I have long thick hair that has gotten more frizzy and uncooperative as I age. It also didn't help that I started coloring my hair about 3 years ago to cover the grays. Since I started coloring, I've bought a tried all sorts of shampoos and conditioners--from the super expensive ($75/bottle from the salon) to the very inexpensive ($5/bottle from Target) to the specialized, non-detergent/no-wash (available only via internet) shampoos and conditioners. Some were better than others, and many were totally not worth the price. I got a sample of Sachajuan's Hair Repair from Sephora a year ago. As someone very sensitive to scents, I did not like the very distinct, almost medicinal smell at first. I'd describe it as an almost menthol or tea tree oil and cinnamon scent. But this stuff WORKS. I wash and condition my hair every 3-4 days, and I'll use hair repair in place of conditioner about every 3rd wash. I can tell a difference between this and my regular conditioner. Both leave my hair soft. The conditioner makes my hair easier to brush through, even when wet (less tangled?), but I think it's because my hair is slightly coated, and it feels heavier than when I condition with Hair Repair. Hair Repair makes my hair feel light and clean--not coated. Once dried, my hair feels lighter and even softer, though slightly more prone to flyaways. It makes for PERFECT styling and softness by day 2, and I can go longer between washes when I've used this. It made such a noticeable difference that I continued using this for a year, and I now love it as a "treatment." I've even gotten used to the scent and now associate it with CLEAN hair. My husband likes the smell, too. It's pricey if you intend to use this every wash, but totally worth it as a hair treatment.

I found out about this product when I first worked as a salon coordinator like 10 years ago and it was my favorite product and still my favorite product for dry damaged bleached hair. It softens like no other.

just tried this for the first time today - i also had a heat-activated workout cream in my hair before hot yoga, which i love, called hair warrior, but i will say that after i shampooed my hair i put this in for about 5 minutes. my hair feels great!! i have cool/white/ash bleach blonde highlights all over (it's basically the step before just going all-over marilyn blonde, so it's pretty heavy duty bleaching every other month). so my hair takes a pretty good beating, and this product made it very soft. i'd love to try it as an overnight treatment and then rinse it out in the morning because i have a feeling my hair would feel even softer. i also use olaplex about every other week as a protein treatment, and if i don't use hair warrior, i put coconut oil & argan oil in my hair before i hot yoga, so please keep in mind i'm babying my hair. i will still say that i really like this product after one use and feel it is well worth the money.

...this proves to be great, high-end haircare at a decent price. I've used Sachajuan products since 2012 and they've never failed. I've noticed that several people are really (really) stuck on the notion that this particular product smells like 'baby powder.' However, what it truly smells like is the ocean, as each Sachajuan product is derived from the benefits of seawater (the Volume Powder, Ocean Mist, etc). Bottom line: IT WORKS. It performs precisely as-advertised. If your hair smells like baby powder after using this mask -- which I use directly after bleaching to prevent from breakage and it is brilliant for that -- rinse again, then use a conditioner of your scented preference. Bottom line #2: don't be deterred from a great product because it doesn't smell the way you want your hair to smell. This does the job. (And, by the way, I think that the scent is fantastic.)
