A little snug so needs some breaking in but fit perfect. I had a hard time finding a good quality holster that wasn’t basket weave for my Gen 5 Glock 17 w/o a light. Everywhere in town wanted close to or over $200. Inside has a cloth like felt to keep the Glock from scratching or fading.

This is a sturdy and easy holster to use! I purchased it for a Glock 17 Gen. 5 and it works very well! The retention is east to use with the stong hand and is even pretty simple when doing drills with the weak hand. The holster can be used for a Glock 19 even though it is not rated as such. There is minor sticking when using the 19 as the shorter length of the slide allows the pistol to sit lower in the holster. I did notice some slight sticking in the holster with the Glock 17 when i took it to a pistol match in the rain. I believe the protective velvet on the inside of the holster swells just a little when it gets wet causing the pistol to stick ever so slightly. Otherwise, it is a great holster that fits well on my duty belt.

Safariland is where you go for the best holsters on the market! I will be completely honest when I say that choosing a holster is as much a personal preference as choosing a pair of shoes. One holster will be a perfect fit for one person but could be all wrong for the next. This holster is designed to be used with a 2" wide duty belt but accessories can be purchased to adapt if for other belt or tactical leg drop uses or with a chest rig. This is a serious duty holster so if you are looking for something to use in casually or want something a little less high-end there are other companies with good holsters. One thing I really liked is the sued lining which prevents the firearm from having its finish removed with constant use. This was going to be used with a P226 so that was a big positive for me. The locking system on this holster doesn't have the ALS system but I preferred the SLS system as I was going to be using it during training that would require some rough treatment of the holster. I wanted the confidence or knowing I wasn't going to leave my sidearm in the dust should I need to roll, jump or run so I went with this one. The release of this holster is thumb activated so it will take some getting used to as many holsters use the index finger to release the firearm. Major kudos to Amazon as they got me a holster in five days while a dozen other websites told me I would need to wait between 6-10 weeks.

I got one “used” that is indistinguishable from a new one for just over $35 (thank you Amazon) but even at full price, this is a good holster. The suede-like lining protects your firearm finish if you care. It is easy and intuitive to use with minimal practice, retains the weapon well, and can be easily modified with safariland’s range of mounting options to suit your needs. Additionally security can be added with the “sentry” and hood if desired. I have owned two of the same model with the first being for a Glock 17 which I used on duty for over two years with it showing very little wear, even after some borderline abuse. This one which I purchased for my M&P is of exactly the same quality.

As always, Safariland Holsters are the very best in durability and quality. But this one in particular has a slight issue. The felt lining grips the slide firmly if your draw is canted to any degree. I believe that is how it was designed, for more retention if someone try's to grab it from the side while the hood is open. So if your draw is 90 degrees, straight up and down, it will come out without issue. But if your off to the left or right when drawing it wont come out due to the anti slip felt liner holding it in place. I imagine it would break in as time goes on but just know it will be hard, at first, to draw if your not pulling the firearm out at a perfect 90 degree angle. Also when you are reholstering, there is no click or “ALS”. The hood is the only thing that keeps the firearm locked in. I returned this holster. And i didn't need a hood for range use so i ordered the 6390 and 7390. We will see how they are when i receive them. Hopefully they don't have the grippy liner or at least have a different, less grippy liner.
