Purchase this ladder bookshelf for my daughter's classroom it works great for all of the storage needs that we have for her toys to arts and crafts to books the shelves are wide enough to use baskets if needed to keep organization up breeze. Delivery came within a few days and only took about 35 minutes for me and my teenager to put it together. Color is nice and goes with any color scheme and seems to hold quite a bit of weight so far and has held up nicely over the last couple months would definitely recommend purchasing again I will probably end up buying another one or two more just for more storage in the classroom. The last thing I wanted to mention is it's not very wide which is nice and it's not very deep but the deep enough to keep the books and everything where they need to be. ... show more

This is better quality than IKEA. Seriously. The instructions were easy to follow (and funny--like a note when it was time to get a friend to help with a step or time for snacks), all the holes were drilled correctly, there were no scratches or other damages on anything, all the needed parts were there, and the quality of wood was better. I like the lighter more cottage look of the chalked, doesn't over power a light colored room like the dark colored version would. It took two of us for most of it (though one would have done that part fine, I'm just instruction following challenged), but we did need three for the final part of connecting the two sides. Take your time, pay attention to the drawings, in the parts with more than one screw tighten each a bit to make sure everything is aligned first before cranking them all the way in place, and you should be fine. This is decently heavy, so it looks great. Holds a lot of books of varying sizes (I looked carefully at all the reviewer included pics to see if it would suit my needs, yep!)--and the shelves are deep enough to hold some figurines or rocks or something. I had wanted something that would hold a good amount of books, not look like the traditional rectangle bookcase, was open constructed so would look less 'heavy' visually in the space I wanted, was quality made, not torturous to put together, and didn't cost its purchase price to ship (yeah, IKEA, that's you now, like I want to spend the cost of two bookcases but only actually get one). Packaged very well. Lots of parts and steps, but quite easy to assemble. I was able to put it together fine on my own in about 45 minutes, but it would be a lot simpler with an extra pair of hands! I almost bought a much smaller one of these at Target, but I'm happy I came home and searched Amazon. Overall, I'm pleased with this shelf. It is very sturdy - especially for the price point. Assembly seemed to take a long time, but was not complicated or stressful. Instructions were the best I've used in a long time. Even though it's not solid wood it looks convincing - not like some of that cheesy stuff from low end stores. It matches well with actual antique oak furniture that I have. I love that there are six shelves too. My only complaints include one trim piece that wasn't finished on the ends, and now I see a slight bit of the particle board. It's such a small area that I'm not seriously turned off and a bit of brown paint will fix it (It's possible I made a mistake assembling it but I doubt it since it all locked together well.) I couldn't get the bottom trim to fit on correctly, so I pulled out the little anchors and gorilla glued it also. Like I said, great shelf overall. My biggest actual problem with it is, now that I have so much more shelf space, I may buy more junk to fill it! ... show more

Not going to lie, I was slightly overwhelmed when I laid out all the parts and pieces. However, the instructions were very easy to follow. Please keep in mind I tap out after a 20 piece puzzle so this was pretty "big" for me. Took me about 1.5-2 hours alone. I re-read the directions often and before I began, I sorted out all the bolts and screws into piles. This helped immensely. The most difficult part was toward the end, when you have to fit the shelves in just so. Once they were in place, it was incredibly easy to tighten everything and move it to my desired location. It matches two of my other pieces perfectly. I believe it's called white oak. It's a slightly distressed white, that looks almost gray or beige in some lights. It hold all of my collectibles perfectly, it's highly sturdy and I love it! I wouldn't change a thing! ... show more
