  • This Ryobi Trim Router, is so much easier to use than a full size router.
Update: 5/27/2024 - Don't lose the wrench Ryobi included with the trim router. I misplaced my Ryobi wrench, and none of my standard SAE or Metric crescent wrenches fit the collet nut. If you want to make a custom base plate, or jig, you'll need to know that the base plate screw size is M4 x 0.7. ( #8-36 screws are very close and might work if you don't have the metric screws.) I was using a Chicago Electric full-size, corded router, from Harbor Freight. This cordless Ryobi Trim Router is so much better in every way. I'm really happy with this router. I'm a home DIYer making wooden frames and boxes, etc. This router is perfect for me. I bought the Ryobi router bit set too, and I'm happy with those as well. 2025-09-01 update: I still like this trim router. However the Ryobi battery charger is poorly designed. when the battery is inserted into the charger the charger status lights are mostly blocked by the battery. The charger's power cable is a thin pair of wires, that I feel is too fragile for a shop, or garage environment. That thin power cable is permanently attached to a large "wall wart" power adapter that takes up a lot of space wherever it's plugged in. Because the power adapter is so large, it won't fit through the cables pass-through holes of my existing charging unit stands. The charger has mounting screw holes on it's underside, but they face the wrong way, if you want to mount the charger in an orientation that lets you see the status lights. ... show more

  • Works, and the seller was great.
I got this router and have been using it to install nine slab doors in my house. It's great for routing perfect, professional-lookig hinge and latch depressions. I've never used a router before, but with the various jigs that they also sell, the job was doable for the diyer, and saved me a couple thousand bucks in labor. One issue: the battery that came with the unit was a dud. I contacted the seller and he sent me a good one that I received the day after contacting them. Kudos to their customer service. ... show more

  • Don't waste your time or money
I'm a professional woodworker of 42 years. Looking for a convenient battery palm router for job sites. Already having a few Ryobi tools with batteries i though I'd give this a go. It's terribly unbalanced and awkward but the worst part is the shaft of the bit only goes into the chuck maybe 1/4" and no matter how tight you make it the bit drifts out when under load which changes your depth. I switched to the Dewalt and all is right with the world now. ... show more
