  • Some of my favorite!
These are such a unique addition to any art or craft project. They create a smooth, glossy, slightly raised effect that adds texture and shine to your work. The ink flow is generally good, but sometimes it takes a moment to get going, and the pens can skip if you write too quickly. Drying time is also a bit longer due to the glaze effect, so smudging is a risk if you’re not patient. ... show more

  • Like Writing With Butter! Vibrant Colors! 5 Stars For Sakura!
These are really meant to be "craft" pens. They're not meant to write checks or fill out forms with ...BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I USE THEM FOR! LOL Okay this is pretty much a petty thing.....but I'm really really particular about pens. It's lame, I know, but I can't help it. If they don't "feel" right when you run them across paper, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.....I just can't write with it anymore... I love these pens so much I literally have a SHOE BOX FULL. It's like writing with butter! The pen just glides along the paper leaving a beautifully stained mark of its presence behind. The gel ink flows out onto your paper evenly, and it saturates whatever your using it for with vibrant color. They are really striking on dark paper, (black, brown, blue, etc.) but they are striking on white paper as well. As far as "tip" goes...I'm not a "fine tip" kind of gal. I want to feel the words coming onto the paper...not etch them on....so I go with the medium, but even "fine" is not too fine ;) They don't dry out easily either. You can leave the cap off for hours and still won't come back to a dried out tip. And they don't have those periods where all of the sudden the ink just stops flowing. I wish the ink lasted longer. I run mine down to empty faster than I'd like to. Speaking of colors, there are quite a lot, but my favorite "set" is the Moonlight set. The glittery pens are sparkly....they just naw at that psycho irritation thing I have for pens that scratch the surface of whatever you're writing...so the glitter ones aren't for me even though they go on just as smoothly and my aversion to them is completely in my head ;) They do have a "wet"/"smudge" factor to consider. It doesn't go on like a tattoo for example....so it takes a few seconds/minutes for your writing to become "literature". hee hee Kids love them! They are far better than crayons to color with ..... and the ink is washable as far as I have seen. I'd imagine an entire pen full of purple gel ink on your favorite mini skirt is going to probably not come out, but the occasional mark here and there hasn't posed a problem for me thus far. Some ideas for use they are good for that you may not have considered: 1. Color on ceramics instead of painting them! Your ceramics come out shinier than they would with acrylic paints. 2. Wooden this and thats. You know, those wooden bird houses, etc. that you buy (pretty cheap) at like Michael's and you paint them and use them for silly artsy decoration in your house, or as a gift for your kid's teacher, or a last minute white elephant gift..... 3. Coloring fabric with them is pretty fabulous too. 4. Basically anything you apply color to with the exception of things that have already been glazed....the ink will not stick..period! So signing the back of your credit card with one (as I have foolishly tried..hee hee) ends up rubbing off immediately. That's just to name a few things. Like i said, they are craft pens by nature...but versatile in use. They're no Montblanc....but they're worth the $$$ you pay for them. Cheers ... show more

  • Fabulous pens!!!
Sakura Jelly Roll pens are top tier gel pens. This is the gold standard for colorful gel pens. These Glaze variety pens are very unique, bold, and really just a joy to use. I love these for adult coloring books and drawing. The effect is very similar to stained glass. It's a shiny, somewhat translucent 3d effect that is hard to describe until you can see and feel it. You are able to write on glass with these and other smooth surfaces, but I haven't yet tried it out. I'm sure they would look fantastic, though. It takes a little longer to dry than other gel pens because of how thick it comes out and the consistency. These are not writing pens. These are functionally art supplies. And to me, for what I use them for, they are worth the price. ... show more

  • Smooth as butter
Great colors. Write like butter. Really like these pens. Wrote beautifully on my acrylic background card. Does take awhile to dry so care has to be taken not to smear your work.

  • Different than other pens
I’ve tried these pens twice now. The ink goes on very smoothly. The slower you drag the pen across the paper the more ink will be allowed to flow. It’s almost more like painting with a pen. Because of this I imagine they won’t last as long as some other pens I have. I tried it on a few different types of paper. Copy paper was much too thin. I thought my Strathmore Artist Tiles spiral notebook which holds up to a lot of black marker abuse would do the trick. However, the paper did pucker somewhat. These pens would be better suited for something a bit thicker. The ink dries to nice sheen with an almost rubbery feel. It almost seems like I cut out the shape I wanted the pen to cover and glued it down instead of using a pen. So, these are definitely different than any of my other pens and would be great for a stained glass effect. I will most likely purchase the other color set as well because the person at the end of the game with the most markers win :) ... show more

  • How do I love thee…. Pens. Let me count the ways
There is something about these pens. This texture of pen is so fun to color in. It makes the coloring look like a sticker once finished. I’m obsessed. Easy to write with too and feels very smooth. They have good performance until they run out of ink and I have to buy more! That’s the only qualm, the price. Hurts to pay so much for a pack of pens. I typically love to color with certain colors and I can’t just buy a pack of my favorite colors. Alas… til the next paycheck pens. ... show more

  • Nice pens for crafting
I had previously purchased this pen with black ink and I love it. The writing is shiny and thick enough that it takes a minute or so to dry. They say it is raised but that is minimal. I have been using the black for card making and it works great for that. It adds just a little something extra. Now I’m looking forward to playing around with the variety of colors in this pack. I especially like that some of the colors included will be great for Christmas cards. ... show more
