This is easy to put together. You'll need some adjustments of the track supports so that the cats stay on the tracks consistently. All of that only takes about 5 minutes or so. After that, it's all fun. My boy and figured out the timing to put more cars on the tracks, then we'd see how many cars we could get going at once before the inevitable crash at the intersection. Pretty soon the housemates and landlady all joined in and everyone was laughing when we'd mistime adding a new car or when crashes would happen. We probably spent an hour playing and laughing. This was a hit of a present and is quite fun to watch. Make sure you use hot wheel cars only and try to stick to the normal shaped cars to ensure they fit through the wheel shoot appropriately. My 6 year old daughter wanted a hot wheels track for Christmas and being a girl dad who had hot wheels as a boy I was more than happy to get it for her. It's a bit loud but what the hell it's a race track. What real race track is quiet? If she grows up to be an engineer of roads, race tracks, or an Indy 500 driver, I'll be in for even more noise.
