for small japanese lanterns for my zen fairy garden and ran across these. They are perfect! There were a bunch to choose from so i put 2 of them in the 'landscape'. it would be nice if i could only get the ones i wanted so i don't have extra. but other than that, it's just what i was looking for. excuse the mess in the photos. haven't gotten my spring fairy garden yardwork done yet. lol. ... show more
