I had been looking for a small bookcase to replace my tired steel and glass Ikea shelves and these are pretty popular right now. It's got a solid 5 shelves and takes up minimal space...right on a small section of wall I wanted to fill. Let's start with assembly. It's the usual pin/camlock setup. Assembly took me probably an hour and wasn't really difficult. Just follow the instructions and pay attention to which part is the front or back, left and right. I missed one and had to restart the side over again. Ok, here's where I had to ding it. The plastic "caps" they send to cover the camlocks are just garbage. They have a nub on them that is supposed to push into the center of the camlock. Well, these bend and once they bend they are useless. They also don't completely cover the locks so they look pretty bad. I ended up throwing them out and just going with it "as-is". But I was definitely disappointed. Overall it's a really nice and sturdy shelving unit. I've got books, cameras, photos etc on it and I know it's nowhere near it's weight limit. Other than the plastic caps it's a quality set of shelves that look nice too. ... show more

I saw this bookshelf in a local furniture store and loved it. So when I found it on Amazon for less than I could get it in the store, I snatched it up and was not disappointed. The assembly instructions were pretty good with only a few areas where I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing and one area where I thought it made more sense to do it one way, but the instructions said to do it another (I followed the instructions, but should've gone with my gut because it would've been way easier!). This is laminated MDF, but it is of really good quality and very sturdy. I'd be surprised if this doesn't last for years and years to come! ... show more

I’ve bought a lot of furniture that requires assembly and this shelf right here is sturdy, pretty easy to assemble and looks quality for the price! It took me a little under 2 hours to put together, I wasn’t working fast by any means. All the pieces are labeled correctly and directions are easy to follow. Would recommend sorting out the screws etc. first so you can just go. I only needed a screwdriver to assemble. 10/10 recommend! ... show more

I'm happy with the bookcases (purchased two of them): they perfectly match the desk I use in my cabinet, they are pretty quality construction and everything fits great. The instruction is very thorough and detailed. Made in USA (this is important for me as I try to support American made products even if they are more expensive than similar things manufactured in other parts of the world). I hope they will serve me years. Now, a couple of gripes that prevented 5-star rating: (1) I didn't bother to inspect all the mounting hardware (100+ pieces in a plastic bag) and after I almost finished assembling the second bookcase, I realized one of the metal cam screws is defective (its thread is almost completely missing). I was absolutely sure Sauder customer service will send me a replacement, but the fact that I will need to disassemble 3/4 of the bookcase to install that single cam screw is not fun at all. Plus I'm sure the construction is pretty solid and every shelf is kept in place by multiple cam screws and pins, so not having one is not a big deal. (2) This is made of engineered wood that is essentially a small pieces of real wood mixed with the glue compound and pressed. That glue has pretty strong smell and will go away only after a week or so. It is not disturbing, but the aroma is strong and I don't think it is 100% unsafe, so make sure you keep your windows opened to let it out. ... show more

I am so incredibly happy with this ladder shelf. Assembly is very easy if you follow the directions. I made one error and assumed I knew what step to do next, but was quickly able to course correct and put it together. The latter is so extremely sturdy and looks like it is made out of the wood it is designed to mimic. A very very realistic and classy looking piece of furniture. Well worth every penny.
