This phone has most of the high end features of phones much more expensive plus it includes things like expandable memory via microSD and a headphone jack that most high end phones today are lacking. Really the only thing this phone does not feature that is pretty standard now is wireless charging, which I honestly never used on my last phone as it charges slower than wired charging. For the price this phone is really quick and the UW version even packs 6 gigs of RAM. The camera is perfectly acceptable and looked fine blown up on my big screen TV using screen grab. The screen is large and has a vivid display. The overall performance is pretty snappy considering the low price point. Really everything about this phone is pretty good to excellent, you wouldn't believe the quality based on the price, but it truly is a good phone. ... show more

    • Dead pixels. Not worth the effort to return.

Within one week of activation of this A71 the pixels around the front facing camera began to become dead in a circular pattern. The dead area began to increase daily until I chose to contact Amazon. Amazon CSR said that I would need to work with the vendor (thegadgetdeals) for a return/replacement. After numerous emails with pictures of the screen failing thegadgetdeals told me that YES it was failing but I would need to contact Amazon for a return. Amazon told me that I was now past my 30 day return window. I refreshed his memory that these renewed phones have a 1 year warranty and he agreed to accept a return but only gave a 7 days return window to purchase a new phone, backup all data and verify that all is safe (again). The time spent on emails, phone calls, chats, backups, and data transfers has made it not worth my time. I will not be purchasing another renewed phone from Amazon. ... show more

I moved to another country for a year and couldn't use my old phone so I was looking for a cheap, good quality one. This one did the job. I've had it for 5 months and the battery life it's still pretty good. It definetly got a little worse than in the beggining, the first months my battery lasted for like 3 days straight (and i use it a lot). The camera is the only actual reason I put 4 stars. It's not great when there's little light and the front camera doesn't have great quality. Still it has good quality and with good lightning it does some pretty good pictures. It has a pretty good price and it works with most phone companies ... show more

    • Screen way too dim when activating
My Samsung Galaxy A71 5G LTE arrived and looked brand new. It was however by far the WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD SETTING IT UP. The problem was the screen was very, very dim and I was not able to get into "Settings" to fix it. I discovered the "brightness" setting was at the lowest possible level, making it SUPER DIFFICULT to see when going through all of the steps required to get to a point where I could access "Settings." I have not yet finished connecting it to my Verizon account because of some other matters being more important right now. I hope doing the final steps will be as easy as it was when I activated other phones. More reactions from me after that happens. The 3 star rating is for this problem. I don't know if that was something that existed because the phone was refurbished because I've never had that happen when activating any other phone. ... show more

    • First new phone in years, really like it
My older Samsung Galaxy S7 unexpectedly died, so I was in the market for a new phone. The current prices for phones is WAAAAAY more than seems reasonable to me - I need something for calling, texting, taking a few photos of the kids, and occasional web browsing. Not willing to pay $1000 for that! This phone was around $170 with tax when I purchased as a refurbished unit. After a month of ownership, I am really thrilled with the result. The 5G reception is ok and overall calling in our house is better than the old phone - here in the Hill Country of Texas, cell coverage is spotty at best. Battery life is outstanding and the facial recognition is a cool feature when it works. Doesn't like it when I have on sunglasses - which is all the time when outdoors, and even indoors in certain areas it will not unlock. Not a big deal, I'm used to entering a pin. All other features are what you'd expect, or I haven't bothered to try them. Camera is better than the old one as would be expected after 5-6 years of improvements. Overall, I feel this in an excellent value and would absolutely purchase again and recommend to my friends. Even has me thinking that I'll try another upgrade in a few years just to keep this one as a working backup. ... show more
