Sauder Dakota Pass Armoire in Craftsman Oak - We are pleased with this purchase of the Sauder Dakota Pass Armoire in Craftsman Oak. It arrived on the 2nd day of the estimated 5-day delivery range. It was in a flat cardboard box that was about 6 to 8 inches thick and about 5 ft tall. The driver left it propped up against the wall on the outer edge of our front porch (not an ideal place to leave it, but it was fine). The box was very heavy for one small-person. When assembled, it looks just as described and is neutral enough to be work well in many décor styles. All the parts were there as well as a few extra screws and nails. The instructions were understandable. It took slightly over two hours for one man with a power screwdriver to assemble. The height (just under 5 feet tall) is a real plus and a rare find allowing ample room for storage, but still allowing ample room for a tasteful wall hanging above it. The lower height also helps to minimize the danger of it toppling over. The lower height is the one factor that sold us on this Armoire over others we were considering. The drawer slides nicely and works well. The hanging pole fits and it works, though it's just barely long enough. We plan to buy some rubber tips (like the ones for a walking cane) to make the pole a little more stable. We switched out the knobs for some that were more suitable to our taste (a very easy, and inexpensive adjustment to do). The quality is not top-of-the-line but for $254.00, It is a good value for the price. For a casual space, it looks much more expensive than it was. Ok, first of all this is not solid wood...duh. I am not sure why so many reviewers are shocked by this. Anyways, if you can read and don't buy your tools from Walmart and keep them in a tacklebox in your house you can do this no problem. Directions are cake and after putting this together I had to laugh...I read a review about the gap in the doors and simply adjusted the gap screw and problem solved. Moving on...this is not some massive piece of furniture that you are going to climb in and end up in Narnia. Thats is exactly why I purchased it...I needed something to hang my body armor in and store some gear. The rod was the correct length despite all the reviews claiming the contrary. A note to the rod tho is is weight rated for 25lbs so I beefed it up to support the weight of my gear. All in all it is solid, it looks good and its cheap. For those looking for real wood move along and be prepared to spend $1000+ easy. Enjoy! ... show more

I’ve never written a bad review before but this cabinet was a huge disappointment. I get that it is cheap and you get what you pay for but the doors could at least hang straight and line up! And yes I have swapped them around and tried many different ways to see if they would hang different and they’re just bad all around. It’s not sturdy at all but luckily it’s just for a baby closet so it won’t have anything heavy in it. A lot of the instructions weren’t very clear but I’ve put together a lot of furniture and was able to figure this out. If I was able to have shipped it back I wouldn’t have and if I couldn’t do it again I would’ve bought a different one. A lot of the pieces had chips and scratches and most of them didn’t have labels on them to let me know what piece was what. A couple had stickers or letters printed on the side but most didn’t. The drawer doesn’t pull in and out very well you have to wiggle it out, also have done lots of adjusting with no results. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ... show more

This is what I was looking for, but it’s ugly!! I’m a woman, and I wanted something pretty, but this is the only Wood Closet I found with the clothing bar all the way across the top. I needed it for extra closet space. It works, it’s sturdy, and serves the purpose!

    • Good until I got to the drawer.....

Assembly - i am not a big fan of the cam system used to secure the top to the sides. I was really careful and everything went smoothly. Until it was time to insert the drawer. It got stuck and would insert smoothly. I figured out that the holes for the slides inside the unit were about an inch too low. I re-drilled the holes and re-mounted the slides and voila, the draw when it without a problem. This was disappointing. Features - the single screw holders for the clothes hanging bar are fine if you want to hang 6 shirts but put any more weigh on the bar and I would worry. I replaced the bar with a metal one with three screws holding each mount. It looks good but it has limitations and the drawer was a total fail. ... show more

Pattern Name: Armoire
We love these for many reasons: (1) they are smaller than most and very versatile and portable as a result, and fit in many places, (2) they are very affordable, (3) they look higher quality than the price and materials would indicate, and (4) we love the look of them. The cons are: (1) the hanging bar is too short and does not fit at all (others reported the same problem), and (2) we wish the "backing" looked like wood on both sides so that if the back of the armoire is exposed it looks like real wood, not a dark brown backing. We have written to the seller to find out if we can get a new bar and to determine if we might be able to get 2 additional backings as the backs of our armoires are in view and they would look better with a wood look on the backs too. ... show more
