Exactly what we were looking for! We got this for our 7 year old daughter for Christmas. She really wanted a teal colored bike and this really fit the bill perfectly. We saw others and had her sit on and try lots of other style bikes to make sure we would get one she'd be confident and comfortable riding. She's still getting comfortable riding bikes without training wheels (we live in a rural area where there's a lot of dirt and the only place she can ride is in the street which makes it difficult for me to keep an eye on her all the time). Anyway, so I believe she still needs the foot breaks until she transitions to a hand break only bike. This was the only bike I could find that was all the things we needed, right color, and it has the hand and foot breaks. We found that the BMX style bikes were uncomfortable for her because you have to lean farther forward on them to reach the handles. This one gives you a more upright posture while riding and has a more cushioned seat than the BMX style bikes that we tried. Obviously she hasn't been able to ride it much but roll it around the house a bit because it's winter time and there's a lot of snow outside, but it looks like a very well made and sturdy bike that I expect to last for many years. She loves it, and I love it. My husband put it together in maybe 20 minutes or less. Definitely recommend. The price tag was a bit more than I wanted to spend on a bike, but for the quality and it having everything we were looking for, it was definitely worth it. Hey schwinn, thanks for ruining our 8 yr old daughter’s birthday. Fork connecting to steering wheel arrived severely bent and the bike isn’t drivable. Hope this didn’t happen to anyone else.

My 7-year-old daughter loves this bike! it was very easy to assemble and put together. We had it all set up and less than 30 minutes. I love the fact that you can use both the handbrakes or the foot brakes. It is a great way to transition kids from the training reel bikes up to big kid bikes. This Schwinn bike is wonderful; A gift for my seven year old granddaughter, and she loves it! The style, the bright colors, and the basket, so appealed to her! The bike was easy to assemble, and it took Grandpa no time at all. This is a sturdy good quality product, and an excellent value when compared to other offerings. My granddaughter took to riding it immediately, and it seems to handle quite well. Needless to say we are all rather pleased.     • Great bike to learn riding on without training wheels

Very sturdy easy to assemble well built. My 8 & 9 yr olds had become too accustomed to their scooters, bought this in the hopes they would try to learn to ride without training wheels. After a gentle push start and nervously walking behind them they were riding by themselves confidently within a day. A week later and we've hit 30 miles on the local trails. They are certainly sturdy but actually weigh more than my 26" specialized bike, different price point and materials, but something to note. The kickstands needed some WD40 but were fine after that. The bikes have front and rear light reflectors. Pedaling backwards acts as a brake. This gives the kids more confidence in slowing down but can also leave skidmarks as the bikes to stop hard. The bikes should accommodate them until 10/11yrs old. Very happy with our purchase highly recommended. ... show more

This bike is awesome! My 7 year old has easily been able to ride this after upgrading from a 16 inch bike. She said it’s much easier to pedal and coast and the brakes are much easier to use.
