I've been using this to polish varnish on small wood boat parts parts and it works very well. They included a flyer with illustrations of all of their varieties of Ryobi battery operated tools which was great to see , but all they gave was the part number not the name of the tool????? uh There's a switch for two speeds on top which is engraved with the number in the gray plastic switch body and it's almost impossible to see but once you realize it's there you learn which position is which. I was using a drill with the same pads that I used on this tool and it just simply didn't work as well as this tool I believe the drill was around 1750 RPM and this tool is around 2500 RPM with a variable trigger. The variable trigger is most important for polishing. It still requires a learning curve to get a good polish so be patient it does not require a lot of force nor a lot compound. Once you notice that you've got clarity don't go back over it do you risk leaving a Hase. Good polishing is a learned skill ... show more

    • Solid tool works well will shut off from overheating in 30 min
if continuously used for a full battery life not sure if last longer than a half hour continuous rarely with this type of tool would you hold trigger for a half hour straight without letting off or having 5 -10 min breaks. But as soon as it cools down works in the snap of fingers, it may be better than I explain it to the only batteries I’ve put in it so far are two knock off Ryobi seven batteries which definitely could affect it’s usage Great tool gets into all the nook and crannies wish the handle that comes with. It was compatible with other Ryobi tools. Unfortunately, the threading is not compatible with the orbital polisher. Also, I love the pads only crabby part about the pads are the Velcro part that attaches to the tool rips off the pads relatively quick, you don’t peel them off gently and if or when you wash the pads, they tend to come off quick, especially if you put them in the dryer. I recommend washing them by hand except for the wolf pad go in the wash and then No matter what air drying them or if you really wanted to put them in front of a heater or Hairdryer do not put in the dryer or else back of the pads that attached to the Velcro will come off almost immediately ... show more

    • works polishing headlight lenses with toothpaste quick and easy, messy but fast
Got this to polish out headlight polycarbonate lenses with toothpaste, works like a champion. Splatters toothpaste everywhere but cuts the polish time by 90%, foam pad is much higher quality than I expected, it will last. batteries are same as other Roybi 18V tools

    • Great polisher 4 when a large is to big
Great polisher use it for many tasks quality results, variable speed trigger when you need to go slow for detail work you can't build up much heat on, even the smallest 18+1 batteries last over an hour of continuous use

    • Perfect for Hard to Reach Areas and Small jobs
I used this to cut and polish a new paint job on a 4Runner and it works great for the all the recesses and small areas. I actually did the entire tailgate with this since it was much easier to control than the 6" DA. It does get a little hot, but there is no vibration and the stabilizer handle can be mounted to either side of the polisher. It's also has a very low drain on the battery and one 4ah battery provides plenty of time of continuous use. ... show more
