I use this caliper for both machine work and wood working. My ancient dial caliper (45 years old) suffered a terrible tragedy when it accidentally fell on the floor rendering it unconcious. I like this one a lot more. I do some lathe work and it is nice to have a caliper that can be set to a zero so that with one measurement I know how much more to remove. The display is easy to read. I work in both metric and imperial so this is really handy too. I am happy with it and think it is a great deal for the $$$. All stainless steel, not plastic. Well, the read head is in a plastic body, but the rest is SS.

I use this to measure voice coils and gaps when rebuilding subwoofers. It works great. Just wish I could have gotten one that would measure up to a foot for a good price.

I bought this caliper to avoid scratching expensive wristwatches and fragile parts made of soft materials. It's virtually a replica of my steel digital caliper, except that it has no lock screw to keep the movable jaw from sliding after the reading has been taken. Understandable though, because a lock screw would likely mar the surface of the slide. The pictures show a display with two digits to the right of the decimal point when the metric scale is used, and those digits are smaller than the ones to the left. But the actual item has only one digit to the right (as the text on the listing describes). The inch scale does have two digits to the right of the decimal, though they're the same size as to the left. So resolution in metric mode is a bit lacking, but accuracy in both modes is excellent. The display is pretty large and easy to read compared to most steel calipers I've seen, but be aware that the display turns on automatically with the slightest movement of the movable jaw - it can happen accidentally. And the screen timeout is about three minutes, so be sure to turn it off manually to prevent battery drain. I've tried several other plastic calipers recently, but I haven't found any with even half the quality of this one. So I'm happy to deal with its warts, especially at the super low price.

This product precision, composition, light weight plus ease to modify (cut) for my DRO (Digital Readou) need was perfect. My need was DRO's (digital readout), on my Sherline lathes and mill they were perfect!! I use thes DRO's to get me close to the measurement I require then use the graduated scale on the feed handles for the exact measurement. I recommend this vendor (I've ordered from them twice), and this product IF you can work with .010".

I needed a set of calipers for larger objects that had better resolution than a square or tape measure. I have several 6 inch digital calipers so this is not my first set. These were priced competitively and arrived quickly. However, the first problem I had was the case was bright red (black in listing) and blow molded (not particularly hard). There was no cushioning and the caliper was rattling around (although bagged) and was turned on. I am uncertain how much battery remains but time will tell. One of the latches on the case was also damaged. My smaller less costly calipers have better cases and give me better confidence they will not be damaged (cushioned/hard cases). On the plus side, they included an extra battery. I added cushioning to my case using thin adhesive backed EPDM sheets which improved the caliper retention significantly and "thankfully" there was enough gap in the case to do that. Performance wise, it works. It does not always return to zero consistently (off by 0.01) but it is within an expected accuracy for the size. For the price, there are several calipers in this range on Amazon. It may be worth spending a little more to get something of a little higher quality.
