  • Stellar Performance and Speed
Style: 990 PRO Capacity: 1TB
I recently upgraded my storage solution to the Samsung 990 PRO Series - 1TB PCIe Gen4. X4, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance. The PCIe Gen4 interface delivers lightning-fast data transfer speeds, making this SSD an excellent choice for those who demand high-performance storage. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or power user, the responsiveness of the Samsung 990 PRO Series is truly remarkable. The sequential read and write speeds are nothing short of impressive. Large files transfer seamlessly, and the overall system responsiveness is noticeably improved. The 1TB capacity provides ample space for storing games, applications, and multimedia files without compromising speed. One standout feature is the reliability of the Samsung 990 PRO Series. The drive utilizes advanced NAND technology and comes with a robust controller, ensuring durability and longevity. This makes it a reliable choice for both demanding workloads and everyday use. I also appreciate the heat dissipation design of this SSD. It manages temperature effectively, preventing any performance throttling during prolonged and intensive tasks. The build quality is top-notch, and the drive feels solid and well-constructed. The Samsung Magician software adds value to the overall package, offering users tools for monitoring, optimizing, and managing the SSD. Firmware updates are straightforward, and the user interface is intuitive. In conclusion, the Samsung 990 PRO Series - 1TB PCIe Gen4. X4 is a stellar performer. It combines impressive speed, reliability, and durability, making it an ideal choice for those who require high-performance storage. While it may come at a premium price, the performance gains are well worth the investment. I highly recommend this SSD for anyone looking to elevate their system's storage capabilities. ... show more

  • Great for speeding up and expanding storage capacity in a gaming laptop
Style: 990 PRO Capacity: 4TB
As almost everyone knows, the Samsung 990 Pro is hard to beat when it comes to SSD performance. I installed it into my Acer Predator Helios 16 gaming laptop about a month ago, and so far it is working great. It doesn't overheat, and gaming performance is excellent. I'm getting between 5000 and 6500 MB/s read and write speeds with it. I kept my OS on the laptop's included 1TB Micron SSD and installed this one into its second M.2 slot. I've been installing all of my games on the 990 Pro. Load times are extremely fast, and I haven't noticed any lag when moving from one large area in a game to another. Installation was easy for me, although I've worked in IT for years and started out working on laptops and computers, so I'm pretty experienced at that kind of thing. For those that may not be as comfortable there are tons of guides on YouTube that will help you out. ... show more

  • Doesn't lose functionality, like other people claim
Style: 990 PRO Capacity: 4TB
I bought the 4TB 990 Pro for my gaming build so I could store every game I own and still have room for more. It has not disappointed, providing speeds within 100 MBps of the advertised 7GBps. The specific SSD that I got was never updated from the original launch firmware and, contrary to what others have said, its speed did not drop and the percent usage did not jump up after a month of use. The only possible reason I can think of for having a different experience is that I used the VRM controller under IRST instead of the standard Windows AHCI controller. Still, since I knew that my drive had a higher chance of failure with the launch firmware, I decided to update it. Unfortunately, Samsung decided not to include support for Intel's VRM controller in the Samsung Magician program, so I had to go through the whole process of disabling IRST in BIOS, booting into Safe Mode, then restarting. Just for reference, I had Magician test the read/write speeds in AHCI mode, and the SSD ran in the range of 600 to 800 MBps slower across the board when in AHCI mode. I was finally able to update the SSD firmware, then I went through the process of re-enabling IRST so I could go back to the prior speeds. When testing the read/write speeds after the firmware update, Magician showed that the drive was running 1 GBps slower than before in IRST mode. Initially, I thought the firmware update had messed up my SSD. However, after remembering that I had CrystalDiskMark, I decided to set both DiskMark and Magician to the same parameters and test the drive again once using each. As it turns out, Samsung Magician was under-reporting the speeds, possibly by erroneously including random speeds in the calculations for average sequential speeds. If Samsung Magician shows that your SSD's performance has dropped significantly, I highly recommend double-checking using another program that can check disk read/write speeds, because chances are, your SSD is fine but Samsung Magician is bugged and displaying the wrong information. In short, this SSD works as advertised, Samsung has really had trouble with the programming side of things, and the SSD works better under the IRST VRM controller, even with the original firmware. ... show more

  • Fast and easy install w/easy setup
Style: 990 PRO w/ Heatsink Capacity: 2TB
I purchased this SSD for my PS5. The SAMSUNG 990 PRO w/ Heatsink SSD 2TB was very easy to install. Just make sure that you insert it at the proper angle. you should hear a click then the screw hole should line up perfect to be secured down. Once you power up the PS5 it will run the auto setup and when that is complete you will be ready to go. This whole process was WAY EASIER than I thought it would be. The 2TB of storage is plenty of space for all your games and I have noticed a dramatic difference in load times for all games installed on this SSD. I would Highly recommend this SSD for anyone using it for PS5. ... show more
