I've worn these hiking almost every day for two months now and couldn't be happier. They are really well cushioned and comfortable - I haven't needed to use inserts. I have extremely high arches so it's been hard finding a shoe that didn't cause foot (and knee) pain. I don't do very long hikes - usually about 2 miles - but the terrain is often hilly and rough, lots of roots and rocks, and I don't have any pain afterwards. I wear them around the house occasionally too. Personally I love the lacing. It took a few times to get used to but now it's second nature. I make sure to pull the laces as tight as I can before rolling them up and stuffing them into the "lace cave." Haven't had any issues with the laces loosening, though my hikes are relatively short. And frankly if they did get loose I would just retighten them - it's not difficult. I've walked through a ton of puddles and muck with no leaks. The pattern on the soles doesn't hold onto the mud so I'm not tracking it through the house. I'm usually an 8 in shoes and 8.5 in boots but I ordered 8s based on the reviews and glad I did. There's plenty of room for thick socks. My only issue is I would have preferred them in black - but the blue-gray was on sale.

I like these boots, I really do, but I have had them for 2 months and have worn them a decent amount of times. I wore them hiking in Colorado and Utah at the end of August, they weren’t too hot, weren’t too heavy. I have worn them out and about on trails in Ohio. They are comfortable, very minimal breaking in was needed for me, but now the fabric where the goretex fabric and the sole meet is starting to peel, especially where my foot bends. It’s a little disappointing when spending a good amount on a normally pretty sturdy solid brand. Also they stink… oh my. They smell like cat urine, I don’t have cats, I don’t have cats anywhere near my house and they are kept in my mud room. Not sure why there is such a stench to them. Obviously they are well loved and I still wear them weekly, but I might not purchase a pair like these again.

Bought for my wife’s Christmas gift. She absolutely loves these boots. I was told get a half size bigger than normal with these. Perfect fit! Plus the are outdoor and great in the cold so she uses thick socks.

I had been looking for replacements for my Merrell hiking shoes for 2 years. I tried countless shoes in stores and returned many to Amazon. None fit right. These are better than any I ever bought before. Fit prefectly to size 7 medium. Arch support is perfect, not too much, or little. Waterproof, lightweight, very lightweight, supportive, the best gripping soles I ever had, breathable, and the Smart Laces are almost my favorite part. I can stop for a second to tighten or loosen when i first start walking by bending over, just pulling the looping lace and stick the loop behind the tongue in 2 seconds. NO kneeling to retie. Seems like i can walk safely in anything but ice. I didn't wear them in the extreme cold and snow here. They are seamless so no water leaks, not that i want to mess up my pretty shoes by walking in deep puddles. And they are so cute and cool. I have people stop and ask me about them. I have always bought Merrells until maybe 2 years ago. Things change. I hope these don't. I could walk in them all day. Just love them, can't wait to put them on.

so far just trying them out they are very comfortable and light and waterproof and good traction except on wet concrete, have to be careful there. I wish shoe manufacturers would take completely into account the needs of non-average sizes. My feet are D width, and altho purchasers suggested these shoes were wide, without knowing exactly how wide they are it's a gamble. I would love if shoes had actual widths assigned to them, even if it's general, like "C-D" or "D-E" so I don't have something shipped across the world to find out it may have been wide for someone but not for me. I hope this shoe will stretch out, I cannot return. But otherwise they are visually a bit daunting (someone commented "astronaut shoes" because I do not wear these in the wilderness but more in the midst of daily life in a bit of a rough terrain so they are quite over the top in appearance but I knew that. I am looking for something to hold my feet firmly and not slip on various terrains and these are good for that. These are more of a B-C width I would say, they pinch my little toes, especially on the right foot. Lacing is easeful, easy to slip in and out of--all good except width. But they do hold foot in place. Color is nice, but could do without all the jazzy writing "CROSS HIKE", don't need to advertize how awesome my shoes are. I am usually an 8.5 so I ordered that but if I wanted to wear thick socks would need a 9, length just fits me. But otherwise thank you, Salomon.
