I ordered this for my mother, she is left out of conversations as she does NOT speak English, I thought this tool would be handy when visiting the in laws that ONLY speak English. It did helped! It took as a little bit to get the hang of it, but with practice they got it and my mom and mother in law now have small conversations as of before it was the hi and bye type of interaction. The voice consecutive interpretation is accurate, or as accurate you get from a machine. I took one star due to the battery life, you do have to bring the charger with you if you are planning to use it, it doesn’t last long - maybe a few hours of usage? Before you need to charge. Other than that it works!!!

I have actually really enjoyed this product. The pen scanning portion actually does a really good job of correctly scanning whatever words you are trying to translate. I am not fluent in anything other than English so my experience with its accuracy is minimal but the bits and pieces I have tried that I already know the translation for have been good so far. I have used the picture and voice translation functions much less than the scanning part but they have also performed decently well with only the occasional issue with it understanding what I said or what I am taking a picture of. The price of this is lower than most but I think the more expensive ones I have seen have better offline capabilities as far as languages available.

I had ordered this for my co-worker who's first language is Spanish. She cooks in our kitchen and though she speaks English well, she has trouble on occasion with reading the menus and recipes that are entirely in English. When I saw this as an option to review I jumped to the opportunity to help make her job a little easier due to the lack of accommodations made for her. With that being said, I spent quite a bit of time messing with this translator to get the best understanding of it that I could so I could thoroughly explain and demonstrate to her at work. This pen works extremely well. The "highlighter/scanner" is the most effective option for translating text from what I've seen of it so far and even works on screens! I've noticed that the camera option also work decently, but occasionally misidentifies letters creating incomprehensible translations. One of my absolute favorite features is the two-way voice translation. You select the 2 languages, then you can press one button and speak English into it, translating what was said in English into Spanish. You can then press the other button and do the same from Spanish to English. This provides the ability to have a full conversation with someone who speaks an entirely different language. The response time isn't the quickest for this feature but is absolutely effective and accurate, looking at the tests we put it through. Without being connected to internet it's fully capable of performing the features listed above with select, common languages. After connecting it to wifi, it gives you options of a LONG list of languages and dialects from different regions, providing an even more comprehensible translation based on where your native language was taught to you. The only thing that we didn't test was the mobile app aspect of it, as she felt that was too complicated in addition to the features listed above being enough to make her job much easier and serves it's function well as a stand-alone device. For the price, im extremely impressed and wish I had this when learning German in highschool as a study tool.

I wish it had the ability to download the language you want for offline mode, but instead it just offers Chinese and Japanese and Russian....other languages require the Internet which makes it pretty useless for exploring a country where you can't ask for the WiFi ....if it's even available

This AI pen will translate for you through several different mechanisms. It has a pen/highlighter feature that you can go over text and it will translate. You can also connect to an app, and can use it as a sound translator. This is such a fantastic thing to have when traveling. I try to at least learn basic phrases when I travel so that I can communicate better with local people. And in some places the menus are in both English and the native language, but in some of the far-flung places I've traveled they are not, so this is fantastic to even be able to read menus or things in a hotel that you might not otherwise know what they say. This technology is amazing! And although, yes there are some glitches, it's unbelievable that you can carry something smaller than most people's phones and be able to literally use it to translate text, sound, or speech. It's such a great feeling to be able to communicate easier with people using this kind of technology. This is a must-have for anybody who travels or lives and work someplace where you may not speak the dominant language. This would make an excellent gift for your favorite traveler. Give them the world and open up places and things for them to see and do by being able to communicate easier.
