This is easy to put together. You'll need some adjustments of the track supports so that the cats stay on the tracks consistently. All of that only takes about 5 minutes or so. After that, it's all fun. My boy and figured out the timing to put more cars on the tracks, then we'd see how many cars we could get going at once before the inevitable crash at the intersection. Pretty soon the housemates and landlady all joined in and everyone was laughing when we'd mistime adding a new car or when crashes would happen. We probably spent an hour playing and laughing. We got this for my 10 year old for Christmas and she's obsessed! I feel like I won the parenting award this Christmas because of this purchase. It was very quick to set up and boy is it powerful! You can get like 4 or 5 cars running on this thing and the crashes are epic, but it doesn't fling the cars too hard or far. It's held up to not only my 10 year old using it, but also her 2 year old cousins. One thing that doesn't bother me, but may bother other parents, is that it is pretty loud. I think the noise is worth if for how cool it is and honestly, it's pretty easy to drown out. But I figured I'd mention that because I know it could annoy some people. My 5 year old grandson loves this racetrack! The cars go so fast and eventually crash into each other leaving a single car winner. It works better than I expected. We did get an incomplete set with missing parts but Amazon sent a replacement!

Our little guy who just turned 3 loves this track. We got it for him for Christmas, and he hasn't stopped playing with it yet, a month later. For him this is super unusual, as he loses interest pretty quick with most toys--playing with a new one a lot for a day or two and then only every now and then. It was super easy to set up, requires 4 D batteries which we grabbed from the local convenience store (still has the same batteries and running fine so the toy doesn't seem too battery-hungry), and is really easy to play with, even for a 2 or 3 yr. old. My only complaint is that not all hot wheel cars function well on the track. Any standard hot wheel fits perfectly fine, but most are too heavy for this toy, as the belts that "shoot" the cars aren't quite powerful enough to get them around all 4 tracks. These cars usually make it around 1 or 2 loops, then fall off because they don't have enough speed. Most of my toddler's cars were actually built in my generation or earlier, and have been passed down (my uncle had a big collection) so I'm pretty sure they made hot wheels a lot heavier back then. He has several newer ones that are lighter, and a couple non-hot wheel cars that are SUPER light, still fit, and run even faster on the track, so plenty to play with. I just wish all or most of his cars ran well on this track. ... show more
