  • Sturdy, heavy desk
I’m very happy with this desk. It was perfect for our home office. It did take several hours to put together, but everything was packaged to perfection and the instructions were very easy to read. I was able to do most of it on my own. My husband helped put the heavy pieces together. I highly recommend this desk and would absolutely buy other furniture pieces from this brand. ... show more

  • Lots of pieces and one wasn’t drilled!
This desk comes in two boxes, of course you can’t just start with box A and then move to box B because pats you need for assembly are scattered in both boxes. When you open the boxes prepare to be overwhelmed with the number of pieces in this kit, there are a lot! Some parts are marked directly on the piece with ink while others have stickers. I absolutely HATE when manufactures put stickers on the parts, BUT these all came off super easy and didn’t leave any sticker glue behind. With that said, because they come off so easily, a couple of them came off in the boxes so I had to really spend some time figuring out which part number they were. Once I had the drawer pieces all in piles as the instructions suggested I started the actual build. Right away in step 2 I found a pretty significant issue, one piece made it through production and packaging without a single hole drilled in it! Of course this was a piece that not only had through screw holes, but it also had partial thickness cam lock holes too. In a way I was fortunate to be the one to receive this particular problem piece since I do a lot of wood working I was able to take the piece into the garage and drill all the holes in the right places after a lot of measuring. Once I got past that step the rest of the build was pretty straight forward. Just follow the instructions and don’t rush. The desk looks nice and seems sturdy, I’m not a fan of press board furniture at all, so we’ll see how durable it is in the long run. My only real complaint so far is the one piece that made it through without the holes. ... show more

  • Love it
First, I’ll say that this is a great deal and especially for the price. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind. It comes in 2 huge boxes that I had to ask my neighbor to help me move because my fiancé wasn’t able to lift them with me. Those 2 boxes turned into what felt like 1000 pieces and took me (my beat guess because I completed it over a 2 day period) roughly 8 hours to assemble. I am super handy, a mechanic by trade and do most of the renovations around my own house. Now thag being said, it wasn’t hard to assemble at all, just time consuming. You will also mostly likely need a second person towards the end of the assembly to flip it over because it is quite heavy. However, heavy is good in the furniture world, it feels very sturdy and the desk top is rather large. Overall extremely satisfied and I didn’t spend $2000 at a furniture store for the same size desk. ... show more

  • Very Well Engineered and Manufactured
This desk is a model of precise engineering and manufacturing. Everything just fits together perfectly. The final product is beyond sturdy. Great reinforcement throughout. Instructions are very precise and well-illustrated - pay attention to them. The desk was ordered for Christmas, but the order fell through the cracks. Amazon redid the order to Sauder and, well, it'll be a late Christmas, early Valentine. Everyone was courteous and Amazon made a generous "Sorry" gift to my account. Get the delivery guys to put the two boxes where you're going to build it. HEAVY. Build it where you're going to use it if you can. Here are some hints on the building: 1. You know the carpenter's maxim: "Measure twice, saw once." Well, "Read twice, screw once." Pay close attention to the directions and don't skip around (much). 2. Get a GOOD #2 Phillips screwdriver. Make sure the tip is sharp. You're going to use it a LOT. 3. Label everything. Some parts are labeled but many are not. Label everything and get it organized. 4. I defy anyone to put together parts K, N, and CC as described in steps17 and 18. I had to put together the three components to form a unit that I then attached to the desk with the 27G connectors. [NOTE: If you do this, lay out the K panels on the desk to make sure you have the correct sides facing outward.] 5. Be patient. There's a long chain of steps to putting this together. There are a LOT of screws and it is tiresome to be using a screwdriver, but a power screwdriver could tear up the board. 6. A BIG ONE: The drawers don't slide well? A lot of complaints here on that. I took that into account, noticing that the slides have a little room for up/down adjustment and the drawer sides can be adjusted in/out on their 6G, 9G, 10G brackets. Crank the screws down tight, but just tight enough to hold and let the drawer position the slides. Then tighten all the way. Adjust if needed. 7. The only thing Sader was missing was some felt pads for the desk. I don't expect any sliding around but still insist on protecting my floors. Altogether a very fun project. This isn't wood, it's particle board, so we'll see how it holds up to wear and tear. I think this will stand the test of time and it is coming in at below 20% of the cost of a similar wood desk. ... show more

  • Drawers are terrible
I wanted to love this desk. I was looking for one that could face the room instead of having to face the wall, which left me with “banker” desks if I had hopes of hiding cords. This ticked all the boxes. It weighs a LOT so it was a little challenging to put together but all seemed fine for a short time. However, none of the mechanics for the drawers lasted- every single drawer now drops out of the tracks when you open them and I just removed one whole side of drawers to stack files in the hole instead. Definitely not what I expected for the money spent. I’m stuck with it but you don’t have to be. Find something else. ... show more
