This is a nice protective shirt for young athletes. It runs true to size- I wish I had sized down, though. My boy is very tall, but very thin, so sizing this correctly for him can be difficult. It is a breathable and lightweight material, and it is comfortable to wear. I think that the protection level is medium. The padding goes a bit lower on the body than other shirts I've seen, which is appreciated, but the padding could be a little firmer. This fit my 9yo boy well who has a relatively athletic build on the leaner side. We have used it for baseball in several practices and games and it hasn't ever been mentioned as something annoying or in his way. Quite the opposite, he likes the gear and appreciates the padding -- and so do I since this is the first year that kids pitch to each other there are plenty of pitches heading straight for the batters. The pads are only around the chest area and are formed from some kind of foam stitched in. It's been through the washer and dryer several times and there hasn't been any issues. I'm glad we have it and would get it again. Seems every bit as good as what I've seen in the large local sports retail stores. ... show more

This shirt is made if dry fit materials. You can wear this for football,basketball or baseball. Fits true to size. Great value for your little league athlete. The padding is thick but light weight. It also holds it form after washing.

Now I feel like they are definitely mandatory for young baseball players, especially those who are exposed to a lot of oncoming line drives, etc. My 9 year old nephew pitches so he needs to wear protective shirts. My son is old enough where he is required to wear these for baseball. Currently this is his third brand of this type of shirt. It seems to be as well made as the others. Really the only difference I can tell is the shape of the padding. This one seems to offer more protection lower on the trunk compared to others. Hopefully, my son never gets hit in the chest, but I think this would help soften the blow. Very light weight. If your kid plays baseball or softball, you quickly realize one chest protector shirt isn’t enough. We got this for our 10U son who weighs about 65 pounds, and the size small fit him well. It runs true to size but is about an inch longer than other brands we’ve tried. The chest pad is also wider by a few inches, which gives better coverage but does make the shirt feel a bit bulkier.
