  • Estate Black Finish
Color: Estate Black Finish Pattern Name: Coffee Table
Shipping: I was so worried it could arrive damaged but it was perfect out the box. All corners of shipping box had thick cardboard braces for padding so in case this 70lb box toppled over it could hopefully avoid damage. Out the box: Everything was packed pretty snug and care was taken to avoid any scratches to the surface of the wood. Assembly: Youll need -adjustable crescent wrench -phillips head screwdriver -hammer (didnt need it though) Two people about 1 hour Highly reccomend two people assemble. Instructions came with a link for video assembly. I preffered the video assembly as opposed to the paper instructions but the video did have two discrepancies when cross referenced with the paper instructions. First video assembly discrepancy was instructing you to use 18 of a certain screw but only needed 10 and the second discrepancy was it didnt mention to tighten the nuts with a wrench during one of the steps, luckily they were still accessible to tighten when we noticed. The only issue we really had was installing the lift top to the coffee table base. The two metal arms that are required to lift this top def caused some scratches inside where it needed to be installed. Obviously this occured while trying to line up the screw holes and I doubt there would be much we could have done to avoid it as one person has to hold the top while the other manuevers it to positon. Its not terrible just dissapointing since the rest of its flawless but I'll take this any day over major cosmetic damage. Use: Overall function is pretty solid. Weight is decent, you cant just slide it around, it takes a little effort. The top lifts up crazy quick and with little support required to get it up, in fact it has a tad bit of force too when opening so be mindful of this if youve got a can of pop or something similar in weight on top of it. The force of the arms trying to pop up could easily cause stuff to slide right off if you dont catch them in time. Closing the lid back to its original postion is fine though it didnt slam down to fast it maintained a slow steady balance with little to no support required for you to get it there. Once the top is lifted its not so much wobly but it is off balanced. Just resting my elbows on it while eating dinner caused it to want to tip toward us. I dont plan to use this with my laptop but I tested it for this review anyway. Using a laptop doesnt require much elbow resting more so wrist resting and this did not prove to be of any issue but again if your trying to lean on it with your elbow the table will start to tip at you. All tests were done with the coffee table completely empty at its base so its possible if some weight were added to the base by means of decorations, books, etc. it may help counteract this balance issue. Overall rating 4 stars because of balance issues ... show more

  • Love it!
Color: Estate Black Finish Pattern Name: Coffee Table
After debating for weeks and reading reviews over and over again, the pros outweighed the cons, and I added the table to my cart. I waited for it to go on sale (it seemed to fluctuate every week between the regular cost and sale price. I snagged it for $92). Opened the box and everything was neatly packaged. The underside of one piece had a couple dings/scratches in the finish revealing the particle board or whatever it's made of underneath, and one piece has some torn off finish on the edge (Pictures attached). Both damaged places will be hidden after assembly, so I continued with my build. First off, all of the pieces are heavy which gave me confidence that it'd be a solid table. The directions were super, super detailed, clearly laid out and very easy to follow. They were even humorous at times which I appreciated (Wish I'd snapped a picture of that also for example). This is (thankfully) not an Ikea item, where they wish you luck as you commit to a week-long build... it only took me about 1.5 hours by myself (although there is one step at the end where you will want some help for about 5 minutes, so grab a buddy or bribe your neighbor with a beer). The parts and hardware were well labeled and packaged, which made it really easy to make sure you're getting the correct parts that look similar (*cough cough* unlike my Ikea dresser which I made an error on last weekend). After fully assembled, I do like the final result. My livingroom is 10'x19' so I like that this table is large enough to not look small and odd, but also skinny enough to allow a decent amount of walking space through the livingroom. The table is heavy, so I'd recommend using both hands when lifting the table top up to you and lowering it, and put some furniture gliders on the bottom to assist with sliding for when you vacuum/clean/move. The top is slightly wobbly if you try to lift it on the top edge furthest from the hinges, so I normally grab it on each side right about where the hinges are attached and it works out well. Sorry for the dark photos, but hopefully this review offers some help towards your decision. I do not regret my purchase :) ... show more

  • Great table for the price
Color: Estate Black Finish Pattern Name: Coffee Table
For the price, this is a pretty good coffee table with a lift top. When I was searching, I saw a few comparable tables with a similar design that were $10 to $35 cheaper. However, I selected this one because the other options required another ~2 weeks to ship/deliver (and this came in 2 days) and this table had some additional design details (the feet, side depth, slightly rounded tabletop sides, and a little bit of molding at the bottom of the long sides) that the others did not. Other comments: 1) The lift mechanism works smoothly for me. I'll need to look into whether there is a way to tighten the mechanism so it lifts a little slower. Watch out for nearby little kids. 2) If the coffee table rests on a smooth surface, it can be challenging to put the tabletop back in the down position. Probably a non-issue if the table sits on carpet/rug or if you put some heavy items in the shelves. The latter of which is probably something you should do anyway in order to make the base steadier when the lift top is in the up position. 3) The under-table shelves are 9" H x 10" W (the side shelves) and 9" H x 12" W (the middle shelf). 4) The majority of the build can be easily handled by one person EXCEPT the last step. Having a 2nd person hold the table top while you screw in the lift mechanism makes things much easier. Otherwise you'll want a convenient pile of books/magazines to hold the table top for you. ... show more
