  • My Phone is wonderful, hope yours is too.
While I've only had the phone for a couple of days, I can say that it's perfect. No scratches and looks brand new. Battery life so far is better than the one-year-old phone it's replacing. I received the SM-G988U, which is the US version. It is unlocked; when first starting up, the phone had AT&T branding. But after inserting my T-Mobile sim card the phone asked to reboot and it now has T-Mobile branding and apps. A few things to note: While broken and defective phones can and do happen, double-check the settings in the phone before assuming the phone is not as advertised. Samsung's default settings are optimized for better battery life, not the absolute best that the phone can do. For example, the default screen resolution is not set to the highest that the phone can show. This can be easily changed under Settings - Display - Screen resolution. The camera is a bit blurry when looking close up, just like every phone I've ever had. But if you change the zoom to 2X then pull the phone back a bit, the image is really sharp. This is really noticeable when looking at text. My phone did not come with a charger, which is fine as I have too many of them. A charging cable was included, but my phone would not charge with it. Also not a big deal. ... show more

  • Gets the job done. Miss the S9+
My S9+ after about 7 years finally decided it was time to die and betrayed me further by giving me literally no warning. This purchase was more emergency than anything. Initial reaction- CONS 1: The camera isn't flush with the back of the phone. unnecessarily Bulky. 2: I HATE the on screen fingerprint reader. Hate it. I could unlock my old phone instantly with my eyes closed by feel alone. With the S20 Ultra, You have to make sure your finger is in exactly the right area of the phone, in just the right position and keep it there for exactly the right length of time and it will work the first try maybe 3/4 of the time. 3- Flashlight sucks. Considerably. Might as well just use a candle. 4- the touch response is too good. If you think about swiping the wrong thing, you get a new window or changed settings. Relax. 5-the screen and back of the phone, I'm convinced were specifically designed to attract dust, debris, fingerprints, smears etc. It's disgusting. If I were a stranger and saw my phone I'd immediately think I was a slob. A case is a necessity, not only because the phone I'm pretty sure is plastic. I thought the S20's were aluminum, maybe I just don't know how cheap aluminum is? I'm not confident at all in the durability of this phone or the screen, I'm glad I bought the protection plan. (The covering over the precious camera however, is in fact resistant to debris and fingerprints). 6-why is this screen so big, but my status bar with the time and battery life so unreasonably tiny? I'm looking down my nose holding my phone out like I'm 90 years old trying to read the paper, it's absurd? Can you change that? 7-simplified and boring drop down menu/notification screen. Feels dumbed down for boring people. Less personal PROS 1- Arrived in pristine condition. You'd never know it was refurbished. I can't find a flaw or scratch anywhere. And after seeing reviews and pictures, I looked for them. 2-you can't complain on the price. 3-battery life is phenomenal. I had no memory of how long a full charge should actually last until I took my S20 ultra out for it's first day on the town. 4-It has an SD card slot. I was able to switch over a lot of information from my old phone. I am not in fact 90, I'm only 39, but I still don't like all this saved information in clouds or saved to Google acts etc. Doesn't feel right, I want my information on an object I can hold in my hand. 5-has good storage without the SD card too. 5-it's not an iPhone. I think we can all agree that's a win. 6- it's 5G. Turns out 5G isn't as widespread as the TV lead me to believe. I've seen it connect to 5G once and I drive all around Western New York. But that's still fun 7- other than little changes to the UI, updates and external components... It's virtually the same thing as my S9+. Which I loved. So that's a big deal for me. I don't have to spend time relearning how to use it. With the difference in generations, I was expecting bigger changes. Overall opinion I liked my S9+ better. If they could have kept that design and just upgraded the insides over the years instead of needing new actual phones designs, I'd have been thrilled. If my S9+ was still functional, that would be ideal really (I'll miss you S9+ 💋) Having only dealt with the S9+ galaxy, that it the standard I'm judging from. The S20 Ultra feels genuinely fragile in my hands as opposed to the S9+. It feels like a lower quality phone and I do not anticipate the screen or case holding up over the years that I plan on keeping it. So I would recommend the protection plan offered. ... show more

  • Refirbed with the lowest quality replacement parts
I am on my third s20 ultra from this company. The first one had charging issues right out of the box with a loose charging connection. Sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't. The rear glass on the first was obviously replaced and was cracked on arrival. I made due with it until the charging issue rendered it unusable. The second s20 ultra also had replacement glass on the rear however the camera did not work on this phone. I made due again until the same charging issue showed up again. Rma through Amazon and they sent me a third. This (current phone) s20 ultra has had a replacement screen which is a noticeable drop in the original quality from my others. The front screen flexes quite a bit with every touch. Also the back glass was a replacement and broke almost immediately when I was fitting a case onto it. Crack started at the side buttons and spidered out from there. The charger port is also becoming loose and beginning to be finicky for charging. The major issue with this one is that the wifi and Bluetooth have just failed. Both won't turn on even after network reset and factory reset. I am going to try to rma this one as well for a refund instead of replacement and I'll have to bit the bullet and buy a newer phone. ... show more

  • BEAWARE OF CAMERA ISSUES, other than that phone is great
I wanted to give this phone a 5 star as it deserves it. But I right off the bat, the main camera had focusing issues. I've read that it can be one of two things, a recent update that made the camera near useless and the focusing mechanism. In my case, I believe it to be the second. Shaking it back in forth a couple of times in order for the camera to focus. That being the only issue, once focused that images come in detailed and sharp. But that's the thing, you must focus it first. Wide shots work perfectly, 5x and 100x work, although not the best quality, but those were within my expectations. The selfie camera works perfectly aswell. Other than the camera being the main issue, the phone itself is great. With fast response time, and a good display with no burn-ins. The screen came in with a small, but almost unnoticeable scratch, but that's something I can live with. For a refurbished phone in excellent condition, this phone will be of use to me for the next couple of years. Hopefully. ... show more

  • Excellent..... So Far
I ordered the S20 Ultra (renewed) in excellent to replace my aging S9. I was expecting delivery on Saturday and received it on Wednesday, earlier delivery is already a plus in my book. It did not come in an original Samsung package but I was not expecting it to so that is just fine. IN the box the phone was wrapped in bubble wrap and I received the Sim tray opening tool a charger and a charging chord. The phone was not fully charged but it had plenty of charge to get things set up and to still be good to go for quite a while if needed. The outside of the phone was perfect and the only thing really saying that this was not a brand new phone was that it did not have the manufacturer piece of plastic film on it to peel off. The phone appears to be running perfectly as well and runs a lot smoother and with more features of my old S9. All in all there was only one negative. When I plugged the phone into the supplied charging chord I did get a pop up warning message about the charger and checking all the connections would not solve the issue. The good news is that if I used one of my cables that I already have the phone happily charges with no issues. The charging block they sent works fine, it is just the actual USB C cable that is bad. Right now my new phone is sitting in the case I bought for it and is charging up. With the minor exception of that cable I am extremely happy with this purchase so far (it's been less than a day) and I am glad I made it, especially since the price is so much better than what I would pay for the new model or what I would have paid for this one if I bought it when it came out. ... show more

  • Great phone
This is a great phone. Still uses a SIM card and has a spot for a micro SD memory card. This phone works great and you supply your own memory

  • Good Phone
The phone is very good. I would have given it a higher rating, but it is slow to charge and needs to be charged often without use.

  • TLDR; originally nervous about ordering unlocked phone; working great 1 week in TLDR; originally nervous about ordering unlocked phone; working great 1 week in
TLDR; originally nervous about ordering unlocked phone; working great 1 week in; fingerprint reader is meh Fully unlocked Galaxy S20 Ultra (Renewed) ordered from thegadgetdeals on Amazon Marketplace to replace my Galaxy S9, which I have really enjoyed over the last 3 years but is now too slow and not enough storage for my liking. I went with the S20 rather than upgrading to an S21 primarily because of the expandable storage available with the S20 [I'm bummed Samsung is going away from this - it was one of the great things that set them apart from Apple... boooo!]. Anyway, Verizon has pretty much refused to restock their S21 Ultra 512 GB during the last 4-6 months, hence I ultimately pulled the trigger on this phone. Regarding the product according to the seller: arrived quickly and as promised. Few scratches on back cover that I care nothing about at all (expected as this is a refurb). Otherwise, seems in great condition. Came with a charger as promised. I was nervous about ordering unlocked phone as I have always purchased through my carrier, but I inserted my Verizon sim card, and it seems to be working great. Regarding the phone itself (S20 Ultra versus my old S9): FAST - by far what I'm happiest about. My old phone was really dragging in responsiveness. Front (selfie) camera noticeably WAY better. Rear camera - I'm sure is better, but I expected to notice a huge difference and other than the fact that I can zoom in a lot more, the quality when I zoom in isn't just over the moon better than my old phone (ie, on 8x zoom, photos from the 2 phones look similar). But I will say, the "live focus" that resembles the "portrait mode" of an iPhone makes me excited. Plus there's other nice features, like zooming out (wide view), etc. Overall happy with this. NEGATIVES..... my only complaint that I hope doesn't ruin my experience with this phone is the FINGERPRINT READER. The actual reader on the back of the S9 was seemingly perfect. I LOVED it - almost never had issues. Why, WHY?! did they go to a digital one. It seems to work fine without a case or screen protector. I've tried a few cases thus far that all claim to work well with the reader but NO. With case on, it works like 25% of the time (followed all the directions). And honestly, I'm not sure I blame the cases - seems like everyone is having issues with this. I'm ordering some screen protectors that have decent reviews and *fingers crossed*. Oh, also, this phone is big, like huge. I think (hope) I'll get used to it, but wow. Samsung, please review the size of female pockets before designing your next phone. ... show more
