  • Good accurate saw.... but buy it for the safety. Good accurate saw.... but buy it for the safety.
So far so good. I was really concerned about the fence drift issue mentioned by others and called out in some YouTube reviews. Maybe it’s just my saw but I saw no evidence of that on my saw. I can lock unlock and lock again with no drift whatsoever. I will update if that changes with use. The saw came well packaged. Amazon / CEVA delivery notifications are really inaccurate. Each message / reminder for delivery called out a different time window for the delivery. In the end the product showed up. Delivery guys were good. It was very easy to unpack and I was able to get it setup in under 5 mins. Everything was perfectly aligned out of the box. Update: not even 3 months in and it has proven its worth. I had turned off the saw but the blade was still spinning and my thumb grazed the blade. Safety feature went off. Only a slight scratch. Probably would have needed stitches if it was a regular saw. ... show more

  • Excellent product, exceptional customer service
I’ve owned a Sawstop Jobsite Pro saw for about two years now. The saw’s home is my garage where I make things for our home, friends, and an occasional volunteer project. It is the workhorse of my shop and I value it for its safety, accuracy, and ease of use (in that order). Recently I began to experience problems with the saw slowing down in the middle of cuts, and finally it stopped completely about a third of the way through a cut. Based on the solid red light on the control switch, the troubleshooting guide indicated that the brake cartridge needed to be changed, which I did. However, two days later, the same thing happened again. Time to call Sawstop. I got a technical rep on the phone within a minute or two after I was connected to his department. I described the problem and he suggested I do some diagnostic checks on the cables and belt inside the saw. He sent me an email with instructions (with photos with arrows) on how and what to check out. He said that it if everything was okay, it was probably the capacitor in the control switch, which would mean that the switch needed to be replaced (they don’t change just the capacitor). We discussed the warranty, which expired last year, but he said if all the connections look okay, call him back and he’ll see what he can do. Everything seemed tight and okay inside the saw, so I called him back on Thursday and received a new switch on Friday, without charges. And with help from more of Sawstop’s how-to photos and arrows, I easily installed the replacement switch and the saw is back up and running again. I don’t write many reviews, but when the quality of a company’s customer service matches the high quality of its product, you know you’ve got to share your story. Kudos, Sawstop, and thank you! ... show more

  • Well built saw
Although this is a portable saw, it performs as well as a cabinet saw.

  • great buy
I have only had this saw for 2 weeks but I am so glad I bought it. The Safety feature is fantastic, set up was a breeze. I double checked for accuracy & everything was spot on. Instructions were very good, which is hard to come by these days. I was reluctant to spend the extra money for this saw but I am glad I did, I am getting up in age & maybe not as attentive as I should be sometimes. Great birthday gift. Highly recomend. ... show more

  • Not what I expected
This saw is all plastic and some kind of coated metal and is open bottomed thus super loud!! Loudest tablesaw I’ve used in 50 years of ship experience! Also one must assure that the clearance between blade and brake cartridge is a certain dimension. But it’s not adjustable!!?! My dado set was slightly over 8”. When I checked the clearance it seemed ok. Turned the saw on and the brake was set off!! Destroyed my blades and I had to buy a new cartridge. I had used the saw with an old dado set and it worked for a while and then quit! Just would flash some series of lights. SawStop sent me a new cartridge and that’s the brake that was activated. Hate this saw! Also the fence can pop free if you use the fence to guide with your fongers. One star is generous! Think I’m too old for this saw! ... show more

  • 3 Stars but I definitely love the saw. Just being honest for my review
I've had the saw 6 months and use it in a teaching workshop environment so this is obviously fantastic for that. Novice makers using a table saw almost always for the first time. Having the protection of the sawstop system makes me so much more comfortable teaching on this than a standard jobsite saw. I also use it for personal projects and building stuff around the shop. Most reviews sum things up pretty good, but here is why I am giving it 3 stars even though personally for me, its a 5 star product. - The construction is simply, OK. Way more plastic than I expected. Doesn't have a high-end feel you'd expect from a 1400 dollar saw. For instance, the dust port on the saw is already splitting open on me. - Having the larger bed is one of my favorite features. I hate so many compact and jobsite saws because I struggle to have room to do cuts on wide boards, especially cross cuts. Having the bed a little larger is great. - What the hell? Why did they make the dust ports so hard to connect anything to?? Thankfully I had a lot of different fittings and could hack it together, but I expect a lot more for the price. Hell, my 80 dollar belt sander has a standard 2 1/2" port that I can just slide a hose onto. Why not with this thing? Very frustrating. - The blade guard dust collection works, but I hate using blade guards, and often can't use them on thin cuts. And I am frequenty making cuts that are too thin to work with the blade guard. The struggle with the dust port is you need some way to get your hose out of the way or your workpiece will often run into it at the end of the cut - It does fold up and stores away pretty great. Easier than other saws I've used. I didn't think I would be folding it up much, but I do more than I thought. Its just nice to be able to fold it up and get it out of the way when cleaning up. - It isn't incredibly powerful, but it has cut through 3+ inch ash, maple, and walnut for me. I used my jointer jig to rip about 40 pieces of 2"x2"x24" pieces of maple. No issues. Just need to feel the saw and not push it hard when you can tell it is starting to struggle. Slow down and let the saw do the work. Finally...THE FENCE I really don't like it, but it has been accurate for me. The biggest issue is that when you go to lock it down, it tends to jump left or right, making your measurements off. After using it a lot, I basically slowly lock it in, see which way and how much it jumps, unlock it, roughly compensate using my best guess where to put it so it lands on the correct measurement. It stays pretty much square if locked in correctly. I check it often though or check it when it looks like it is off square a little bit. My big big suggestion with the fence, is while you are locking it in, push it forward. I had the same issue with a small compact table saw I had. If you put some forward pressure on the locking mechinism, it makes it lock in more true and doesn't jump as much. I am already looking to replace it, but will probably wait on that since its a 200-300 dollar upgrade and the fence really isnt that bad to warrant dropping 300 bucks. FINAL THOUGHTS...if you can afford this guy, you can probably afford the contractor version. I'd highly recommend getting it over this, assuming you have the space for it. If you don't have the room or need to be able to fold it up, then this is your saw. The comfort I have using this over any non-sawstop table saw is what makes it worth it. Just keep the kickback at bay and use proper table saw techniques and you will be safe as can be. ... show more

  • Good Saw but Dies fast (updated)
Bought this almost a year ago (dec 31st last year) finally started using it on a job a month ago and it’s died just on Christmas Eve, tried a new brake cartridge no joy. No lights light up, can’t get through to support because it’s Christmas of course, no idea if they’ll get back to me before the warrantee runs out because of the time of year, left messages. Not happy on such an expensive saw. Update 1: I've upgraded the review as I managed to get through to SawStop and they were very helpful in diagnosing and sending out a new switch assembly as the fault. Printed instructions weren't included but I found them on the site and they were easy to follow. The saw is back up and running! Overall review : If you're looking at a sawstop it's for the safety features. You don't need any other justification. If you want to know is it a good saw for that money, well it's equivalent to saws about the third the price, those are good saws, the DeWalt, Bosch, Hitachi etc. It compares well to them. Setup is easy, it has some nice features for ergonomics like tool free insert and riving knife change, single handed fence. The mobile cart is really nice, sturdy and effortless to fold out or away. Power is a little less than you might expect, but it has overheating protection which means it shouldn't burn out your motor. It struggled to resaw a maple plank at full extension but did get through it. The fence gets a lot of negative reviews online, for me I found it fine. If you have your hand close to the fence a lot I can see how you might knock the locking mechanism during a cut which would suck, but so far I haven't done that myself. I don't like that it moves as you lock it though and has a lot of play when unlocked. Otherwise though it does the job and is pretty easy to true. Lots of people have had a lot of luck with the setup being perfect out of the box with this saw. Not me. The blade was correct, but the fence and insert plate were quite far out, and the markings for the extension were out over 1/8th. I'd recommend checking rather than trusting on this, setting the saw up to be true will save you a lot of time once done. Overall yes you might be buying it for safety, but you are also getting a good quality saw with it. If I had one regret it's that I didn't spring for the contractor saw. The JSS is good, and it's great that it folds away to take up less space in my garage, but I worry about how long it will last and it's not the quietest saw while I gather than contractor is one of the quieter saws out there. ... show more
