  • Not for eGPU use. Totally worth the money for a PC build or GPU upgrade.
I really love Sapphire cards. They look great and where other manufacturers make these a two slot and really long card, Sapphire wisely made this a two and a half slot card allowing for the installation into smaller cases. It runs pretty cool, even when maxed out gaming. It's not as fast as an RTX 4090, but it's about $1500 less. Besides, 400 FPS vs 200, you're not going to notice! But I needed a good card for an eGPU. This ain't it. But it's not a Sapphire problem, but an AMD problem. I've tried an RX5700, RX6600,two different RX7800 XTs (one was this one) and a Sapphire RTX 7900 XTX. Any computer it tried the eGPU on benchmarked phenomonally, but regardless of the game, you're getting 20 to 45 FPS. Destiny 2 was my main test game due to the high variability in maps and locations. It didn't matter. The frame rates were all over the place between 20 and 45 fps, even a the lowest settings. Resolution didn't matter. I tried two other eGPU enclosures and got the same results. Putting any of the listed cards in a PC and they're great, especially compared to team greens pricing! I highly recommend this Graphics card for PC use. I do not recommend any AMD based card for eGPU use. If you need an eGPU, go with an RTX 4070 Super. In PC performance was similar, but eGPU use, the RTX was about a 10% performance loss, so the same testing netted nothing less than at least 110 fps. ... show more

  • No problems with mine.
Not rating this card against other manufacturers. I installed this in a Corsair 4000 airflow case with an AMD 7 7800 X3D. My case is well ventilated and I haven't had any issues with excessive noise or heat. When I purchased this card the price was very competitive.

  • Great performance only wish it was better priced
The card works well, there were some driver issues to work out due to high power draw at idle. The software is fully featured and may take a bit of a learning curve to figure out. I upgraded from a Radeon VII so was familiar however the new feature set takes a few videos to figure out what works with what. The card is big compared to reference and you really may need to measure your case clearance prior to any XTX purchase. Overall the card is cool and quiet compared to my VII. HOWEVER, if you are a 1080p gamer it is overkill and for the price im sure there are other options. If it were 600-700 dollars it would cut into nvidia sales pretty hard. If you are a ray tracing gamer then you are kinda stuck with Nvidia. I think overall most gamers reside in the 200-400 dollar upgrade path and it seems to be a balanced sweetspot. Now im just waiting for the new AMD releases for whats to come and justify such a lofty purchase. ... show more

  • Just long enough to just barely squeeze into my case.
Upgrading from a RTX 2080TI, this card is about 2 inches longer. If I didn't care about the power draw, I would let the card push frame rates as high as it can but I limited the frame rates to 60 Hz. This allows the card to run cooler and more efficiently than my RTX 2080TI at around 150-170 watts at 57-62% GPU utilization and 63 degrees Celsius, versus my 2080TI doing the same at its 100% GPU utilization, 270 watts and a bit over 70 degrees Celsius. Its my first time being back with AMD since they used to be ATI. The ATI Radeon 9700 and 9800 Pro cards were the last cards I've owned from the brand, and I've been Nvidia ever since. I may still be Nvidia if the gave the RTX 4070TI or RTX 4080 a good price, but I don't feel like I'm getting enough value for the dollar with them at this time. I've decided upon only upgrading when I can at least double my current performance and this product a more or less does this when compared to my 2080TI, if I can't at least double the performance or more at the price things are these days then it is not worth the upgrade. I bought the 7900xtx at a price well under the launch MSRP of the 2080TI at twice the performance so I'm happy. As bulky as the card is, it seems to always stay at 62 to 68 degrees Celsius While remaining substantially quieter than my 2080TI. It the card is not being challenged by a game that can be maxed out at 60Hz and 50% GPU utilization, the fan spins under 700rpms as it seems to give whatever is needed to keep the card at 62 degrees. Cyber Punk is the only game I can't max out and get to 60fps right now. It that game I'm 100% GPU utilization 370 - 377 watts. As long as the card could at least better ray tracing than the 2080TI, I am happy. My case is well ventilated so keeping the card under 70 degrees is manageable without getting noisy over the other fans in the case, whatever sound it makes gets drowned out by my other case fans. The 2080TI got well over 70 degrees and was audibly noisier over my other case fans sitting 10 feet away from my PC. I'm can't speak on overclocking because for the amount of power the card will consume to spit out a miniscule number of added frames is not worth it for me. I quite trying to overclock my cards since burning up 2080TI for an extra 8 frames and Nvidia replaced it within warranty. Spending so much for components to place such stress on them for small gains is no longer worth it for me. There are a select few games I will allow to occasionally get to 140fps max settings, like Diablo 4 just out of curiosity. I would admit that it looks great, but I don't want to spoil myself. I know a lot of new Unreal Engine games will likely reasonably play around 60fps with most everything maxed, not counting ray tracing. The drivers seem feature rich and relatively stable. A lot of display issues I've had with my 2080TI on my Hisense television is not present with this card. This card works a lot better on my television than my previous card did. Overall, the card has been solid without crashing on my system thus far, I got it for the release of Diablo 4 when I noticed bad stuttering on the RTX 2080TI during the pre-release that is just not present on this card. I'm learning that more games are starting to be limited by display memory which influenced my decision to get the 7900xts over the 4070TI. I have to be able to wait out until the next performance doubling arriving with future GPUs. They might start to charge you $1500 by then, but hopefully this won't be the case. ... show more

  • Great Value GPU
I upgraded from an MSI 2080 ti Ventus and the performance increase was spectacular. I had to fit this card into a NZXT H510 with a front mounted radiator, and I only had about 12.5 inches of clearance and was happy to see this fitted perfectly. Besides the great performance, this card is very quite cool and really quiet. I used it to create some renderings for a few hours and it didn't go past 62 C at full load. Compared with my older 2080 ti, it is extremely quiet, just a low hum at full load. The only thing to note is that even though it mostly stays at 360W, it does have power spikes at close to 400 W and my PSU of 800W was not handling it. I had to buy another PSU at 1000W. The strength of this card is the massive amount of VRAM. That makes it great not only for 3440x1440 gaming, but also for 3D work as well. I got this on sale at $889, and at that price there was nothing better. Even with the new 4000 Super series, hard to beat this value. ... show more
