Spent a lot of time trying to figure out which double pedestal desk I wanted and obviously settled on this one from Sauder because of the color and price. It was packaged very neatly and nothing was damaged which was GREAT. It comes in two boxes but the instructions were very clear and concise. It took me about 3-4 hours to put it together and at some steps it took my wife to help with turning it over as the desk altogether is about 180lbs. I wanted something with a dark wood grain color and it's hard to find considering nearly EVERY desk is cherry or black... but this specific color called Coffee Oak is trademarked by Sauder, which you can see on their website. The unique color and design reminded of me old German wood housing and furniture so I loved it right away. The texture is not shiny but is dull which was also a must for me, which I'm not sure if you can tell that by the picture or not. My last desk was an L shaped black desk that showed every greasy fingerprint and I didn't want to deal with that again. In the process of putting it together it got a couple scuffs, buuuuut this is manufactured wood... so it is to be expected that it scuffs up easier than real wood. But I think I could get a dark find pointed sharpie and color it in and you wouldn't know the difference because the grain in the design is black. Anyway, for the price this serves my needs and I'm really happy with it. EDIT (1/19/2020): I came back to add that after using this even more that it's MUCH hardier than I previous gave it credit for.     • Cheapest wood and fasteners. Very time consuming.

The whole desk is made out of veneer particle board and fiberboard. Poorest quality of wood. The desk took a full 8 hours to assemble. It was very time consuming. The center desk drawer was off center a little and rubbed on one side. I took it to the table saw and trimmed it down to fit. Some of the fasteners are questionable and are poor quality as well. I had to glue and air nail all the drawers together because they are very flimsy and the drawer bottoms are loose and very thin. I thought that heavy items in the drawers would bust out of the bottom. I also added some thicker bracing under the drawers so they can hold more weight. I used more glue for the top because I felt like if I lifted the desk up the top would come off. What made it easier to put together was I used a power screwdriver to screw in the screws and then hand tightened. The drawer glides seemed to work good. I was looking for a cheap school desk for college. Another recommendation, put it together in the room you want it in because I can’t fit it through my bedroom door. If I want to in another room I will have to take it apart enough to fit it through the doorway. ... show more

Quick and easy to install, my f***ing ASS!!! Yes, I’m cussing, because I’m LIVID!!! The directions are incomplete. There is no total instructional video. It took EIGHT hours and was a freakin’ nightmare with the pieces not even staying put together. And don’t even think about using a hammer to get a tighter fit, because the cheap material cracks and breaks! Don’t buy this!!! UPDATE: 7 months later, the drawers are lopsided. You can’t move the thing because it will fall apart. Not even Liquid Nails will completely work although it does help. Just don’t buy this desk. Go to a furniture store, pay the extra money and get something made out of REAL wood with a REAL wood top (not laminate) and not particle board. ... show more

I was able to assemble this by myself in about 5 hours or less. It's very sturdy. I love the color! There were a couple of small issues with drawer adjustments and one of the screw holes on the pencil drawer was drilled out a little big but my husband was able to fix that. Overall, it's the best value for my money that I was able to find and I'm very pleased! I bought the desk, 2 lateral files, the utility stand and 3 bookcases. ... show more

I love this desk. It is gorgeous and extremely well made. Add the Amazon assembly. I did and the guy had it perfectly together in 2 hours flat. I was blown away after other reviews regarding their experience with assembly. It would have taken me forever. I also got two library book cases and the filing cabinet I'm having assembled next week. This is my second Sauder desk. I love the quality of their items. I sold my other when I moved to Florida recently. By the way, this set goes great with a Floridian style home. If you get assembly with the desk, you absolutely will love it with no regrets whatsoever! ... show more

So much room! I’m 5’5” and I have to stand a bit to reach the front, and I love it! I’ve been stuck at a desk roughly half this size for far too long. Really great to spread your work out on, and tons of storage. Even though it has so much space, it doesn’t feel too big though, doesn’t overpower my small-ish guest bedroom. The color is a lovely neutral - slightly cooler tones of gray instead of brown with distress marks made in - I keep thinking I found chips! It’s a natural wood feel, not slick like many particle board desks. so I worry a bit about marring the surface, but I have ordered a blotter filled with blank paper to doodle on, as well as protect the desk. I made a mistake that involved glue. I contacted Sauder and they sent me new replacements and just charged shipping. They really stand behind their products. The company has been around for quite a while, and the wood feels substantial, not like particle board usually does. We worked on this over the corse of several nights, so I’m not sure how long it took. The instructions are very clear and methodical, and even add a little humor in them. This is definitely a 2 person job - the book clearly states so halfway through, but my stepdad, who is used to solo projects, thought some of the steps would be tricky with just one set of hands. Overall I am very pleased with my desk and would highly recommend it to anyone! ... show more
