  • Great for money make sure mount has a front plate
Model: 12000LB Synthetic rope
Why did you pick this product vs others?: It works great easy to install if you have a good mounting plat! You don’t a high end rough country mount, but make sure it does have a front plate!

  • Five years old & going strong!
Model: 12000LB Synthetic rope
I bought this winch (12,000) over 5 years ago. I have done 10-12 recoveries and it has performed great. The front bumper has been under water several times yet the winch has never failed. So it is time for me to buy another winch for my new camper van. This winch served me well on my Jeep. I sold it with my Jeep and since I need a new one. I will buy this one again! ... show more

  • A seemingly sturdy winch, with the cheapest electrical parts ever
Model: 12000LB Synthetic rope
Got this for my tj wrangler, and it seemed like a good bargain. Winch is heavy, seems to be constructed nicely, and I have used it already to pull a 3/4 ton truck out of the sugar sand, he got stuck in. This Main issues with the winch, are electrical related. First and foremost, the "power cables". Never in my life have I found a cheaper, flimsier, more poorly built set of "cables" in my life. I trimmed the red power cable to fit, and the crimp on a terminal. The "cable" is super-flimsy, so I decided to cut open the piece I trimmed off, to see what was inside. Imagine my surprise/disappointment to find a bunch of loose wires, just laying inside the jacket. They aren't twisted, braided or otherwise compacted together to form a cable. They are literally just a hollow tube of red plastic filled with loose, bare wires. The first time these get a serious load on them, they will start individually melting, and the "cable" will fail. That is the secret to the flexibility, there is no cable here, just a tube of loose wires, as thick as strands of human hair. SERIOUSLY. The remotes, previously mentioned by multiple posters, are cheap, junky plastic, reminiscent of a cereal box toy, or a cheap party favor given out at a kids birthday party. They are absolute garbage. After a single use, one of mine died, so i had to use the spare. (Obviously the reason for 2 remotes in the first place, they know they are junk) I have a battery disconnect switch between the winch and battery, for safety and to ensure this thing doesn't drain my battery, due to failed electronics. I am going to rewire the entire winch, from battery, to and including, the relay box, with actual battery cables, and see how it will perform then. The last pic shows the bolt for the Fairless, mounted to my Hooke Road bumper. After tightening the bolts (with blue Loctite added) I had to use the death-wheel, and cut the bolt off flush with the nut, to mount this winch. Look closely, there's enough clearance for a credit card between the bolt and winch frame. It's tight, but it will fit. I did get a cover for it too, mostly to help protect the synthetic line from UV damage. For the money, it is a solid winch, it just has craptastic electronics. I would have gladly paid more, for real cables, and a remote that didn't seem like a poor kids favorite cereal prize. ... show more

  • Does not function as needed
Model: 12000LB Synthetic rope
Been installed less then a year, all connections are sound, battery has a full charge. When attempting to use for the first time, the relay box will click, but will jot turn the motor in either direction. It worked when it was first installed and has been under a quality water proof cover. I sent an email to the customer service email, as it is still within its 3 yr warranty, without so much as a reply. ... show more

  • Exceeding expectations
Model: 12000LB Steel rope
I can’t believe they can make them this cheap. I tried pulling a stump with it and the torque was sufficient enough to stand up a jeep wrangler tj on the front wheels. The remote controls are sorta cheap and lightweight but everything else was better than expected. Would recommend to off-road drivers how don’t want to spend a lot money. ... show more

  • Nice winch once wiring fixed.
Model: 12000LB Steel rope
Came in a smashed up box with 2 out of 3 controllers broken but was factory packaging. Control head was miss wired but was an easy fix to straighten that out, but it uses color coded wires so I would say attention to detail is lacking. Made me go thru and check the complete assembly. Once straightened out it works great. I would say buy it but dont be surprised if you need to double check the factories work. ... show more
