As others have mentioned, these were a little to large to fit in the terminals of my 2016 Wrangler. It was easy to split one in half, lengthwise, and use half on each post. The terminal then fit easily over the shim, with a bit of light tapping with a rubber mallet. The terminals tightened up well and I have no more electrical issues. ... show more

    • Little lead lifesavers!
I had no idea car battery terminals vary in size until I tried to connect my auto's cables to the new battery I had just installed. They were loose and couldn't be tightened enough to make a solid connection. I found these post shims on Amazon, ordered them and they arrived the next day. They fit over the new battery's terminals and voila, a firm, tight, secure fit. Problem solved! ... show more

    • Well worth it to fix a loose fitting clamp
The battery post shim works fine. I only needed 1 of the pair for my 2014 Kia Soul - for whatever reason the + just doesn't grip and got tired putting the + clamp back into place every so often. As others have stated probably could get cheaper locally but eh, so much more convenient to find it on Amazon and have it delivered to your door and for the cost was worth fixing the ever so often issue with the + clamp. Reason for 4 stars well, these are made with a soft malleable material, shipped in bubble envelope, needless to say they were squashed. Being malleable at least it wasn't broken and a few minutes of work with some pliers got them basically back into near picture shape...lots of indents and such but usable. Product itself works great, being malleable can make it conform to different sized posts although may not fit all. Looks like CBC has the best price on Amazon. Cheaper in retail store, maybe but not as convenient. Packaging could be better in a more durable shipping box to keep the contents from squishing or perhaps some type of insert to keep it from being crushed as easily. I had an issue with loose battery connections in one of my older cars. This was a consistent issue ever since I started to change the battery myself. I don’t remember but at one time I had a couple of copper sleeve to enlarge the posts. I had misplaced those sleeves long ago. So, I wrapped the battery posts with Aluminum foils every time I replaced the battery. I have been wrapping the battery posts for quite a few times and while this trick does work, I wanted something more permanent. So, I measured my battery posts and the inner diameter of the battery clamps. I searched pages and pages of battery post shims on Amazon trying to find the correct one. I just could not find the one I need. Finally, I just ordered one and hoped for the best. These battery post shims came and they just dropped on the posts of a new battery posts without any issue. However, my battery clamps could not go over the capped posts now. This is not really a surprise but I was not willing to go back to using Aluminum foils again. I hacksawed the battery post shims and removed the cap and split the shim in half. I placed half of the shims onto the battery posts and this was just enough to allow me to tighten the battery clamps. Since I only cut one of the shims, I now have a pair of spares in case I misplaced the installed ones. In retrospect, it would have been a very easy fix if I were to obtain shims with correct size. However, due to there are so much variables, it would be pure luck if I get correct ones for the battery posts. My suggestion is trying your best to get the right size but it would work regardless as you can trim them to fit. Get some shims that are made from lead as lead is quite easy to cut and trim. ... show more

These were too big for my application, but as many have stated, split and apply what you need. I feel more confident in a secure battery connection after installing these. I am however sure cheaper options would perform just as well.

Bought these for my pickup, as my battery cable clamps won't tighten onto the battery posts. These are too big to be any help. Still searching for the right solution. These ain't it.

    • Excellent and inexpensive batter post shims
The mechanic at the smog station noticed loose battery connection on our 2000 Honda Insight with the new 12V battery. I ordered this pair to tighten up the posts. I had to use a plier to gently press the top end a bit in order to slide the cable ends in, but little patience should make this happen without problems. Once to reduce the diameter of these shims, it should work out fine. Don't pay too much attention to the negative comments as the material is very soft and careful hands should get this attached in no time. After you have attached the shims to the battery cable ends, place them on the battery posts and tighten. It can't be made any better and if it didn't work, it would have been my fault. ... show more
