Create a light and airy potting mix for your plants with Miracle-Gro Perlite. This potting soil additive for amending a potting mix can be used to create a lightweight plant growing medium for potted plants. It improves soil aeration and better drainage. In addition, this growing media is enriched with Miracle- Gro plant food. To use, mix evenly with potting mix to help prevent soil compaction and promote strong root development and strong root growth. You can use it with all types of container plants when added to potting soil mix. For best results with potted plants, let mix dry to the touch between waterings and don’t allow plants to sit in drainage water. Follow your plants' water and light requirements, and remember to repot container plants annually. For houseplant owners, home gardeners, and plant hobbyists interested houseplant care, perlite for house plants fits right into your spring replanting and propagation routine. To grow plant cuttings, fill a container with perlite and water thoroughly. Make holes with a pencil and insert cuttings, pressing perlite around them. Keep perlite moist and your plant out of direct sunlight. When storing bulbs or root crops, place plant materials in a container and pour dry perlite around the bulbs and roots. This Miracle-Gro perlite has been excellent for improving my potting mixes and soil amendments. I use it primarily for my indoor plants and starting seedlings. The perlite pieces are consistent in size and quality with good porosity for aeration. Mixed into potting soil, it dramatically improves drainage which prevents root rot and overwatering issues. The lightweight nature makes the soil easier to work with and doesn't compact over time. I particularly appreciate using this for succulents and cacti that need excellent drainage. The bag is a good size - enough for multiple projects without taking up too much storage space. The perlite is clean with minimal dust compared to some brands I've tried. It's also great for rooting cuttings and starting seeds since it holds moisture while providing air to developing roots. The enrichment with plant food is a nice bonus. I was hesitant buying this as I don't really care for the Miracle-gro brand. This had the best price and would arrive in the time frame I needed it. I was finishing up a bag from a different brand and it was so dusty. I opened the bag of MG perlite and poured out what I needed and there was no dust kick up, zero. It was so odd, all the perlite I have bought in the past has always been very dusty. I'm still not that keen on MG as a brand, however, I will continue to buy their perlite. ... show more

Great perlite, there's a lot of small bits and dusk, but for the price it's worth it, this is the best deal on perlite out there! Overall quality is pretty good, and it works great for soil, I use it in my mix for both Alocasia and Hoya!

This is a good product for making your own potting mix at home. If you garden in raised beds you know the prices of bed mix has gone up significantly, but using perlite with a cheaper compost and top soil can top up a bed cheaper and still drains well
