  • Seems to work
Size: Feather Color: 925 Silver
I put this on my alto and it seemed to have worked. My tone sounded great and I had minimal squeeks. Its just as pictured and comes with no instructions.

  • Glorified Junk
Size: Flower Color: 925 Silver
The media could not be loaded. This things is seriously trash because it doesn't do what it says it would do. Most don't know reviewers don't get these things for free, really. We have to pay taxable income value, so what I spent to get it is more than I can imagine... it's full asking price is just straight up theft. It's coated plastic. It cannot effect tone because it fulls the hole where you put your sheet music... which is merely an anchor and everyone knows that. As a decoration piece alone? It isn't even that cute. It's not as detailed as the advertisement. I'm ok with taking a loss here, but I strongly suggest you don't unless you just really really want a critter or flower on your horn. ... show more

  • Jewelry for your horn
Size: Bird Color: 925 Silver
Skeptical about this device. I’ve tried to research about the effectiveness of this item and there is a lot of mixed reviews. There must be some merit in there somewhere. It sounds like it does have positives, but the cost outweighs its returns. I was planning on getting some help with reviewing this item since I don’t have a saxophone yet, but since it looks to be more of an aesthetic item, I found a different use for it. It is kind of like jewelry for your instrument as long as you have the lyre attachment placed in the correct orientation. The bird is pretty adorable. One of my trumpets can wear the bird, but other trumpets are not compatible. The bird currently lives on my vintage baritone and it’s so cute. I love seeing it there. Does it do anything? Yes, it puts a smile on my face. ... show more

  • Sound Booster
Size: Panther Color: 925 Silver
I can’t say this makes my playing any better but I like the decorative element and the panther does give inspiration. It is easy to install. This does not increase the weight of the saxophone. My favorite thing is knowing there is a possibility that this booster will make my playing sound better.

  • An overpriced trinket!
Size: Dragon Color: 925 Silver
Just FYI, I have been a sax player for about 40 years now. I am a lifetime musician with LOTS of performance experience and a good deal of training and education in music theory. I am NOT a full time working musician but have often been paid to perform across a wide range of venues. I am classically trained but have been doing jazz improv for about ten years. That’s where I’m coming from in terms of knowledge and experience. So here’s the thing. I did some searching and there is a great deal of contention within the saxophone world as to whether or not any of the “sound boosters” that fit in the lyre hole are of any significance. I have heard multiple recordings of accomplished players doing side by side samples with or without the device on board. I have done the same with my tenor and my alto. It is possible there is some change in vibration pattern. That would probably be the case if I put a couple of hose clamps tight around the neck joint or placed two or three tight fitting rubber O-rings in the same spot. The question is not whether the vibration pattern can be modified by altering the pressure/weight/mass around the neck joint. And as far as that goes the same might be said of making a similar change almost anywhere on the saxophone. It is, after all, just a long tube that carries sound and vibrations all along its length. The real question is will it make a “positive” difference in the sound of the horn. Claims like “enhanced tonal clarity” or “improves the resonance and focus of high and low notes” are common. And I ask, “According to whom?” What does “enhanced” even mean in reference to a tone and just how does such a device “improve” the resonance and focus of any note? If it makes the pitch of the note more accurate, that should be obvious and measurable, but nearly every other reference is almost entirely subjective. Maybe I LIKE the buzz in the background of my ancient Yamaha tenor or the full throated mellow sound of my almost 40 year old Keilwerth SX90R. The claims that one of these little devices will make your sound “better” overall is, to me, a simple marketing ploy with no real evidence to back it up. If you want to improve the tone, pitch, clarity, and fullness of your sound as a sax player, there is a simple answer: PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! Do long tones. Work on your breathing. Experiment with mouthpieces and reeds. Find a good mentor or teacher who shows some mastery and learn from that person. And find your own sound, the one that works for you and IS you, and have FUN with it! I won’t say there is nothing to be gained from one of these devices. Maybe there is. And maybe if you believe there is, it will be so. The mind is a powerful thing. But I will say I am (I think reasonably) skeptical about how much anyone can expect to gain from a tiny piece of metal placed in a hole near the neck joint. Obviously, you have to figure that out for yourself. As a final note (pun intended), the price of this thing is ridiculous/ludicrous/absurd! There is no science in the making of these things or at least there is none referenced. The size and weight are apparently completely arbitrary. There is no mention made of the material used to make this device as far as I can find. Is it steel? Brass? Tungsten? Carbide? If there were any science involved here, it would make a notable difference what material was used and things like its weight, density, and shape. Just to make a point, I made my own out in my shop from some high carbon steel and some HSS in the form of a couple of small nuts, all held together with a lot of solder. Mine actually fits better than the one I bought and weighs maybe 1/10 of an ounce more. It does everything the original does, maybe even better (?) Who can say? The one I made might have cost me as much as $0.25 (yes, a quarter) and maybe 15 minutes of my time. $89.00 is unconscionable. I got mine through the Vine program, as noted. I would not have paid even $20 for a tiny metal bobble with a dragon’s head. Cute, but not a precision piece of equipment. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this item!!! Stay patient. Love the music! Love yourself! Feel the joy! JUST KEEP PLAYING! ... show more

  • Very small but nice looking dragon head that is quite functional. Unique.
Size: Dragon Color: 925 Silver
Exactly as described but one warning, the photo makes the item look a lot bigger than it is in real life. The included video does a much better job at giving you a better understanding of the size. The details of the dragon are well done and it fits the sax perfectly. Its a nice touch to give your sax a unique look and custom feel. It makes it yours. The sound quality with and without is slightly different, better with for sure. The price seems a bit high for me but I won't remove a star since we all know what it costs before we buy it. The metal is nice quality and durable. I plan to try to polish it up a bit more to give it a brighter shine. ... show more
