Features

  • Upright Bass Dual Sensor Rockabilly Pickup System
  • Include Dual Volume Controls
  • Passive System, No Battery Required

Description

The Schatten RB-2 Rockabilly Upright Bass Pickup System includes two sensors, one for the bridge and another for the fingerboard, each with its own volume control. A rosewood instrument jack assembly clamps between the D and A strings just above the tailpice. The entire system is prewired and requires no soldering or drilling. The RB-2 is a passive system that has enough output to drive an amplifier directly, but you can add a preamp or direct box if you need more control over the sound or a stronger signal for plugging into a mixer board or PA system. The main RB sensor element is designed to fit in the wing slot of a bass bridge. Normal placement of the sensor is in the bass side slot. The sensor has a nominal thickness of 0.25″ (6.35mm) and requires a slot opening of approximately 0.225″ (5.7). The fit of the sensor in the slot is meant to be snug and there is intended to be a slight interference fit. The sensor will compress slightly as it is pushed into the wing slot. Bridge not included. The second sensor element mounts to the underside of the fingerboard for that Rock-A-Billy string slap. Both sensors have a volume control so that you can individually adjust the effect of each pickup.

I little light weight but does the trick for the price.

  • This pickup does exactly what it says!
I play upright bass in a rockabilly/psychobilly band and the pickup I had before for my bass was absolutely terrible (By the way, do not under any circumstances buy the shadow. It's way over priced and it doesn't work very well.) so I bought this pickup. I am extremely satisfied with this pickup because it is ideal for slap style. What makes it so great is the second transducer that attaches underneath the fingerboard. The only issue I had with this pickup is that the main transducer shown in the picture, the one attached to the bridge, does not fit into most bridges where it says it should. To compensate for this, I had to shove, rather forcefully, the first transducer into the heart on the bridge. Luckily, it barely fit there. Once I was able to do this, however, the tone quality that the pickup was able to produce was very satisfying and exciting. Do be careful with all of the elements on this pickup because they seem rather fragile. Overall I would highly recommend this pickup to anyone who is looking to play rockabilly/psychobilly. ... show more

  • Worst pickup I've tried
for 2 reasons: the output is so low that w/ my amp on full I was still under half the volume of other pickups I've used, and second it keeps falling off. The adhesive for the neck part of the pickup doesn't stay for longer than an hour or two and has to continually be reattached (which I stopped doing when i realized that the pickup doesn't have near enough output for me to use it in any situation). ... show more

  • Sounds so good - great for rockabilly
Easy installation - my amp is a Galien Krueger and the sound is rockabilly bliss. First night at the local club everyone way saying they loved my new sound on the upright bass
