I ordered this as a Christmas present for my 5 year old grandson. As it's a vine item, I had to take it out of the box so I could review it. Overall, it's sturdy plastic pieces but I don't see how a 3 year old would be able to "play" with this. This is better geared for 5-7 year olds.

My son is obsessed with cars and engines, so this set was right up his alley. It says ages 3 and up, but this set is a bit advanced for a three-year-old and will likely require some assistance. It comes with instructions, which helped a lot with assembly. The tires and other parts were not attached initially. The set comes with a sheet of stickers to apply. The only thing I dislike is that batteries are not included. For the price, I think they could afford to throw in some batteries.

Be careful. It's a neat concept but way too loud for us. Never going to understand why toy makers think children cannot hear but they are definitely can and have been on earth a lot less time and haven't damaged them yet. Husband is a mechanic and we thought this would be great for our son since he sees daddy working on cars too.

So I got this for my 5 year old son. His attention is minimal and it's so hard to find something that he actually wants to sit down and play with. Once I got it put together, which wasn't all that hard, it didn't seem like he liked it. But once he really understood what it was, I have found him pretending to be a mechanic and try to fix the school bus. The noises are really loud though so be prepared for that. I think it's a great toy for him to learn about all kinds of stuff. 10/10!

This school bus engine repair kit is a very cool toy. This is a great gift for a parent and child together. It is a great learning tool. I wanted this for my son and grandson. Daddy can work with his little buddy to take the engine apart and put it back together again. He can teach him parts of the engine and how they work. This may be more of a learning tool that an ordinary toy at first. He wouldn't want to lose parts in a toy box. This will probably be a daddy/son toy until my grandson is older and able to work on it independently. I recommend this toy. It is well made and very practical - teaching a useful skill.
