  • My ‘Go To’ Gloves
Color: Black-S01 Size: Large
First things first, I ski almost every day in the winter, over 100 days most season; I’m also a Mountain Host at Park City Mountain so some days when I’m out, I don’t have the option to come in whenever I want. As such I have five pairs of ski gloves (see photo), they each have a purpose, a place, and a condition. I also want to add that my rating for these gloves is based on their suitability for my needs, their value, their quality, and their appearance. I have given these Savior Heated Gloves 5 Stars because they are my ‘go to’ gloves for most days on the mountain, but I still wear other gloves when the conditions or situation warrants. These gloves seem well made, I’ve worn them for probably 50 days this season and don’t see any threads coming loose, holes, or other obvious flaws or wear (though the writing on power button has worn off). They are also good looking and being mostly black, go with most any clothing combination you might wear — the simple white lines that decorate them add a little style. The glove palm and finger tips have a leather covering for additional strength. The heating function is reliable, I turn them on and they get warm; there are three settings: low (1 light), medium (2 lights), and high (3 lights), when you turn them on they startup in the high heat setting. I would say these gloves are suitable for ‘most’ average / normal ski days, for me that means 15 to 30 degrees. If you keep them on low and turn them off when at lunch or taking a break, the batteries should last the entire day (I believe the spec says 6 hours which seems about right). If your ski days include many days below 10 degrees I’d say you’d want to carry a spare set of batteries as you’d likely be on at least the medium setting and possibly high for most of the time (I do have a spare set for those occasions). I don’t think these gloves are suitable for sub zero temperatures for any length of time. On the other hand for warmer ski days (~25 deg +, depending on your tolerance), the gloves are warm enough that you might not even turn them on. Some days I might only turn them on for a few minutes after I’ve been using my phone without gloves on the chairlift, pop them on high for a couple minutes to warm back up. Each glove has a zippered pocket that holds and connects one battery, the batteries connect easily and the zippers work smoothly. The gloves include a ‘wall wart’ charger with a two connector cable so you can charge both batteries at the same time, I haven’t actually timed how long it takes to charge a totally dead battery, but I’d figure 4 - 6 hours. The batteries are semi-proprietary with a rectangular shape and a barrel connector, they are rated at 7.4V 2200MAH 16.2WH. I did have a problem with one battery, I contacted customer support and they quickly mailed a replacement — good service! Here are the Pros and Cons I find with the Savior Heated Glove: Pros: * Reasonably Priced * Well made and stylish * Fit well, are comfortable, and flexible. * Good heat settings for most days and uses Cons: * Power button can be easily turned on or off by accident * Need extra batteries for colder days * Wall wart charger instead of USB * No ‘touch screen’ capability I have pictured my glove collection below, as I said the Savior is my daily go to glove, but each has a purpose. I’ve also owned better heated gloves (each held two batteries), but they were three times the cost of the Savior and didn’t fit as well. From left to right: Head gloves — keep in work locker for casual use, Columbia gloves — springtime gloves for warmer days, Swany Leather Gloves — most comfortable, very well made, Free The Powder gloves — heavy powder days and very cold weather, Savior Heated Gloves — daily use, with and without heat. ... show more

  • So Far So Good
Color: Black-S01 Size: Small
My husband has a pair of the $400,+ heated gloves that you get at the ski shop. First the battery was defective, then the heater stopped working within the warranty period, so thankfully they sent him a new pair. Well these lasted maybe one season, and now only one works. The warranty was only for a year so he is out of luck. I was hesitant to spend that kind of money for something that might not last, so I stuck to my down mittens with disposable warmers. Then I found these. The price was right and with free returns and the exact same warranty as the expensive ones, it seemed worth a try. I’ve had them in use two days. The first day was extremely cold, between 0 - 10 degrees and overcast. They worked pretty well but I did notice my little finger was a little cold. (Along with the rest of me). With my mittens, my thumbs would have been freezing, so this was definitely an improvement. Took them out today and it was quite a bit warmer, between 10 -20 with the sun out. My hands were toasty warm and I needed to turn the heat down. I would say these are worth every penny. Since I’ve only had them on two days, I don’t know how they will hold up, but I will update this if I have any issues. I bought the small size since I do have longer fingers, I was afraid XS would be too short. They are a little roomy on the inside, but fit pretty well overall. They felt really stiff at first, but seem to be relaxing a bit. I am very happy with them so far. ... show more

  • Real world blizzard tested
Color: Black-S01 Size: XX-Large
-10 degree days. 35 to 40 below wind chills. I ended up getting these in time to use them when needed...when the cold is beyond unbearable. Winter storm turned into a blizzard and im using a charged up pair of these new gloves I gifted myself for Christmas. These gloves do offer heat and they can get comfortable on the highest setting. However, you run into an issue with battery life and getting to a point where if you go beyond the 3hr window on max setting the batteries need charging and the gloves will only stay heating on a level lower (the button on the gloves will begin to blink). So if you plan to use them daily, you will need to make sure you charge them daily to keep the max setting available to you when you need them in bitter cold. This may be a problem if you have a job out in the elements that is 5 to 6hrs or more. You will need to buy a backup set of batteries to keep the gloves running at its best setting (which is the only option here with how bad the cold is here). I fail to understand the 3 level system on these gloves when in reality the "lowest setting" really is useless and instead should be "high/low." Also, make your expectations realistic when the cold is artic...the gloves will keep your hands from freezing but the area around the pinky and outter palm is in need of more heating element/material. The rest of your hand feels fine when the cold hits except the area I mentioned. The battery needs to be bigger to hold more power. I havent been able to return home since the weather got bad and the roads are impossible to drive. im in a hotel unable to access the charger for these gloves and I am on day three running on the second highest setting since my batteries are running down. Im not frostbitten but it would be nice if these gloves had a little more longevity on a single charge. The gloves are a bit on the bulky side but most winter gloves are that are used in the extreme conditions. The pricepoint can be hard to justify given that for my useage I would need to add nearly 50 more dollars to have the back up batteries ready in the wings to keep the warmth going for extended periods of time. If you addressed the battery life and took the steps to add more heating element/material to the pinky/side of the hands inside the glove to make the gloves more warm, there really wouldnt be much else I could knock them for. They would be a worthy investment. ... show more
