  • A good tool - if you do a few simple things to it first
Size: Combination upgrade-6 Cutter Heads Color: Black
If there is room for a router and power is available etc I will use a router. This tool is great for tight places on installed material. Before you use it, remove the blade and spend a few minutes with a flat sharpening stone to put a decent edge on it - makes a big difference. While the blade is out, clean up the threads and put a drop of oil on them for smoother adjustments. Then take some fine sandpaper or emery cloth, wrap it on the corner of something square, and sand the paint off of the surfaces that will contact your work (it's easier than sanding it off of your material - no plane surface that contacts your wood should be painted) If you do those three things before you use this tool I think you will like it a lot more, and it is well made, just not well finished. ... show more

  • Use the router instead. Update: Manufacturer stands behind the product, give them a shot.
Size: Combination upgrade-6 Cutter Heads Color: Black
Update: Saker reached out and offered a refund-and-keep-the-item. I have to hand it to them for monitoring the reviews and being responsive. Try your luck, you might get a better unit and even if you don't Saker stands behind it. Original review: I can see what they were trying to do, but they failed. The parts look good but they don't fit together very well. Screws are the wrong length. The locking thumbscrew is the wrong diameter (just falls out). The blades aren't fully sharpened and the steel is too soft to hold an edge for more than a few pulls. It's a shame too, the idea is clever. I might be able to find a correct thread size thumbscrew and correct the fitment issues, but the blade problems mean this will only ever be used for tiny projects like little jewelry boxes and such. ... show more

  • Not as easy as advertised
Size: Combination upgrade-6 Cutter Heads Color: Black
Making your own edging on trim sounded appealing. I'd tried it with a Japanese tool of a similar nature, and although it was awkward, those who loved Saker's tool persuaded me to try again. I was hoping to glide along the wood's edge, making a satisfying curved edge, but instead it jerked and pulled, and was simply not a good replacement for a router. Would a sharper edge have helped? Perhaps, but it may have been operator error. ... show more

  • Could be better
The product is ok. Feels really good quality on the outside but the blade seems loose when you adjust it. It does a descent job but not as sharp as I would like so it gets hung up a lot, which can really damage a corner you're trying to chamfer. I don't think I would buy this one again.
