This "Glass Analyser Electronic BMI Digital Bathroom Scale" from Salter is a sleek black glass bathroom weighing scale, which also features electronic sensing of body fat and hydration level. It has the facility to enter and store height, sex and age details for up to eight different users so that it can also report a calculated Body Mass Index from the measurements it takes. To make use of the BMI measuring option, you have to use the scale barefoot and also press a fiddly array of buttons to select the pre-loaded person details and trigger the measurement. Alternatively, you can just stand on the scale to obtain a weight measurement. The scale can be set to operate in either metric (kg) or imperial (lbs, or st/lbs) units. I have encountered no problems with this device's reliability or repeatability so far. I have found it to take its measurements rapidly and consistently, provided you have it properly positioned, level on a good firm surface (additional feet are supplied for use on a carpet) and stand still, with your feet correctly positioned across the electrodes when performing a BMI measurement. How accurate or meaningful its fat, hydration and BMI determinations might be I am not able to comment, but it seems to be reasonably consistent across all of the family members.
