Description

Founded in 1895, Schwinn is an American icon, building some of the best-known and best-loved bicycles of all time. From its very beginning in Chicago, Illinois, the Schwinn mission has been to develop bicycles that allow people to experience the confidence and freedom that comes from riding a bike. Ride with the ease of knowing your child is safe with the Schwinn Deluxe Bicycle Wheel Mounted Child Seat. This frame-mounted rear bike seat is designed for toddlers and children. Thanks to a lightweight, polypropylene construction, children ride safe and comfortable close to mom or dad perched on the rear wheel of an adult bike. Quick-release, five-point harness, leg restraints, and padded cross bar add rider safety while on the road. Assembly is easy on most adult bicycles with the use of only a screwdriver. A seat spring guard and bike spoke guard shields hands from moving bike parts. This child seat is not meant for use with bikes that have rear suspensions. Use only on adult bikes. Rider should wear harness and helmet at all times.

  • Saved my child’s life
Style: Child Carrier
This product saved my child’s life! A few days ago we were riding the bike, me and my 2 year old boy (almost 3 years old). He was sitting on this seat behind me when some crazy guy also in a bike (he said he did not see is in front of him!), broke into us! Immediately we all fell, I got 2 shoulder injuries (fractures) went to the hospital and had to undergo a surgery on my right shoulder. My baby came out with really minor minor bruises. Nothing! He was all the time attached to the seat, even when the bike fell, and he was just fine. He cried because he was scared, but he stopped crying soon because he did not have any injuries. Thanks to this product he is safe! Very good product!!! Thank you! ... show more

  • Please read! Screw broke apart during install.
Style: Child Carrier
This rating of 2 stars stands as I have yet to actually use the product itself. I have only completed install but was compelled to alert other buyers. I'll explain; I just received this product and ordered as a result of what appeared to be reasonable price, well reviewed, and Amazon recommended. Installation was relatively simple and instructions were basic. Here's the issue, during install I tightened one (important) mounting screw and it completely broke apart. I wasn't trying to overtighten the screw and had I left it even a few turns looser, would it have broken while riding with my 11 month old daughter on board?? So I'm not a typical reviewer, however I want others purchasing to be warned. I also want to acknowledge that this is a very cheap fix, just go to the hardware store and get a new screw. At this point, I'm still remaining optimistic as I know others who made this purchase are satisfied. I'm going to make the fix and will update accordingly. Hope this wasn't too long winded for someone to skip over what could potentially be harmful. Thanks! ... show more

  • Not for short people with short saddles
Style: Child Carrier
The seat is nice and sturdy but if you're short don't buy it. I'm 5'3 and the saddle needed to be about an 1.5 inches taller than I could ride at, to connect to the rack properly, to keep the child seat level and not leaning forward. For anyone about 5'6 and up this is an excellent seat for the price. If you do lots of off roading or dirt roads you may want to consider a seat with shocks or springs. Fit great on my bike if I was tall enough Schwinn Candis women's 26 in. Cruiser. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Style: Child Carrier
I love this carrier. It's sturdy and holds my little mans in there just right. I did some macgyver stuff to make it perfect, which was just attaching a shade from a car seat.

  • Good, but not great.
Style: Child Carrier
My own background: Avid urban cyclist, motorcycling in my past, a touring bike side properly for my 6'3" 200 lb. frame. Handy with a tool. This seat is excellent. Provides exceptional coverage of the occupant, with a fair number of restraints. If you're a avid cyclist you'll quickly adjust to the new center-of-gravity. Two stars were removed for the following: 1) Seat cushion: The seat cushion is a simple air-bag, and does not provide enough support for the occupant. I've had complaints when hitting bumps, as my passenger complains of hurting back/neck. Please do something about the crappy seat cushion. 2) 3 point harness: Most car-seats have an intermediate clip to join shoulder straps, this does not, and I find that the shoulder straps can slip off the shoulders. Please include some sort of clip to join the two shoulder straps, so they don't slide off shoulders. 3) The mounting hardware does not have adjustability, so you'll need to fashion your own method of mounting the seat lower, or use their default with the seat mounted higher (which will significantly effect your ride quality). Please consider offering brackets with multiple pre-drilled holes. Overall I'd buy this again, but try to leave room in the budget for a better seat-cushion, extra strap hardware, and be prepared to roll up your sleeves and be creative with mounting the seat (or deal with a higher center-of-gravity). ... show more

  • Unacceptable - screws for the rear supports stripped during installation - cheap steel
Style: Child Carrier
I purchased this after reading the reviews. The problem and it is more than a problem, perhaps a recall is warranted, is the screws which attached the rear supports to the seat stays are cheap steel and easily stripped with little torque applied. The design of the seat has these two bars which extend from the seat rack and attached to the seat stays (those are the tubes on the bicycle which are usually welded a little behind and beneath the seat and join the chain stays at the rear axle). I do most of my automotive maintenance and for decades have done bicycle maintenance and repair. I am familiar with the torque requirements of various fasteners. The carriage screw bolt is 10mm. I used my ¼” drive ratchet, not the 3/8" or 1/2" (it is almost impossible to attach this seat using an adjustable wrench as described in the directions). I applied normal effort to the wrench and behold the screw easily stripped – both sides. I replaced the screws with hardware quality ¼” bolts and nuts and was able to torque them down completely. Now the supports are secure. Fortunately, I did not have the same experience when torqueing the nuts that support the upper mounting bracket to the seat post. This problem needs to be corrected by the manufacturer immediately. It is unacceptable to use such poor quality hardware on these critical components. ... show more

  • Works like a charm
Style: Child Carrier
Works like a charm. Put in on in about 20m. Just needed a screwdriver and it was delivered earlier than expected. My son is 4 months at 15lbs and 24 in and he fit just fine. Adjustable straps work great and it's very sturdy.
