My parents own a very nice trash can by Rubbermaid. I love the quality and had searched everywhere for one like it. I found plenty of them online for nearly $200! When I found this product for less than half the price, I bought it right away. This thing is worth every penny. We've been using it for about six months, and I have nothing but good things to say: 1. Simple Assembly - Yes, it took some elbow grease, but I was able to put it together in about 2 minutes. 2. Large Capacity - My family of 6 generates a lot of trash. Our old trash can would fill up daily, but this one every other day. 3. Very Sturdy - What good is a large trash can if it doesn't hold up? I expect this one to last for many years. 4. Easy Operation - The step is strong, convenient and works consistently well. 5. Holds Bag in Place - It has little hooks that help to keep the bag from falling down inside. 5. Easy to clean - Any stains can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth. 6. With a family of six we simply needed a bigger can for trash in our kitchen than the average size that use 13 gal bags. Though you do need to probably get a 30 Gal liner this can is tough, solidly built and holds a solid week's worth of refuse. Some have complained that it is hard to put together. I agree that the plastic is thick and rigid but if you use a flathead screwdriver to wedge open the tough spots it goes together much easier and without needing the hand strength of the Hulk. ... show more

This trash can is perfect for my needs. It's large enough that I don't feel like I'm wasting my large trash bags, and small enough that, in my house, it needs to be emptied before food starts to smell. My roommates and I were emptying the small trash can we had almost every day. It's not overwhelmingly large either. When putting the foot opener together, it seems a little flimsy, but it works very well. My only complaint is that the way the lid is set up makes it impossible to get the trash bag all the way around the rim. It makes it too easy for people not paying attention to pull the bag partially in the can and trash goes down the inside of the bin and not into the bag. That one tiny flaw aside, I absolutely recommend this trash can. I'll probably be buying another one to replace the tiny recycle bin we have soon. ... show more

The lid does not close smooth, the things that rise the lid does not fit together properly (get loose) and you cannot hang a trash bag here, maybe for yard leaf and debris but definitelly would not recommend as kitchen trash.

The size of this trash can is good, but it is not constructed very well to hold a bag. I bought 30 gallon bags for it and they are too short and I have to tape the edges to the can so that it doesn't fall down in. The hinges for the lid go to the outside edges and bags, no matter the size, fall down inside and cause massive irritation. ... show more
