I work in the boat building industry, we use pull saws quite regularly for fine finish work. I picked this one up to supplement some of the higher end saws in the shop as a “pocket sawzall”. As far as sharpness I would give this a 7/10 but given the price point and unique size it had been a great addition to my kit. Given I use it for roughing out plywood templates which is notoriously hard on blades. This is an extreme use case but I’m very happy with the product. If your looking for an around the house or hobby saw this is great, if you want something to beat up like myself then this is great. Given the sharpness I wouldn’t use this for finish work, but anything shy of that this is the product your looking for. ...you ever go brain dead. I basically saw the pictures, read reviews, & clicked. I'm usually amused when reviewers complain that something they bought is *so small* - when the measurements are right there in the listing. So i felt pretty silly when the little box arrived. Laughed : it was those pictures ;-> Yup - 1. I hadnt *read* description, 2. I hadn't watched the video - the only chance to see a hand hold the saw. All I saw were the pictures - all shot with the saw lying down, and the blade toward the camera. Lol - I was expecting a larger tool - or at least a blade longer than the handle ;-> But between foreshortening and no hands, I got me another fine little saw, whose handle - and *cutting length* - are both 5.75 inches. ... show more

    • Better than any hand saw
Another great product, in enjoying this a lot. It's very sharp and cuts very fast. It's a pull saw so instead of cutting on the forward motion with other hand saws, this cuts when you pull back which makes the whole job easier, faster and less tedious. Makes short work of everything I've cut so far and it cuts clean but I had to get used to the way it works, I was cutting straight then stopping to look and starting again and was unable to make the next cut even with the first cut but I'm getting better at it. I use this instead of pulling out my power saw for quick cuts. It's amazing ... show more

This is an excellent quality hand saw. Every woodworker should have one of these in their toolbox. If you've not used one of these before, just be mindful that these saws are designed to cut on the push NOT the pull. Therfore, less energy is needed to cut, while still providing precision results.

    • Better crosscutting than ripping
Nice saw that is super aggressive in crosscutting, but it may be too aggressive. It only takes a few strokes to cut off a 3/8” dowel; however, given the offset of the teeth the cut is a little rough. I have had other flush cutting saws that are more flexible and more importantly provide a smoother cleaner cut. It is not problem for making bread board ends in that I cut a little high and sand down so it is perfectly smooth. The teeth advertised as for ripping are ok, but the saw tends to grab a little when ripping and your stroke is not as smooth as when crosscutting. I have had flush saws that were so flexible you could not cut dovetails with them. This one is flexible, yet stiff enough you can be straight cuts without it wondering. ... show more

read the directions. They’re short and sweet and they tell you exactly how to use this. It’s kind of like the opposite of what you would think. I find it very useful and I recommend it.

Don’t let the small size fool you. This saw is razor sharp and sturdy. I had to cut a pole and this saw went through it like butter. The size makes it portable and highly versatile. I highly recommend this product.

    • Great little saw
After never owning a Japanese style saw before, I was extremely surprised by the utility of this saw. Very small kerf and the ability rip cuts and cross cuts on the same tool has made this my go to saw for most cuts.
