Description

Larger construction projects require high volumes of wood to be sheared down to the proper size for uniform builds. A planer is the best tool to get them properly shorn. Rather than exhausting yourself with a hand planer, go with Ryobi. They have the HPL52K, a powerful 6 amp depth planer that can run up to 16,500 RPM. Simply plug its 6 foot cord into your wall outlet, attach the dust bag to whichever side you prefer, pull the trigger, and you’ll have cleanly shaved wood in no time. There are plenty of features on here that help you achieve the best experience. There is the rubber overmold that keeps friction high between your hands and the tool, allowing greater control in slippery environments. There is also a kickstand on the back of the unit the prevents it from marring your wood surfaces. It is also fully adjustable, letting you move the depth from 0 to 1/8" in 1/96” increments. With these features included in the HPL52K’s robust design, it’s no wonder that you’ll be working with Ryobi.

  • Fine adjustment of blades is possible!
I previously bought a very DeWalt planer, and it was a huge let down because the blades were not level with the sole and there's no fine tune adjustment mechanism on that planer, so it was wrong from the factory and there was no way to make it right. I bought this planer on the rebound because of one feature only: the blades have fine adjustment screws so you can level them and set their depth accurately. Why isn't every planer like this?? It works great. No complaints except the catch bag is way too small and the exit ports are small also. It's doesn't have the extra-robust build that the DeWalt has - but it is a useable tool and my DeWalt isn't. I don't have alot of experience with Ryobi tools but my impression, which is strengthened by the quality of this planer, is that Ryobi know where to take cost out, and they know where NOT to take cost out. It feels cheap, but it doesn't feel like it's going to break. Like the millennium falcon, she's got it where it counts. ... show more

  • Very good and inexpensive planer
Was looking for an inexpensive planer and came across this one. I got the planer and put it to work right away. The planer left very smooth surface and made quick work of trimming the wood. This has a good amount of power to most on most woods with no issues. If you need an inexpensive planer, this one is for you! ... show more

  • Buyer beware
There have been several years of reviews on Ryobi planers stopping up on right side dischzrge which requires you to stop planing periodically to manually pick out all the wood chips. The tool I feel is still a good value for the money. Just plan on widening the discharge openings yourself. Too bad Ryobi still hasn't gotten the messages. ... show more

  • Disappointed in the quality from Ryobi.
I have many Ryobi tools from impact drivers to string trimmers. All of them top quality. This planer, however, was another story. As delivered, the planer surface and the blade were not parallel - in fact from side to side it was off about 1/16". After some shimming and rework of the mounting system on the adjustable surface I have been able to get the planer to work satisfactorily. The biggest problem was that the bored hole used to mount the adjustable surface was not bored square with the blade. I expected better. ... show more

  • Great Planer
I had to adjust the blades as it was making a streak on the edge as i planed the wood. I found the blades were a little too wide for the planer. i removed the blades and ground them down slightly to match the width of the of the machine. I recommend this planer

  • Works perfect for shaving interior doors.
Have multiple interior doors I had to make smaller in order to use original metal frames. Took off sides and top with ease. Makes a mess even with the bag on but whatever . Tool works great

  • Smooth finish!
Super nice! Smooth finishes and easy to handle. I’m using it to help rough out the octagon on violin bows. The picture might be difficult to see but the jig holds the wood diagonally and the planer glides along the jig. I love how adjustable the planer is to a slight depth. I’ve cut planing time down to less than 45 minutes with this! Super timer saver. ... show more

  • Product great, delivery, wtf??
I'm sure this product will be great, as all my ryobi tools are. I just cant believe where the delivery person left this when they dropped it of. It's closer to the street than the house!
