  • Elevate Your Audio, Literally: The "Ear-Level" Advantage of the Sanus HTBS Adjustable Stands!
Got all the pieces. Easy set up Sound is decent. Dont think you getting movie theater sound. The weight is light. Just follow the instructions In the world of home theater, "Placement is King." If you are running a 5.1 or 7.1 surround system with satellite speakers, the SANUS HTBS Adjustable Stands are the most cost-effective way to transition from "sound in a room" to a "cinematic experience." After integrating these into a mid-range satellite setup, here is my expert breakdown of why Sanus remains the industry standard for mounting solutions. The Engineering: Stability Meets Versatility Sanus is known for over-engineering their products, and while these are designed for "Small" speakers (up to 3.5 lbs), they don't feel like toys. The heavy-gauge steel pillars and wide, weighted bases provide a low center of gravity. This is crucial if you have pets or children; these stands are designed to resist tipping better than almost any generic brand I’ve tested in this price bracket. Acoustics: The 10-Inch Sweet Spot The standout feature is the 10" height adjustment. For the best immersion, your "tweeters" (the top part of your speaker) should be at ear level when you are seated. These stands allow you to dial in that exact height, ensuring that high-frequency sounds—like dialogue and crisp sound effects—reach your ears directly rather than bouncing off the floor or furniture. PROS Universal Compatibility: Between the L-shaped brackets and the keyhole adapters, these will fit 99% of small satellite speakers (including popular models from Bose, Polk, Sony, and Klipsch). Integrated Cable Management: One of my biggest pet peeves is "cable spaghetti." These stands feature a hollow pillar that allows you to route your speaker wire internally, creating a clean, professional look that keeps the "spouse-approval factor" high. Weighted Base Design: The bases are heavy enough to stay put on thick carpet but include rubber feet for hardwood floors to prevent scratching and acoustic rattling. Dead-Simple Assembly: Even for a novice, the DIY assembly takes less than 15 minutes. The instructions are clear, and all necessary hardware is included. Sleek Aesthetic: The matte black finish is non-reflective, ensuring these won't catch the glare from your TV or projector screen during a movie. CONS Strict Weight Limit: 3.5 lbs means 3.5 lbs. Do not try to mount medium-sized bookshelf speakers or heavy Sonos units on these. They are strictly for "satellite" speakers. Wire Gauge Limitations: If you are using heavy-duty 12-gauge speaker wire, you might find it a tight squeeze through the internal channel. 14 or 16-gauge wire works perfectly. Top-Heaviness: While the base is weighted, if you extend them to their full maximum height, they naturally become a bit more prone to swaying if bumped. Overall Input The Sanus HTBS Speaker Stands are a masterclass in "entry-level audiophile" gear. They solve the three biggest issues of home theater setup: height, stability, and wire management. For the price of a couple of movie tickets, you are getting a permanent upgrade to your home theater’s soundstage and aesthetics. Pro-Tip: When setting these up, don't just "guess" the height. Sit in your favorite viewing spot, have someone measure the distance from the floor to your ear, and set the stand height so the speaker's tweeter aligns with that measurement. The difference in clarity will be immediate and significant! Who is this for? Anyone with a "Home Theater in a Box" system, owners of small satellite speakers (Bose, etc.), and apartment dwellers who want a professional look without drilling holes in the walls. ... show more

  • They do the job.
These stands are pretty good. Their design is slick and well thought out. They are good quality and the installation is fairly straight forward. The only issue I find is the stability on a carpeted floor. Not the best. In my case I don't have a lot of traffic and they should stay in place without a problem, but they can be easily toppled by your dog for example. Other than that, I find them very good at this price. ... show more

  • Great addition to my Sony 5.1 audio system
Purchased these speaker stands to pair with an older Sony DVD Home entertainment 5.1 audio receiver. The stands are great and offer adjustable height. I'd recommend this product to anyone looking to enhance their surround sound experience "raising" speakers to maximize audio. My speakers are not very heavy so these are great. I have other speakers from BOSE that are heavier and have some sort of propitiatory mounting brackets that don't work well with these (i tried). With the weight of the BOSE suround speakers I'd opt for stands that are sturdier. These, however are perfect for my SONY system and I'm more than happy with them. They are not an eye sore nor do they look awkward with my setup and the contoured base isn't very large which made placing them in tight spaces (small area between end tables and a couch) simple and easy. They also offer cable management features that "hide" the speaker cable down the shaft and out the bottom of the base. I simply pushed the wires near the baseboards and organized my "man cave" in a way where the cables are not very noticeable. I've thought a lot about these wired suround setups since my purchase and have had ideas that I'm sure some professional installers may have available like some custom baseboards that may provide a way to "hide" speaker cables within them and still be able to remove / upgrade easily by an audiophile whom wishes to keep options open for future upgrades. Taking in consideration there are a lot of different sizes of speaker cables, it may take some inginuity to create something like this but would not be impossible and would certainly be an appealing addition to any man cave or woman cave for that matter. I know there are wireless speakers available but I have not really looked into them as those may still need a separate power cable attached to them or some type of rechargable battery. With what little I know, I'm happy with my system and it's performance. I'm especially pleased to mention that while I watch Star Trek episodes, I can hear the warp engines low pitched "hum" through my audio system and I'm more than pleased with them. Not only that, the movie Twister sounds great on a 5.1 surround sound system. With the 9.2 system out and available, I'm sure it would sound a lot better but I'm happy with what I have for now. I'm not really wanting to pay an arm and a leg for an elegant system at this point in my life anyway as I don't make a ton of money. These stands are perfect for anyone who has decent surround system where the mini surround speakers are not very heavy. Perfect for me. ... show more

  • Look elsewhere for quality
Build quality could use some work. The way the stand is put it together is severely lacking in security. The base is solid but the rods holding the speaker are pressure fit, which during assembly led to some headaches. Additionally, the hardware used to secure the speakers to the mounts are slightly oversized. I had to hammer them into my speakers for optimal fitment. ... show more
