I recently purchased the Galaxy Tab S6 to replace my aging Galaxy Tab S (yes, I still have a working Original Tab S). Although my original Tab S is still operational it is missing some key features that just don't quite make it a go to slate for me anymore. The S6 has a modern in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock (even though the latter isn’t as secure) which provide much faster and easier access to my secure apps. Both tablets have a beautiful AMOLED screen but the S6 screen is larger and brighter. Let's talk about this beautiful piece of hardware. It is a sleek all metal beautifully made tablet redesigned from the ground up and released August 2019. Samsung never compromises on their S series tablets, these flagships contain the latest tech and highest specs available on any Android tablet. Right now this is the most powerful Android tablet on the market, also the most expensive. I’ve been using the S6 for almost a week and am really enjoying the experience. It has a 7040mAh battery, the provided charger is a 15W charger, but I did my first charge after 4 days of use using my USB-C 60W Techmaster Charger. The battery went from 0-100% in a little over an hour that equates to a 25W Charging speed. I went from 0-60% in less than 30 minutes, not bad. Face unlock is fast, sometimes ambient lighting can cause it to fail but it works regardless of the tablet’s orientation. In-display Finger unlock is solid, works every time. I’ve seen a lot of folks complaining about Samsung’s in-display unlock… I don’t know what they are talking about. Compared to the rear mounted biometric sensor on the Galaxy Note 8 it is just as fast and just as accurate. To me it seems to work better as the sensor area is slightly larger. I’ve tried it in different orientations and it just works every time. Perhaps those with problems have a screen protector which is impacting the scanner performance. This slate is fast, very fast the Qualcomm 855 processor powers through any task. Every app just pops on the screen with no delay, I am a multi-tasker so run multiple apps at once in pop-up view and I have seen no lag or response issues. I also have the Type Cover so this makes multi-tasking even better as it is easy to switch between tablet and laptop mode with the flip of the cover. The cover also gives additional protection to your S Pen, the magnet hold is not as strong as I’d like. The mag mount can deliver 10 hours of S Pen charge in just a few minutes. The new S Pen has some new Air Moves and provides even higher 4,096 pressure levels for even greater precision. It can also be used to control the camera shutter or as a presentation clicker. Below I’ve compared the specs from the recently released Galaxy Tab S6 Lite to the Galaxy Tab S6. This mid-range slate will get you in the door at a much lower price point but with some major compromises. I got the S6 tablet a while ago but I came across the order history and wanted to write a review. For a while after I got it I was scared to use the tablet because my mom got it for me thinking I was some kind of digital art genius (not really) and it took me some time to get used to. Despite that, I believe it ended up being the perfect thing for me. •First of all, the SPen is amazing. At some point I looked at the IPad pro just for comparison and their apple pencil sounded so scratchy. I dont get any of that with the SPen. Its able to withstand my constant jabs without a problem and has good pressure sensitivity. The button can get in the way but Im dont trigger it often. •The samsung SPen options are kind of useless, I never use them and dont see anyone else really using them. •The SPen is also a bit awkward because its sorta slapped on the side without a very strong magnet and could be lost easily at an airport (speaking from experience) and is $50-$60 to replace. Some cases are able to hold it in but that gets inconvenient. Either way I dont really mind that its like that but its definetly something you always have to make sure is safe. •Anyways, I love watching my favorite shows on this tablet because the screen is very nice and I have no problems with certain shows that would always buffer on other regular devices. •The camera is suprisingly good for a tablet, and most of my best pics come from it but its wasted on this kind of thing. No one buys a tablet so they can use the camera. Couldve been spared some on the price. •These days, I also use it a lot for online school because its really easy to write in stuff on an assignment like I would if I was in the classroom. •I can read texts like a book. When I was younger, I thought the kindle would be such a cool thing to have but this is like an all in one. And remember, dont you see things on computers that almost never extend to each side? This is the kind of thing that doesnt take up extra space. °•°•° All in all, I do not regret having this tablet, and I believe it is an amazing choice, especially if you or someone else is interested in digital art/editing/school/etc. Its definetly worth it.

Amazing piece of technology. The display is really good. The software is actually optimized for tablet use thanks to One UI, unlike older Samsung tablets. Samsung does not hold anything back software wise in this product and I'm expecting the same in the upcoming Android 10 update which is expected to come in April 2020 (supposedly). My gripes with this device are all hardware based. No headphone jack, which is a deal breaker to some, including me. Until recently I just gave in, because this is the best Android tablet in the market and I needed that after owning the Galaxy Note 10.1 for forever (Yes, that very old one). The display is 60 Hz and not 90 or more like the iPad Pro which the Galaxy Tab S6 is clearly competing with. That is because when this product launched, no AMOLED panel was capable of more than 60 Hz (reliably at least), so I don't think Samsung was there yet. But when it comes to display panels, Samsung keeps the best for itself. The display is really that good and that's why you won't feel like you're missing out. The S Pen is reliably good, meaning, the performance is consistent, so you feel confident when you decide to use it. But the S Pen is light in weight, which gives it this slightly cheap feeling. I think the light weight of the S Pen is intentional. Samsung wanted the S Pen to be comfortable to use and feel like a normal pen/pencil, which it does. But I guess there is a very small line between feeling light yet high quality and feeling light and cheap. And Samsung missed that line. To wrap up (TL;DR): + Amazing display. + Great build quality. + Best sounding speakers in a tablet. + Polished and optimized OS and UI. - Slightly cheap feeling S Pen. - No headphone jack. - Display no higher than 60 Hz.

I recently upgraded to the Galaxy Tab S3 from the S3 model. After 2-1/2 years of heavy use, the S3 battery was starting to show it's age. The S3 still works fine, it just doesn't hold a charge as long as when it was new. The S6 really kicks butt - I recommend it highly. It's blazingly fast, the screen is bright and crystal clear, and the stereo speakers sound wonderful. I'm currently using it with a Dell Bluetooth mouse and a Logitech MX Keys Bluetooth keyboard in DeX mode, connected to an old NEC MultiSync LCD 1850X display. I haven't played with any of the applikcations that use the stylus, but if they work as well on the S6 as they did on the S3 as I'm sure they will, they'll be just fine. I've gotta say, for my purposes, it functions every bit as well as any laptop I've ever had. That said, if I was still working as an IT project manager (I'm retired and lovin' it) there would be several software tools, like MS Project Server among others, that I would miss. On the downside, I was using the free version of MS Office on the S3. Howver, with the S6's larger screen, I can no longer use the free version. (I may need to bite the bullet and spring for the paid version.) I tried the Android version of Open Office but it has a few issues. The interface is exactly the same as the Windows version and seems clunky on the Android tablet. It's a bit more tolerable using it on a full size display in DeX mode. I was also hoping the problem I have printing documents from my S3 would have been resolved. Unfortunately, printing from the S6 to my network connected HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP printer is still hit or miss. Documents seem to get hung up in the print spooler. Sometimes, restarting the print job resolves the problem, but sometimes you need to restart multiple times befor the genie appears in the printer's output tray. (Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and spring for a new printer). All-in-all, the S6 is a keeper. If you're accustomed to using an Adroid phone, transitioning to an Android tablet makes perfect sense.

First I have had five previous Samsung tablets. The most recent being a Galaxy tab S. I have been pleased with these devices. They have all been large screen versions of a phone. The 8 and 10 inch versions of a phone screen is very interesting to say the least. I have the Samsung Keyboard for the Galaxy tab S and a Samsung mouse. These tools make the Galaxy tab S more useful but there are still lots of limits. This is different. DeX makes this something new. The windows are nice etc. But the speed along with the keyboard makes this much more than a big screen phone. I can actually get some work done. I have been a keyboard user for 50+ years. The thought of using my thumbs to type just does not work. The keyboard works well. The Samsung Mouse integrates quite well with the operating system. Copy/Paste with the mouse is very intuitive. Not being into Games etc. I cannot evaluate that portion of the system. I am just saying that for me in my world, It does what I need. Videos and Photos are very good. Photos are easy to edit as needed. The small bezel makes for a nice display. The screen is sharp, bright, and clean. All of that being said. The hardware and software work very well and are well integrated. A few issues exist with both hardware and software. The hardware - I am not impressed with the flimsey connection between the keyboard and the Tablet. I don't know how long this is going to last. I also wonder how soon I will loose the pen. Its storage is mediocre at best. As for the software - With every update etc., there seems to be a need to move things and relabel functions. How much is Google/Android and how much is Samsung is unclear. Samsung and its attempt to force feed us Bixby is a growing issue. Perhaps there will be a time when another generation will welcome this like the thumb typing, maybe so. Not now. My first attempt to power down necessitated a couple calls to Samsung support. Bixby by default is a long press on the power button. In my mind - don't do dat to me. I been powering down Samsung phones and tablets for years by a long press on the power button. Overall I am very pleased with the Galaxy Tab s6. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a box for use on the road which will connect to a full size keyboard and mouse to work when you come home. I have had the tablet for a couple weeks. It has 8g working memory, 256g storage and a 512g card. I have a dongle which allows it to connect to an HDMI monitor. The idea of typing notes in the car during the day on the road and coming home and seeing them on a full screen is quite nice. I have done this for some time by typing notes on the older tablet and saving to the cloud and seeing the work on a desktop machine. But the ability to see them as I originally typed them is the plus. Good Job Samsung. 4-15-2020 Update. I have now used this tablet for a few months and think I need to add a few observations. First I am not comparing this to anything except a Win10 Ltop and other Samsung Tablets. I notice lots of people comparing to an Ipad. I know nothing about any Apple products. The hardware is excellent. DeX is certainly a step in the right direction. A major limitation with this product is the Android Operating System. Android is built on Unix/Linux. There is lots of flexibility in the OS but there is a lot of problems with app development. Basic functionality is inconsistant across different apps. Copy/Paste works with the mouse in some apps. You have to use Ctrl C and Ctrl V in others. I have an app which sends news items as alerts. If the S6 is closed/off, when opened the alert is there. If I click on it - bad idea. The machine is locked cause it needs a security code but no message. I have to close the alert which allow the security code screen. No consistncy. I am typing this in SoftMaker in order to have spell checking. Just another inconsistancy. There are lots of other places where apps work different depending on where you are. I still like the S6 for its ability to have multiple windows open, the speed is wonderful. If Google, Android, and the App Store would cooperate, the whole product would be beyond great.

I bought the tablet because I am a tattoo artist and I wanted it for making stencils and to draw on. But Samsung does NOT specialize in arts or drawing applications. FACTS: Apple is better for it! And their pencil is the best on the market. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS TABLET FOR DRAWING is you get 3rd party apps which just dont work that great! Sketchbook is the best one, and it doesn't give you that SHARP and clear drawing the Ipad will on procreate. APPLE costs more but if you're an artist save yourself the trouble get the one designed for the drawing. Otherwise this tablet is just a large phone and I use my Galaxy note 8 a lot more. It WORKS to make stencils for tattooing but to draw and make beautiful digital artwork? Not going to happen. Save yourself the headache. The reason I dislike the drawing apps on Samsung SO MUCH is because they are a STAMP brush meaning the pattern never changes. Apple has responsive brushes that give you a changing, adaptive strokes. Final review: This is an amazing tablet that is powerful but it is NOTTTT A computer! It is a large phone and will not run Photoshop or other apps like it :( Only smaller less inclusive version of the apps. This tablet is great for any web surfing, multitasking, game playing and movie watching. It is amazing! The screen is beautiful and even comes with the S pen which I use a lot. The S pen gimics are over rated and 9/10 times I'm using the button on the pen only to take screenshots. This artist is switching to the ipad ONLY for the drawing. Samsung phone all the way.

I guess the old saying "You get what you pay for" will forever ring true. I have used Samsung products for over 10 years now and they have proven to make great products. ( I am in no way paid or given anything by anyone to leave this review.) The S6 is definitely a nice tablet and with its 8gigs of RAM and 256 internal storage it makes it a Damn nice tablet.. The S6 has a beautiful screen the colors are vibrant and true. The 2560x1600 makes your videos and pictures very vivid.. The tablet is snappy and quick with almost zero delay with your normal day to day task. I got the 10.5 inch screen which is awesome for any of your media needs. The ability to expand up to 1tb external memory makes this tablet a hard act to follow. It puts to shame other brands of tablet , especially one's that make outrageous claims that usually don't pan out. I will end this review with i noticed a few of the reviewers were IPad users, So of course they are not going to give an Android device any kind of love. One thing I have noticed with Android users and Apple users is that they either like one or the other with almost zero middle ground. Once you've become accustomed to one OS the other will seem aggravating or even dumb. But the truth is they are both awesome in their own right considering just 20 years ago what I am doing right now was only privileged to the rich and powerful or the government. Anyways the S6 is a great tablet and have no complaints..... yet...

This is my second Samsung Tablet. First was a 32GB Tab S. Went five years before it started acting up. Decided to go with another Samsung product. This time I purchased a 256GB Tab S6. Unfortunately it is WIFI only. I chose to go with more memory instead of opting for the 128GB LTE tablet. This turned out to be a wise move. More on that later in the review. The tablet is light and a pleasure to use. Upon setting it up for the first time I had a few surprises. I was not only able to back back up the old Tab S but also my Note 9. The second surprise, I was able to link my phone to the S6. With this ability I realized I don't need the LTE version. After all, my phone is always within Bluetooth range of the tablet. With the Tablet and Phone linked, I get my text messages phone calls on the S6. Have yet to figured out how to make calls, but still working on it. When I did the backup, my home screen and other screens look just like my Note 9. This is very convenient. The old Tab S had the Home, Back and all open screens buttons on the left side of the Tablet when in Landscape mode. The S6 has the buttons on the bottom of the screen like the Note 9. Basically of you have a newer Samsung Phone, you don't have to do a mind switch when transitioning from the S6 to the Phone as was the case with the Tab S. So far very happy with the purchase. Will update the review as time goes on.
