I ordered this phone last week on Amazon from US Wireless and it arrived quicker than I was expecting. I began to use the phone and ran into the same issue others have mentioned with activation with Verizon when I took it to get a SIM card at one of their corp. stores. The store could not activate, saying the phone was NOT recognized as a Verizon phone in their system. As a tech person, I did some more digging and discovered TWO DIFFERENT model numbers on my new device: OS and Box: SM-G950U Back side of Phone case/Shell (Tiny print) and IMEI check (google search "IMEI check"): SM-G950W I wasn't sure if this was why my phone wasn't able to activate, however I was able to get it activated and working by doing the following (In order): 1. Turn on phone out of Box (Check for a Verizon logo if Verizon carrier is desired) no logo for Verizon was observed on start-up. 2. Connect to WiFi 3. Went to Settings -> System Updates (*Note: Phone returned "Unable to authenticate" when trying to update. Waited a few moments, tried again. Update started successfully) 4. (Phone was several OS versions/updates behind) After running about 2 or 3 updates, I suddenly received the "Verizon" logo when my phone started. 5. Continued to run updates until phone reached Android "Oreo" OS version. Verizon logo was now constant on boot-up and restarts. 6. Contacted my nearest "BEMobile" Verizon store, asked if they had any SIM cards for Samsung Galaxy S8 (My phone didn't come with any) They did, I stopped in. 7. AGAIN, Verizon store rep(s) had a hard time using their normal method for phone activation. (They also were able to confirm the phone had Mismatched (2) model numbers) My rep stuck with it. 8. Rep called in to Verizon Customer Service/Customer account/device activation line (In store) and was successfully able to activate the phone and make a test call with a new SIM card that had been tested with another phone and confirmed working. Calls to the store and home were successful. I very much understand the frustration of all these other users with this issue. What was shocking to me was how the Phone OS and Box info differed from the tiny print info on the back of the phone case itself. I don't know who fell asleep at quality control on this one, but I can say this phone appeared to come in NEW. Sealed wrap and all. I have notified the store I purchased from as well. And the phone does appear to run very well. I'm not used to such long battery life, this is great! In closing: As a side note: My phone now shows up in My Verizon online profile, however device and Model Number (as expected) are not listed. This isn't a big deal to me as I've already documented this information. **Please remember this is the method I used to get my turducken-model phone up and running. It's important to note I also use a *prepaid plan. (Not a traditional service plan) It may NOT work for everyone! My STRONG ADVICE to anyone purchasing from an Amazon store would be to, immediately upon receipt of your new device, TEST IT. If it's a gift, TEST IT ANYWAY! Trust me, that 30 day return policy may be all that saves you. I almost had to go that route as well. It is different from purchase in store. I hope this helps someone. Otherwise this phone is amazing and am looking forward to using the camera features in film projects. Great screen and battery life. Don't like the design of the phone, it's too tall and slippery, but it has a good camera and nice screen. I really hate the default homescreen layout though. The Bixby thing and other bloatware is also annoying but it's a decent phone. Battery life is not the best. Tbh I miss my droid maxx. To be clear, it definitely works for Verizon. Found this through Amazon, selling on behalf of Cellular Professor. It was listed as new and unlocked for Verizon. The price was right so I bought it. I read the reviews, some saying the phone is refurbished and not compatible with Verizon. I also noticed that those reviews were for other sellers which is misleading. I emailed Cellular Professor (which was quick to respond) and they assured me that it is a new phone and Verizon ready. I received the new phone in the black Samsung box w/Verizon SIM. love the bells n whistles. Still working on getting to know this new phone and add apps from my old phone and modify some apps that came with the phone. I am happy with it. Easy to charge on a wireless gizmo. Charges fast and battery lasts long time......with all my looking for stuff on the phone. Best of all is the camera! huge improvement over my old phone. plenty of space and expandable SD card up to 256GB I believe can be added. I tried to move some apps from the phone to the card. But some of those do not like to be on the card. only less then a week and am happy with the S8. The screen is curved so finding a cover has a bit of a challenge for something that works and is not too pricey. Oh this phone is supposed to be water resistant to 5 ft for a short time. So a cover for dropping would be good enough (I guess) Otherwise still learning! ... show more

This was suppose to be a brand new phone and before I even turned it on I charged the battery to 100% charge and disconnected the charger from the phone and I did not turn the phone on until the next morning and it was down to 3% battery so I charged it again and the next morning it was down to 28% charge. I returned the defective phone and got a refund however the seller charged me a $36.00 restocking charge, I could understand that if I returned the phone because I didn't like it or want it but I do not understand why I had to pay a restocking charge for a defective phone. I will never order anything from this seller again. I am very disappointed with the handling of this return. ... show more

The lit screen looked new for a long time. Now a strange pink "stain" covers the lower 2/3rds of it! I thought the screen saver became discolored over time, but it hadn't. The phone still works, though!

Though I was worried about the battery capacity, it ended up working well for me at my moderate usage rate. The screen is a joy. The camera is an improvement over my old phone .
